A Battle Won

After touching Fury, Jake received a system message that happened to be the silver lining in his current situation.

Seeing the system messages in his line of sight, Jake smiled to himself with glee mixed with the pain of the muscles in his mouth moving upward.

Now knowing that he had successfully completed the long-term quest and mimicked a magical element and also leveled up, Jake fell to the ground satisfied with what he had accomplished.

Seeing Jake fall to the ground after touching Fury, Sky lifted him up with the help of Anna and took him to the side.

With powerful blasts of heat waves being released from every inch of Fury's body, and with his eyes being engulfed in flames, Commanders Lucy and Chase could tell that he was getting ready to unleash a very devastating attack that would have deadly effects on the remaining soldiers around.

"Are you ready?" Commander Lucy asked Commander Chase. Her great pink sword was now in the two hands of Commander Chase and he was holding onto it as tight as he could.

The sword felt heavy in his hands but being a commander, he could lift and swing it without any trouble.

"Let's do it!" Commander Chase shouted. Running towards Commander Lucy from a short distance away, Commander Chase jumped forward and Commander Lucy held onto him from his legs and began turning, not moving from the point she stood.

By now, the heat waves coming off Fury had turned into scorching flames and his whole body had been completely engulfed by the fire coming out from his own body.

The fire magic Fury was using was so strong, it looked like he was going to explode with fire.

Fury's skin looked to be red hot and bubbling, and just as he turned to face Commanders Chase and Lucy, a great pink sword with black and blue-armored hands on the shaft, came through the furnace and landed directly on his head, not stopping until it made a straight line down to the ground.

Still standing in the flames with the great sword on the ground, Commander Chase looked at the body of Fury which had just fallen into two separate halves. The separate body parts were still burning with fire from the inside out and it showed no signs of stopping even after Fury was dead.

"What's going on in there?" Commander Lucy asked, not being able to see anything through the amount of fire that she had thrown Commander Chase into.

"GET BACK!" Commander Chase yelled as he ran out of the fire, clad in his black and blue armour from head to toe. "EVERYONE! GET AWAY FROM THE FIRE! GET BACK!"

"Why!?" Commander Lucy yelled back as she backed away from the fire while also trying to get people to move away.

"It's gonna blow." Commander Chase replied, just as a loud exploding sound was heard and the huge fire that he had just come out from began to lessen.

"It's gonna blow huh?" Commander Lucy said.

"I thought there was going to be an explosion. But you heard the same thing I heard." Commander Chase said in his defense.

"Well, I suppose things could have been a whole lot worse." Commander Lucy said. "We have less than half of our forces but we are the winners of this battle. That's got to count for something."

"Yeah." Commander Chase agreed.

Setting her eyes on Anna, Commander Lucy said to Commander Chase, "You go rally up the soldiers."

"What are you going to do?" Commander Chase asked.

"I'm going to have a little chat with the dear daughter of our monarch." Commander Lucy replied.

"Don't do anything rash." Commander Chase warned.

"I won't. And give the soldiers one of those your world-famous motivational speeches. After that battle, we all could use a good rest to recover."

Walking towards Anna, where she stood with Sky watching over Jake who was still unconscious on the ground, Commander Lucy tried to control her temper and tried to reason with herself.

But on getting to Anna, all her reasoning and self-control flew right out of the door, and she raised her left hand to give Anna a very hard smack on her left cheek.

Putting her hand on her left cheek, Anna stared at Commander Lucy in shock, not expecting that Commander Lucy was walking over to give her slap.

"What'd you do that for?" Anna asked, the feisty look in her eyes indicating she could return the slap Commander Lucy just gave her if she didn't get a good answer.

"Shut up! Do you think you can do whatever you want just because you're the daughter of a monarch?" Commander Lucy asked. "Do you know how many soldiers lost their lives simply because you decided to attack a wert base with a kid tagging along?"

"I didn't ask you to follow me, did I?" Anna retorted.

"You didn't!?" Commander Lucy shouted, stopping herself from giving Anna another slap. A much harder one. "If we had not shown up with the soldiers, do you think you would have made it out of here alive? What would we have said to your father? Sorry sir, your daughter's dead because she decided to attack a wert base due to reasons we don't know?"

Sky, who had been standing by the side and watching the whole thing transpire between Commander Lucy and Anna, finally decided to speak up.

"Not to be rude or anything, but don't you think you guys can do, 'this', when we all get back to the haven? People are starting to stare."

"Who do you think you're talking to like that?" Commander Lucy asked, her hand already heading for Sky's face, but was suddenly stopped dead in its tracks.

Jake was standing in front of Sky, completely naked, holding onto the wrist of Commander Lucy.

"No one, and I mean no one, hits my lil' brother." Jake said, dropping Commander Lucy's hand. 'It's a good thing she didn't use her full strength. I won't have been able to stop her hand.'

"Before this escalates more than it has," Commander Chase said, walking towards them, "we need to get back to the haven. We've spent more than enough time here."

Going to join the soldiers that were already standing together, Jake stopped walking. He was using the jacket Sasha had given him to cover his lower body and though his body still hadn't fully healed even after his level up, he was capable of moving by himself.

He looked round and noticed someone was missing. "Where's Sasha?"
