Chapter#16: My day off

Jenifer woke up due to some sobbing voices. She saw a girl standing at the window and crying. It was Medora. Her dark hair were opened and the wind made them wave in the air. Jenifer got up and asked, "Are you alright Medora?"

"I need help." replied Medora while crying.

"How can I help you? Tell me. What can I do for you?" Jenifer put her hand on Medora's shoulder. Medora was still facing the window.

"REVENGE!" Medora turned around and cried out in a horrible voice. Her face was cracked, eyes were filled with blood, and some kind of black liquid came out from her mouth.

Jenifer fell down on the floor. Her lips changed to blue. She went white. She felt the layer of horror getting inside her.

The girl suddenly disappeared and the floor below Jenifer cracked. Jenifer could barely move. It cracked again. Jenifer slowly tried to reach her bed but boom, the ground opened wide. "Help me!" Jenifer cried out loud when her eyes opened with a shock.

"Are you alright Jen?" Medora came running to her.

"Just a bad dream." sobbed Jenifer.

"You scared the hell out of me." Medora laughed.

"I'm feeling hungry. I should go get my breakfast." Jenifer uttered. She brushed her teeth, went to have her breakfast and came back to her room to get ready for her work.

"Okay Jen, I'm about to leave." said Medora while wearing her long brown coat.

"Leave…where?" posed Jenifer.

"I've to go find some work for me. I can't live like this, don't want to be a burden on your family. Don't worry I'm not leaving home." told Medora.

Jenifer got ready for work and she was about to leave when Jack called her, "Jen where are you?"

"At home, I'm about to leave, why?" Jenifer spoke out.

"I've taken a day off for today." told Jack.

"A day off?" posed Jenifer.

"We've been working hard on our project. A day off will give us some time to relax."

"hmmm..so I should go meet Lauren today." uttered Jenifer.

"I've bought tickets to your favorite amusement park. I thought it'll be fun if we spend some time together and get to know each other more."

"So are you coming to pick me up?" Jenifer asked.

"I'm on my way to your house. I'll be there in fifteen."

After sometime Jack came and off they went to the park. When they arrived, Jenifer got out from the car and inhaled the air, "It's been a long time I've been here."

Both of them went inside. They had to wait in the never ending lines buy they also had fun there laughing and talking. Jack bought Jenifer a stone bracelet which she liked a lot.

"What is this for?" asked Jenifer.

"I thought you'll like it." answered Jack.

"I do love it but how did you know?" posed Jenifer.

"Back there in school days, you mentioned it once." told Jack.

"But it was a long time ago." uttered Jenifer

"Don't you like it now?" asked Jack.

"I love it." Jenifer smiled.

They ate a lot of cotton candies as they were Jenifer's favorite. They took photos with some fancy circus characters. Jenifer loved the water rides. It was all splish and splash. They both had a lot of fun and they loved spending time together.

They also played some games. Jack played the game of shooting the balloons and he won. He had to choose a gift for winning. He chose a lava lamp and gifted it to Jenifer as he remembered that she loved it a lot.

"You know that I love lava lamps, don't you?" Jenifer asked.

"I know many things about you which I don't even know about myself." Jack smiled.

"Make it clear jack." Jenifer pressed.

"We were classmates remember?" exclaimed Jack.

"Anyways thank you!" Jenifer thanked for the lamp.

Both of them had a good time together. The haunted house was left to try out.

"It's getting dark jack and the park's about to close. Let's go back." uttered Jenifer.

"Don't tell me you're afraid of the haunted house." laughed Jack.

"I'm serious here. Let's not go in there." cried Jenifer.

Jack held her hands and said, "I will never let anything happen to you."

He held her from her arms and both of them went inside. They laughed at the creepy things. Suddenly Jenifer saw the girl from her nightmares standing at the dark corner. Jenifer screamed, got herself out of hold and ran outside. Jack came after her. She sat on a bench outside and started to cry. Jack held her in his arms and made her quiet, then he asked Jenifer the reason that why was she crying and why did she came out running. Jenifer told him everything. Jack got shocked after hearing this all, "I think something out of this world is happening with you."

"I can't bare it anymore." cried Jenifer.

"Hey Jen!" Jack held her face and looked into her eyes, "I'm not going to let anything happen to you. I just want you to be brave and fight it. So, this is the reason you were anxious to unveil the mystery of the house."

"Jack I need help. There's no one I can trust." Jenifer cried.

"I'm always there for you and beside you also have your best friend Lauren by your side." Jack hugged her.

The park was about to close. Jack and Jenifer went to a nearby restaurant to eat. Jack ordered some noodles with meat balls, fried fish and chips, and some fried rice.

"My favorite!" cheered Jenifer.

"Well I remember that one day on a school trip you told Lauren that how much you loved fried fish and this all stuff so I thought to order it for you to make that smile look a bit more smiley." smiled Jack.

"I don't even remember that trip or I ever said that, you used to notice me all the time I think." Jenifer spoke out.

"I never noticed you. I only heard the voices because I was standing behind you both." Jack uttered.

They both talked about their school days. Jenifer felt good with jack's company. The food was here after sometime. "Let's start eating now." Jack said.

"How are we going to finish this all?" uttered Jenifer.

"Start eating and you'll find the plates empty soon." Jack laughed.

They ate everything. It was finger licking. It was too much for two people but they cleared the plates. Not a single thing was left.

"I'm full." laughed Jack.

"But I'm still left with some space for the ice-cream." Jenifer laughed.

"Yeah, we should go get some ice-cream now" uttered Jack.

They both walked to the ice-cream shop which was only a street ahead. Jenifer had the Choco-crunch and Jack had vanilla with some strawberry flavor. Both of their ice-creams were covered with some chocolate chunks, chocolate sauce and wafers.

They walked back to the car. It was cold and dark. They drove back home, laughing and talking. This was the best day Jenifer had after a long time.
