18 Revelations - 1

"I-I can't be mistaken…see this…It's the Royal Insignia! Only one entity in this world has the authority to wield this signature…", As he gulped down together with everyone else, he continued, "…O-One of the Progenitors of the New World is right behind this giant wall!"

"Uh…yeah? So…what am I supposed to do now, sir?" Kirishima asked with an aloof expression on his face.

Oswald was shocked at the response and, well, anyone would be, if they followed this world's common sense, that is.

"Hey brat…I have been wondering this for a while but are you an idiot?" Oswald continued, "Are you not aware of the sages?"

"Eh? I never said that I don't know them, I am very well versed with everything sir…That's why I asked what am I supposed to do now?" The young guard continued with the same indifferent expression.

'Hmm…Ugh…Was I expecting something more of a reaction from him…well, never mind that, there's something more important to be done right now.' Oswald was having a pensive conversation inside his mind but broke through soon after.

"Fine! Listen to me, now, everyone! Send an informant to the royal palace and inform the king about the current situation. Contact the royal knights and ask for the escort team as soon as possible."

"Yes Sir!!" Like some soldiers on a field, they all shouted in sync to the command of their general, Oswald. As they say, Life is a battlefield.

"And you, take me to them right away. Also, someone get the guest room prepared quickly, we have to offer them some kind of refined hospitality as, we, at the very moment, represent the Vitalis Kingdom." Oswald said while walking away with Kirishima, to meet Leona.

CIEL'S POV

Well, what do we have here now? I thought that the civilization was still mid-range but I guess they do have their own shares of developments in the metropolitan region.

Steel spikes were used on the top of the wall interconnected with different embroideries which is only possible if they are a highly developed country, industrially. Another possibility, a more simple and believable, would be that it's all due to the magic…If I have to say the procedure, it should be something like this, according to the number of fantasy fictions I have read:

Fire magic to melt -> Earth magic to shape it up -> Water magic to make it as brittle and hard as possible -> Wind magic to polish the object.

There are some loopholes in it, I may be wrong with some of the basic procedures, but this is just a basic understanding my brain's providing me with.

Regardless, it all may just be my speculation since I read it before that the affinity for magic is rare in this world and since we would need a lot of manpower to perform this, in a more fantasy like manner, it makes sense to assume that the city's industrially developed.

Anyways, I will explore as much as I can once I enter the city…when will I though?

"Mom, what was that batch like thing that you handed over to that guard? Some kind of entry pass?" I ask her while she's standing in front of the gate with a lousy expression.

"Oh, yeah, it's kind of a pass, to be precise…it's called an 'insignia'."

"Insignia?" So she is someone with some power and authority in the politics of this country, I guess. But, isn't she, a normal owner of a normal shop in a countryside? What's with this unexpected mystery reveal.

"Hmm…that's common sense, you aren't aware of it, Ciel?"

Ah, crap.

"N-No, like I was wondering…" Uh, what should I say? Sh*t, think something, think something…ah. "I was wondering why the guy went inside with your insignia? Couldn't he just let us go after verifying it with his own eyes? That's what they are here for, I presume."

"Ugh, too many questions at once. Shut up for a second." She continues, "I told him to show it to the authorities inside. It's been a while since I last visited here and wouldn't it be useless to have such a thing if I can't even use it to it's fullest."

'Uh, well, so she wants someone to escort her basically…I am getting tired, with just the thought of it.'

"That's a very suitable reason, alright."

After, around ten minutes, the guard returns to us with an old man behind him who…looks a little bit scared?

"It took you quite long to get a simple thing done, huh?" Mom starts the conversation with a calm but heavy tone, probably applying some kind of pressure while showing off her authority. Quite witty and necessary if I say so myself.

The guard stays silent and his eyes…look a bit strange as if he's hiding his dismay to something or towards someone with that stern gaze.

"Eeek! I apologize for such improper behavior, good lord! Please excuse us this one last time, the royal knights and the king has already been informed of your arrivals…The reinforcements will be here soon so please let us take care of your hospitality if I am not being rude." Damn, the old man spoke the entire thing so fluently although he does seem a little more scared.

But still…the king? What position do you even hold for him to appear here? Well, he didn't really say that but still…I am curious, really curious.

"Well whatever, it's fine that way. I do have some time to spare on my clock." Oi Oi, what do you mean, you have some time to spare? Where did all this buffed-up attitude appear from, all of a sudden? It's as if she's treating them just like me, just like some gullible human trash.

With a sigh of relief and a smile on his face, the old man bows down his head in obligation, "Aah, Thank you for the understanding, Great Sage, we will follow you up to the guest room.

Hmm, great sage, huh? Wait…sage…wizard…magician…magic?

Eh?

Ehhhh?

Is she someone really powerful with an affinity of magic that I have been ignorant of or have been kept ignorant of?!

"Mom?!" I call out to her in surprise but calm myself down, a bit.

But as a reply, not even a verbal one at that, she looks at me pulls her tongue out displaying the good ol 'tee-hee' posture. She seriously knows how to catch the right string at the right moment to end one's patience.
