In The World Penitentiary

Watching from a distance like he always did, Veer could see Sky talking to a woman in her early twenties and was listening attentively to their conversation.

He could hear them talking about someone in a certain penitentiary and what they were going to do to try to get him out.

"Sky there's literally nothing we can do." Anna said. "He broke the law, committed crimes. He murdered people. What do you think I can do about that? And he probably doesn't even regret what he did."

"So you're saying that if he feels regret you might be able to help?" Sky asked. They were in the Thradon district but were a good distance away from the world penitentiary.

"That is not what I said Sky." Anna replied, exasperated. "What do you want me to do? I can't do anything about his sentence. I have no authority here in Thradon."

"So we're just going to leave him in there." Sky said.

"Do you want to go break him out?" Anna asked. "Be my guest then."

With a face as straight as ever before, Sky walked away silently, without another word.

'What is he planning to do now?' Veer thought, still watching; he was unable to tell what was going through Sky's mind at that moment.

A few seconds later, just as Veer was about to follow Sky, the siren began to resonate through the district. Now, the army of Werts that had attacked could be seen falling from the sky and they were all heading towards one place–the target of this attack, the main reason they attacked the Thradon district.

The people present in the district were already running left to right with the thought of survival being the only thing running through their heads.

'What are they doing here right now?' Veer thought as he saw the Werts flying towards the location of the world penitentiary. 'They're ruining everything!' he screamed in his head.

Seeing the Werts flying towards the location of the world penitentiary while killing people and destroying anything in their way, Sky immediately began running after them; following from behind.

He could see Anna already beginning to kill the werts as quick as she could while also trying to save people that were unfortunate to be in the area.

"They're heading towards the world penitentiary!" Anna shouted to Sky.

"I can see that." Sky said as he punched the chest of a two-tailed wert. "But why?"

Inside the world penitentiary, Jake had just watched the people who he had once considered friends leave and a few minutes later, an alarm went off and literally all he could hear was a blaring sound that seemed like it could go on forever.

'What the actual hell is going on?' Jake asked in his head.

All he could see was red light that filled the whole place and he was starting to feel kind of disoriented.

'Screw it.' Jake thought. 'I'll try the energy again. What's the worst that could happen?'

Accessing the purple energy in his body again, Jake still felt like he could not do anything with it but decided to do it nonetheless.

In another part of the penitentiary, staring at the projection in front of him, a young man could see something happening. Something that could jeopardize them all.

"Commander!" he called out in a frantic manner.

"What is it?" Commander Lucy asked, walking over.

"The cloaking magic we used on the penitentiary." the man said.

"What about it? Speak up!" Commander Lucy ordered.

"It's failing." he said.

"Failing? What do you mean it's failing? It can not fail. It has been tested through a lot of contingencies and failing is not one of them."

"I don't know what to say Commander but it's failing right now. In a few minutes we will be completely exposed to the werts."

Can you find out what is causing it to fail?" Commander Lucy asked.

"That's what I am trying to do at the moment. I'm scanning the whole penitentiary and trying to find anything that could cause it."

"Good. Keep looking." Commander Lucy said.

Outside the penitentiary, soldiers of the Thradon district had arrived and had already engaged in a heated battle against the werts.

While Nikki was manipulating the minds of two werts with her magic and allowing them to see and envision what they most desired in the world, Max used his two swords to cut deeply into their necks before he made another cut across their bodies simultaneously.

"Uh guys." Max said, looking at the place where the world penitentiary was before it disappeared from sight. "Is that supposed to be happening?"

Taking little glances at what Max was staring at, they could see small warps appearing in the air as if the air was a flat surface which someone was moving the palm of their hand through.

"Smith? What's happening? An explanation please." Kevin said as he jumped away avoiding a swipe from a three-tailed wert.

"I'm not entirely sure." Smith said while trying to catch his breath. "But it seems like whatever magic was used to hide the world penitentiary is fading or wearing off."

"It hasn't been up to fifteen minutes since it's been used yet." Kyle said. "How can it wear off so quickly?"

"I don't know but this isn't good." Smith said. "If the penitentiary is exposed, things could get way worse than it is now."

"What are you talking about?" Nikki asked.

"Don't you guys get it? That's why the werts attacked Thradon and came to this exact position immediately. They're trying to get into the world penitentiary." Smith explained.

"Why would they want to do that?" Diane asked.

"To release the worst of the worst." Kevin said, now realising what Smith was getting at. "The world penitentiary holds the worst criminals in Veda and if they escape, it's gonna cause a civil war."

"We'll be fighting against ourselves..."

"Instead of the werts. Our main enemy."

"Guys I think we've got a slightly bigger problem." Smith said.

"What is bigger than a probable civil war at this time?" Max asked.

"We haven't seen it yet." Sasha said.

"Seen what Sasha?" Nikki asked.

"Guys hurry up and speak we don't have time for this." Kyle said.

"The world penitentiary holds the worst of the worst. To be as bad and as evil as those guys, you need to be pretty strong right? And for a place to be able to hold them it needs to be able to hold that amount of strength meaning it has to be stronger than them so they don't break out."

"Smith get to the point!" Nikki shouted while trying to dodge an attack but was hit by the tails of a two-tailed wert.

"A wert capable of breaking into the world penitentiary had to be sent and we haven't seen a wert with tails higher than four since we've been fighting."

"Which means all this is just a distraction." Kyle realized, shocked by the amount of planning that would have gone into creating a strategy like this.

Watching everything from high up in the sky with dark clouds surrounding him and spreading out far and wide, a wert with six tails that curled up into a sort of ball was watching the whole battle unfold on the ground and suddenly smiled to himself when he noticed something strange.

He had just seen the warps in the air where the world penitentiary was before and he said to himself, "Nothing can stop us now."
