A Truce With The Enemy and I'm Made Provisional Alpha

With Brent's siblings gone, they were unable to see Miranda's picture placed on the pack hall of fame. Eric and Brody have also looked into the declaration of war against the wolves and know that even with the addition of the two other Laires, they simply won't be enough to take on them and win successfully. This brought the two to a strange decision that had only been done once in the Pack's history.

"I've gathered you all here to make an announcement"

"Eric and I have come to a decision about the whole war thing. Since the loss of our dear comrade and the growing numbers of the vampires, we simply won't be enough to take on them head on" Brody narrated to the rest of the pack.

"This led us to make the decision of asking for help from other packs" As Brody completed his statement, he felt an uneasiness among the pack as they weren't accepting that idea with open arms.

Opening their turf up to foreign wolves would give the a tactical edge if they planned to fight them but with the position they're in, it was their last resort.

"I know how you feel, we'll be opening ourselves up to attacks if the wolves choose to turn but what choice do we have, it's either we lose the entire forest or take out chance with the wolves" Eric reasoned with the others.

"We have to keep out land, we can't let them take over especially now that it's more important than ever to get our revenge on them" William said.

"I agree, this land has belonged to us for generations and we can't let it slip through our fingers. We need to protect our history and our land" Brian added from the pool table he sat on.

With the backing of the two betas, it assured the alpha on his decision to get other wolves involved.

"About getting more wolves, I know a pack that lives on the fringes of wolf and Vampire territory. They might be able to lend their help to us" Ethan stated.

"And how many wolves would that be?" Asked Brody

"Well they are four in number but with the situation we've found ourselves, four more wolves would mean a lot" Ethan replied.

"That would be helpful. There are two other packs that we could ask. They've helped us and we've helped them in the time past. I hope they would help us in our every desperate time of need"

"You're right Brody and with that comes the next price of information, Brody, Janet, Linda and I would be away for a while as we would be consulting the other packs so we are making William provisional alpha and Brian as second in command" Eric announced.

It was a huge responsibility for William to shoulder, even if it was just for a few days but even at that, it would be a lot. He would be the one to make the big decisions and try to keep them all together while the big dogs are away.

"Wow sir, Are you sure I'm the right pick? I mean Brian is also here and I think he's more than capable in leading the pack" William pleaded with Eric.

"Yes he is but you've held the position of beta longer than him which makes you more experienced in leading than him" Eric replied.

"But-"

"That's enough Will, we've made our decision and it is final. You can't weasel your way out of this one so accept your fate" His father replied in a stern tone which made him stop pleading.

"That's all we have to say, meeting adjourned" Eric concluded and they stepped out of the meeting room.

Brody and Janet got in the car and went home to get bother things and Will's. With William as aloha he would need to stay at the Gatwick household to make sure everything is fine and hold midnight and early morning patrols. Linda and Eric had already packed their things and headed of after saying their final words to their daughter.

Once the elders left, Brian ran to William and locked his head in his elbow and tightened his grip so that he could scatter his hair.

"So alpha, what do we do now?" Brian said before letting William out of grip.

"Well Brian..." William said catching his breath from being bullied.

"We have to continue our patrols, we can't let up or the vampires could strike at any moment. We also need to talk with the pack that Ethan suggested, let's see what they have to say so Brian, come with me, Ethan and Mary lead the way, the others continue with your daily routine and we can take further action from there. Let's move out" William charged the group after giving out instructions like a true leader. William was a natural at leading the pack and groups when put in one with other people though he liked to deny the fact that he wasn't fit to be a leader.

William took his best fighter and right hand man out on this trip as anything could happen. Brent and Kent went to where they and Miranda used to patrol. Knowing that it would be emotionally draining for them Will told Keisha and Connor to switch with them as it wouldn't way them down as much as the other two. It would be a while before they would be allowed to go there as they would walk that path again without their guardian and protector.

The group's split up with the two going to the area assigned to them by Will and the other four tracking the other packs scent. They were able to find their tracks at the edge of their territory and follow their scent and their footprints across the forest floor, almost bumping into Brent and Kent and to the edge of their plain were they shared a deer carcass. They indulged themselves in their deer kill to the point that they didn't notice William and his group standing some meters away from them.

"Hey guys, you're trespassing" Ethan said.

Their alpha recognised the voice as the voice of the male that they fought a couple of weeks ago. He had promised not to trespass again and if he did, the male could have his head. He and the rest of the pack slowly raised their heads up to the four wolves growling in front of them. The wolf looked at them and couldn't say anything as he thought that it was the end of the line for them.

