PHONE CALL

I was sitting at my desk, trying to focus on the work in front of me. But my mind kept wandering, thinking about the phone call I had received earlier that day, it has been short, but the voice on the other end had been clear, ' I need to see you. It's urgent ".

I tried to push the call out of my mind and focus on my work but it was impossible. I couldn't stop thinking about who had called me and what they had wanted. Finally I gave up and decided to go for a walk to clear my head.

As I walked down the street, I noticed a man sitting on a bench staring into space. He looked troubled and I couldn't help but feel curious about him, I approached him slowly not wanting to startle him. When I got closer I noticed something strange: he was holding a picture of me in his hand.

The man looked up, startled as I approached him, he quickly hid the picture behind his back but I had already seen it. I wasn't sure what to say so I simply asked ' can I help you with something? The man hesitated, then said, 'i....I don't know '''.

The man seemed unsure of what to say next. He fidgeted with the picture behind his back, early uncomfortable.

Finally he spoke again, 'it about your father, he's in trouble and need your help'.

I was taken aback by the man's words. I knew nothing about my father and I had no idea what kind of trouble he could be in. I couldn't help but be curious 'what kind of trouble is he in? I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. The man looked around as if to make sure no one was listening, then learned close to me, ' it's complicated ' he said but I'll tell you everything I know, just promise me you'll keep an open mind.

"My name is Marcus, the man said and I'm a private investigator, your father hired me to find you but it's not for the reason you think, he's not trying to reconnect with you. He's trying to protect you".
