Behind Bars

As he continued to use fire to burn the neck of the wert, the five-tailed wert was relentlessly using its claws to try to cut Jake's arm off.

Taking into consideration every little detail about the current situation, Jake knew that the five-tailed wert could not do anything to him.

Before his hand was cut all the way through, he would have killed the five-tailed wert by burning its neck. 'But what's the fun in that?' Jake thought.

The massive fireball he had created earlier had dwindled into nothing but particles, but the giant hole that was burnt into the planet would stop people from forgetting about the fireball for a long time.

There was no one left on Soran apart from Jake and the five-tailed wert. Every other person had been teleported to Veda, including the soldiers.

There were supposed to be two five-tailed werts in the second base as well but only one had made an appearance. Or so Jake thought.

While he was creating the fireball and fighting against the five-tailed wert, Commanders Lucy and Chase were fighting against the second five-tailed wert.

They succeeded in stopping it from getting to the magic barrier by killing it and after that, they went into the magic barrier and were teleported to Veda, leaving Jake as the only remaining living human on Soran.

Jake had already burnt off the left hand of the five-tailed wert and it would not take much longer before he burnt its neck. However, Jake wanted to have a little bit of fun before he killed the five-tailed wert.

The wert was still invisible so Jake could not see it, that is why he did not let go of it. But he did not have to see it to enjoy himself.

Opening his mouth wide, Jake was about to release fire from his mouth as well but he was jerked and the next thing he knew, he was falling to the hole beneath.

He knew falling to the ground would not kill him but it still wasn't something he wanted to do.

'Change of plans.' Quickly grabbing the head of the wert with both hands as they descended with no resistance, Jake gave it a strong and powerful headbutt. Normally the headbutt would have sent the wert flying away but Jake was holding onto its head tightly.

He began burning the head and giving it headbutts as hard as he could. He ignored all the attacks from the wert. The slashing, snarling, hitting, biting, Jake ignored everything and kept on burning the head while giving it headbutts.

'It's not enough.' Jake thought. 'At this rate it will still be alive when we hit the ground.'

Looking at the neck of the five-tailed wert, Jake was about to bring the wert closer to him when both of them hit the floor hard.

They fell into the giant hole on the ground and rolled to the bottom of it, one trying to get the upper hand on the other.

The moment they got a grip on themselves, the invisible five-tailed wert flew towards Jake, taking this as an opportunity to kill him.

"You guys are so dumb." Jake said as he used the faint outlines again to tell where the wert was, thereby holding the only hand the wert had.

Drawing the wert to himself, Jake felt around for its neck and the wert bit down on his hand hard. Its razor sharp teeth breaking through the scales on Jake's palm and clamping it in place.

Jake groaned in pain but he still wasn't worried. His health points would heal him and he had found what he wanted.

Now he knew where the neck of the wert was and Jake did not waste any time in pulling his palm out of the wert's mouth while screaming.

"My turn." Jake snarled then bit down on the still remaining part of the wert's neck. As he bit down, he pulled his head away as hard as he could and to his surprise: a little bit of surprise, the neck was no more and the head of the wert fell to the pitch-black ground.

Jake smiled and picked up the head of the wert. He used his claws to turn the edges of its mouth up into a smile and began making marks on its forehead. After that, he put it on the ground and jumped on it, bursting it and crushing it under his feet.

Jake was bloody with claw marks all over his body. He was bleeding profusely and he was very exhausted but he still stood on his feet, using every ounce of his being to stop himself from falling.

"Now that that's done, time to get out of here." Jake said as he reverted back to his normal self and tried to jump out of the giant hole but could not.

He had the strength but not the stamina and in his exhausted state, his strength was not enough.

"Maybe I'll just close my eyes and lie down for a bit." Jake said then laid down on the ground and shut his eyes.

Opening his eyes, Jake saw himself looking through a solid transparent material. He could not move his body and the only light that entered the room was through a fist-sized hole in the ceiling.

'What the hell is this!?' Jake thought. He was unable to speak or blink, he could not feel any part of his body. 'Damn it. Last thing I remember is me lying on the ground on Soran after killing the wert. How'd I get here? How long has it been since then?'

Past the horizontal and vertical bars he could see in front of him, Jake could hear footsteps approaching from the left side of the hallway.

Seeing the person stop in front of the room he was in, Jake recognized the person. 'Commander Lucy.'

Standing in front of the bars, Commander Lucy was looking at the pod Jake was floating in.

The pod was filled with a liquid that made Jake unable to move a single muscle while the pod itself nullified Jake's magic, making him powerless.

"You are most likely wondering where you are." Commander Lucy said. "I'll tell you. You are in the world penitentiary, where people like you belong."
