RESENTMENT

Huiqing woke up sweating profusely from her sleep. What was happening? Her whole body felt like all her blood was rushing to her head. Holding the two sides of her head, she struggled to cope with the pain that was consuming her.

Bai Lian woke up feeling like someone was wrong. Yes. Something must be wrong. Suddenly she noticed that the temperature had gone cold.

"Huiqing!"

Standing up, she rushed to Huiqing's room. Huiqing had gone pale. Her eyes had already turned white like she was a ghost. Even the whole room was getting frozen. Using a fire spell, Bai Lian used it to warm Huiqing. Thank heavens she had arrived in time. Slowly Huiqing's complexion started coming back. After an hour of warming her up, Huiqing finally collapsed to the bed making Bai Lian exhaled with contention. She had finally managed to quell the ice storm Huiqing had been going through. But what would happen next time? There was no more delaying it. She had to help Huiqing ascend earlier than expected.

Su Ying woke up with the feel of someone tapping her. Rolling of to her side, she hoped the tapping would stop. To her dismay, this unknown person kept tapping her even the more.

"Su Ying. Su Ying. Su Ying, get up." She heard someone familiar say.

Maybe she was dreaming. No. That person sounded like her second brother. What was he doing in her room?

She opened her eyes immediately as she struggled to see through the light ray of the sun. She was not dreaming. Her second brother was indeed here. Shouting, she sat up covering herself as she shifted away from her brother.

Xie Bai watched as Su Ying jumped up shifting away from him. What happened? Did she have a nightmare? Time was not on their side. Master would soon start looking for them.

"Are you awake now?" Xie Bai asked checking the door.

"What are you doing here? Don't tell me... Did you sleep here?" Su Ying asked checking herself.

Xie Bai smiled. So that was why she had jumped up like she had seen a ghost. He watched as she continued checking herself. She was adorable.

Just then Jiu Bao entered the room. Looking at them, she walked to meet them anxiously. She had been keeping master busy thinking they would arrive anytime. An hour had passed and they had still not come.

"Su Ying, why are you still undressed? Go and get dressed quickly!" Jiu Bao said scolding her.

"Why? First sister, why did you two come and wake me up so early? Is the world coming to an end?" Su Ying asked jokingly

"I wish that was the case. Master has summoned all of us to the main hall." Jiu Bao said

"What!" Su Ying shouted getting out of bed.

Bai Lian sat down mediating. Where were those kids? Opening her eyes, she looked at Huiqing who kept on looking at the door. Just then she saw all of them arrive. Su Ying was busy trying to arrange her dress as she entered.

"Where are all of you coming from?" Bai Lian asked making all of them halt immediately.

"Greetings master" All three of them said kneeling down.

Shaking her head, Bai Lian took a deep breathe.

"All of you, take your positions" Bai Lian said as they took their seats surrounding Huiqing who was in the middle.

"Master, is there a problem?" Su Ying asked her master.

This formation was familiar. They had always sat surrounding Huiqing who always stayed in the middle. Master had said this formation required a sort of medium. Huiqing served as that medium.

"Ssshhh" Bai Lian said to Su Ying.

After all of them were seated well, Bai Lian nodded to Jiu Bao and they all understood. Summoning their powers, they all transfered it to Huiqing.

Meanwhile the heavenly king sat down in his study angrily. The dark realm were just too much. Okay, the reason for his foul mood wasn't the dark realm in particular. It was because of the dark king. Yesterday, he had received a report on how the nature guardian had gone to see the dark core with her husband. Jealousy burned deep in his soul. He didn't want them to reconcile. No. They shouldn't reconcile.

After so many years and he had not forgotten her. If he had not chosen his revenge over her, maybe they would be married. Yes. He had married the late heavenly queen just to spite his brother who had gotten everything. The love of his parents, the admiration of the heavenly realm. Everything he wanted. After his brother had gone into cultivation, he had finally seen his opportunity. He married his brother's love.

Speaking of the devil, the ice god passed by his study making him even more furious.

"Ice god. Ice god." The heavenly king said calling the ice god who halted.

"Dear brother. This is a surprise" The ice god said entering the room.

"Can you please stop walking on water? You are making my study wet" The heavenly king said making the ice god look down smiling.

He never liked walking without water. Although every place he walked was surrounded with water, he also liked annoying his resentful brother.

"I heard that the four cores are getting unstable. This must all be because you didn't keep an eye on the blood core as you should. You never fail to show how irresponsible you are. That's why you never deserved to raise Fengge" The heavenly king said wanting to hurt his brother.

"Make no mistake resentful brother. The only reason why I didn't raise Fengge was because I was cultivating. For your own good, you shouldn't drag Fengge into our feud. This feud is just between you and I. Besides, Fengge is the only descendant who can inherit the heavenly throne. You don't have any other son" The ice god said smiling.

"I am not afraid of you. At all. Besides you cannot ascend the throne. Your powers have been tainted already" The heavenly king said

"Yes. My powers have been tainted. But just know that the reason you are able to sit on that throne is because I have not made a move against you. You are just so adorable when you are stupid" The ice god said happily.

"Don't insult me" The heavenly king said

"What? You may have stolen the throne and everything from me but very soon, you will return everything to Fengge whose my son. Yes. My son." The ice god said smiling.

"You!"

"I have better things to do than to talk to a muddle headed resentful king. Take care" The ice god said turning into water.

After he left, the heavenly king pushed everything in the table down in anger.

"That good for nothing idiot! I hate him! I hate him!" The heavenly king said pushing the table down.

A servant entered inside when he heard the noise.

"Your Highness, are you okay?" The servant asked

"Go and summon all the Consorts" The heavenly king said angrily.

All the Consorts sat down in the late empress's main hall waiting anxiously. Being a concubine of the heavenly king was the greatest prestige anyone could wish for. Many young female gods who had just ascended fought for the opportunity. But not all that glitters is gold.

Despite the years of being the heavenly king's women, none of them had been able to give birth to a heavenly prince or princess. None except the late empress who had died as a price.

Upon seeing the heavenly king, all the Consorts stood up to greet him. He hardly summoned all of them to one room. And judging by his face, he was furious. When they all sat down, each one started debating the reason for the gathering.

"Do you know why I summoned all of you here? After the death of the late empress, how is it that not even a single one of you can produce a heavenly prince?" The heavenly Kong asked while the Consorts remained silent.

"What? None of you have anything to say? Useless!" The heavenly king said angrily

"Your Highness, please be calm" They all said kneeling down.

"Yes, Your Highness. You are still in your prime. This matter. You should not worry about it" One of the consorts said

It was obviously useless to continue scolding the concubines. Standing up, the heavenly king left the place unable to continue staying in the late heavenly queen's palace.

"The ice god thinks I am going to name Fengge as the new heavenly king. No. I would rather die than to do that. I must think of a way to get rid of that bastard soon enough" The heavenly king said walking the gardens.

Unknown to him, the ice god had been sitting on top of the tree planted in the garden. Seems like reconciliation was no longer an option for the both of them.
