2 Promotion

After sealing Akio's body, Akimitsu waved his hand, then chakra threads appeared from his hand connecting to all the destroyed automatons. As Akimitsu sealed the broken parts, he muttered to himself:

"I cannot let these parts go to waste, after all, it took me a great deal of time to make these automatons that looked exactly like the Alloy Race. Luckily for me, I used Genjutsu on my team to truly believe that they were members of the Alloy race. However, now that I have opened the Mangekyou Sharingan, I should probably make sure that no one actually noticed something odd about my Genjutsu."

After doing all the clean up, Akimitsu headed out the rendezvous point with the members of his squad.

As soon as Akimitsu arrived, his team noticed his arrival however, they soon noticed something was wrong. Their usually jovial and cheerful squad leader had a gloomy and scary demeanor; more importantly, he was alone.

"Sir, where is Akio?"

"He's dead," replied Akimitsu indifferently. The soldiers sighed, and did not say anything more. This kind of thing was too common amongst the branch members.

One person patted Akimitsu's shoulder and said: "At least you have awakened the Mangekyou Sharingan; this should be some sort of comfort." However, the latter remained cold and indifferent.

'It seems that I can use Akio's death to explain my sudden change in temperament. Furthermore, it is documented that people who awaken their eyes are often accompanied by a change of mentality,' secretly thought Akimitsu.

He then proceeded to a tent that was different than the others; it was more majestic--signifying the rank of the person.

In the corner, one of the soldiers looked at Akimitsu while thinking to himself: "Akimitsu first awakened his Sharingan after losing his best friend--whom he loved like a family. Now, the Mangekyou is awakened after losing his own brother. Is there a secret behind this sudden awakening? Maybe I should investigate further."

After entering the tent, Akimitsu saw a man with a Byakugan reading a bunch of documents.

"Captain Chiba, I've come to report."

Chiba raised his head from his document, looked at Akimitsu; he was not that surprised by his eyes as he could notice the giant Susanoo rampaging, even so far away.

"It's good that you are back alive," replied Captain Chiba. "You can just write a report about the incident and submit it to me."

"As you wish, Captain."

"There is no need to call me Captain. Now that you have awakened the Mangekyou Sharingan, according to the clan's rule, you will also be promoted to Captain."

Akimitsu was not surprised that Chiba became a Captain with just a Byakugan. He learned a long time ago that the branch family of the Otsutsuki was different from the Hyuga clan.

For once, their Byakugan had a second awakening process that was on par with the Mangekyou Sharingan. With this awakening, the user will have the ability to control a force field around them and push or repel people away with it; it is similar to a smaller and weaker version of the Pain's Almighty Push, or to be precise, the same power that Kaguya used when she first landing on Earth and met human in the anime.

Second, these Byakugan users also have access to Kaguya's Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack. Akimitsu once saw his Captain destroy a complete body Susanoo with such an attack during a competition with another captain.

Meanwhile, Chiba paused for a moment, then continued: "I'm just about to have a meeting with the Commander. Come with me, and I will report to him directly so that your promotion can be quicker."

After that, Chiba took Akimitsu to a room in his tent, then used his Byakugan to activate a weird object. Soon afterwards, Akimitsu found himself in a strange room with many people forming a circle.

The first thing he noticed was the fact that everyone in the room had either a Byakugan or a Mangekyou Sharingan. In a higher spot, a person with a Rinnegan could be said, overlooking everyone else.

'Is this a technique similar to the one the Akatsuki used to communicate long distance with one another?' secretly thought Akimitsu.

"Chiba, why did you bring someone unrelated to the meeting?" asked one of the people. However, Chiba ignored that person's words, looked at the person with the Rinnegan and said: "Commander, I brought a talented Squad Leader from my squadron that has awakened his Mangekyou."

Suddenly, someone in the meeting snorted disdainfully before saying: "Talented? Can he compare to me?"

Chiba looked at the speaker with an ugly look, then responded: "Todoki, there is no need to flaunt your talent to everyone. Just because you directly awakened your Mangekyou Sharingan does not mean anything; there have been many people like you among our branch members. Some people even directly awaken their Tenseigan or Rinnegan.

"Akimitsu awakened both his Sharingan and Mangekyou in the span of a year, of course he is considered talented."

Todoki sneered and responded: "So what? He still can compare to me. I can feel that my Rinnegan will awaken in a few months, then I will be promoted to Commander. After that, it is only a matter of time before my Bloodline Atavism is achieved, then I can grow my beautiful horn and officially hold the name 'Otsutsuki'.

All the faces of the people in the room became very ugly after hearing this, except for Akimitsu who was still indifferent. He could tell that this Todoki was the kind of very arrogant branch member that let power get to his head.

"Enough," said the Commander with a raised voice, then he looked at Akimitsu. "From now on, you are officially a Captain. Your squadron will be determined at a later day. If you have something to say or ask, do it now before the meeting commences."

After pretending to hesitate a while, Akimitsu asked: "Commander, I would like to go back to my home planet to bury my brother beside my parents."

The commander was a little surprised by the request. According to his understanding, most people of the clan are usually very indifferent and cold to each other, even to family.

Since the Otsutsuki clan is a race that can actually benefit from swallowing their own kind, the concept of familial love is almost non-existent. And such ideas have also been passed on to the Branch members.

"If this was any other time, I would have accepted your request, but the recent situation is quite dire. All I can offer you is a few days of rest," replied the Commander, and Akimitsu nodded his head.