"We would gladly end your lives and leave your bodies to rot on the ground but we didn't come her to fight today" Ethan said as the wolves have a huge sigh of relief.

"So if you didn't track us down for our heads, why did you come here?" The pack leader asked with caution.

"Well we are in a bit of trouble and we would need your help. In exchange for your services we would tolerate your presence in our forest until you get a forest of your own" William stated with confidence as a true leader would, he was yet to run this decision through Eric but Eric told him that he would respect his decisions and judgement when he returns so that was what gave him some confidence.

"And what trouble have you guys run into?" The alpha asked.

"We have vampire troubles, they have declared war against us which resulted in the death of one of our comrades and we fear that the worst is yet to come so we ask for your help"

The alpha consulted his three pack members before he finally replied to William's request.

"We are sorry to hear about the passing away of your comrade. My pack and I have decided to join you in your battle against the vampires as your removal from the forest wouldn't help us in anyway against them and we hope that you also hold your end of the bargain"

"Yes we will" Ethan replied.

"If I may ask have you ever fought a vampire before?" William asked

"No we haven't" a wolf from the four replied.

"Well if you haven't then you would need to be trained. They are very, very dangerous and capable of killing us"

"Yeah yeah yeah, we got that last part down so when do we begin?" The alpha asked.

"You can start today if it's okay with you?"

"Sure why not, the earlier the better"

William acknowledged their statement and howled to signal the others that the pack of four have acknowledged to join them in their fight, that means they are now 16 in number. Will also informed them about the training and that's when Brent howled back after a couple of minutes later as they went deeper into their territory to train. He told William that he and Kent would train them in honour of Miranda's memory. It was the legacy she left for them to become skilled vampire hunters and killers. William honoured their request and told them it was fine for them to be the ones to coordinate vampire training. William and his friends led the wolves deeper into their ground where they met Kent and Brent eagerly waiting.

"Kent, Brent here so soon" William said to the duo.

"Yeah, can't be late on our first session. Plus I have to continue my family's legacy in being specialists in combat and vampire killing, it's the least I could do in honour of my mom's memory" Brent said as he tried his best to hold back his emotions.

"I understand Brent, I really do. It reminds me of when my grandfather died. He used to ride a bicycle just like me and even got a motorcycle. I vowed to ride a bicycle just like him and that's what I have his name written on my bike and my helmet to remind me of him every time I take my bike out for a spin" William narrated.

"Right, Kent and I can take it from here"

"No problem, just let me know when you're done" William said before bolting away and splitting into two groups.

William was able to send Eric a message telling him of their accomplishment and he was pleased. He wished that he had made progress like they did as they were stuck in traffic. After their little chat, William joined the others in patrolling the forest as Brent and Kent drilled the pack of four agonisingly.

Keisha and Mary were the resident cooks on ground so the pack came to the house to eat. Brent the Quadpack, as he called them to the house to eat even though it didn't settle well with Brian, Ethan, Connor and Keisha who were reserved in talking with them. William accepted them with open arms because he knew, even if they tried anything funny, the were more than them and could easily kill them. They chugged down the lunch Mary and Keisha made for them though it was a burnt offering.

"Oh God, I can't take it anymore Keisha!!" William screamed as he walked up the stairs into the house.

"Yes Will?"

"No offence but the food is horrible" William said as he got ready for a slap.

"Then why didn't you guys says so, Mary and I were wondering how you guys were eating with no complaints whatsoever. Don't worry, we would call for pizza now" Keisha said with a smile.

"What a relief, thanks babe" William said with a sigh of relief.

Keisha walked to the phone and ordered four pizzas and then turned her attention to William and put her hand on his cheek. He was feeling at ease when her soft hand was placed on his cheek and was about to get a real shocker. Keisha put her hand further back to his ear and then pulled it down to her level making William squeal in pain. This alerted everyone outside and Mary rushed into the house to see what was happening as she thought Keisha got burnt by was she was cooking and the voice sounded feminine. The others soon followed and to their surprise it was William begging for mercy.

"Next time I don't do something right you better tell me. I hate it when people lie to me and do you promise never to lie to me again"

William nodded his head telling her that he won't lie again and she let him go. The boys laughed at him as the almighty William could be humbled by his woman. He hobbled on to his feet with his ear red, and met up with the boys and sat down. He also informed them that pizza was on the way and they can finally abandon the burnt offering they have been trying to eat. At the back of Will's mind, he hoped that his parents were making progress with the pack they went to visit.
