Chapter 23 - Lola
I woke up at eleven and remembered i had a lunch date with Xander. I started getting ready, i tried calling Tank but his phone was not answered so i decided to go to the cafe with my car. I reached there at quarter to one, and texted him that i was at the cafe. I chose the table that was to the corner because that is what he liked. As much as i was mad at him i figured that he had learned his lesson so i could forgive him. So yeah i was finally ready to start over.
I have been waiting for an hour. I called him for the fifth time but there was no answer so i gave up. I went through the menu and when i was about to order someone sat infront of me, i almost smiled but the idea disappeared as quick as it came when i saw who the person was. "Luke, what do you want?", i asked sounding bored, which had nothing to do with him. "Who ruined your day? I just came for lunch and the view", he said checking me out. I rolled my eyes. "Hey i know you have a boyfriend with serious anger issues but honestly i just want us to be friends because Amanda said you're good people and i trust her. Truce?", he said offering me his hand, i took it. "Xander is my fiancé and yes i know he has anger issues so don't provoke him. Please?", i asked pretending to beg. "I promise", he said crossing his heart making me giggle.
It was our first time at the cafe so we asked for the specials and we ended up sharing everything. He turned out to be an amazing guy. He told me about his journey in business and asked me how i met Amanda, he was touched telling me that Amanda never opened up to people that easily so it was a good thing. "This was a day well spent, thank you Lola", he said and i accepted with a nod finishing my milkshake. When the waitress came she gave him the bill which we fought over but he ended up paying. We walked out and i couldn't help but notice how women in the cafe were staring at him. "Does this always happen with you?", i asked looking around and he smiled. "Sort of... i don't understand it either", he said stretching his muscles on purpose, making them ogle at him openly. I rolled my eyes pushing him aside playfully. We laughed. It was actually really good.
"Hey Xavier, what's going on?", i asked a pacing Xavier when i walked into the living room. "Dana has been kidnaped and X and Nick have been trying to find her since yesterday night. Nick is going crazy, X and Tank have gone MIA", he said looking deep in thought. Oh god, i was busy enjoying a meal while my fiancé could probably be fighting for his life somewhere. "When was the last time they heard from them?", i asked. "Twelve, but nobody knew the location of the meeting only him and Tank, something about a past rival being released from prison wanting revenge", Nick said entering the house pouring himself a drink. I felt so lost and guilty, i could have gone to the club and checked when he was running late but i didn't, i fucking didn't. "Hey, he is stronger than both of us combined i know he is going to be ok", Xavier told me but it did not make me feel better. I ended up being even more worried.
It's ten at night and my phone rang i went to it i record speed. It was Doctor Summers. "Hey Lola, i have sent the address on text please follow it and bring Nick with you. You can only tell Xavier about it ok?", she was panting but i had no choice but to agree and hang up. I knocked on Nick and Xavier's rooms, and showed them the location. It was one of the safe houses that they owned. We went together. When we reached the house i was given a bullet proof vest, my hands were trembling so Xavier put it on me. They told me to stay in the car as they inspected the place. They returned after like twenty minutes and told me it was safe, what they did not tell me was the blood bath that was in the house. There were like ten dead bodies. I looked away because they were massacred and i couldn't even tell if some were human.
We went up the stairs and in the first room we found Dana unconscious, she looked half dead but the drip gave me hope that she was ok. The second room was Tank who had bandages all over his body. When we opened the third one we found Doctor Summers fixing Xander's dislocated shoulder. He had blood all over him, i felt tears starting to fall all over again. When our eyes met he tried smiling at me. "Baby girl, it's not as bad as it looks", he said trying to hide the pain from me. "You said you were done with this", i said still sobbing on his other shoulder. "She is family, i had to save her", "I know", i said kissing him slowly not to hurt his busted lip. "I love you", he said making me pull back to meet his eyes. "I love you too", i said kissing him again. He hissed in pain, "am so sorry", i said moving away quickly only to see he was hissing from the injection Doctor Summers just gave him.
Some men came after us and started removing the bodies and cleaning up. I went to check on Dana, i found her sobbing on Nick's chest, something about her boyfriend being caught i the crossfire dying on spot. I felt bad but i also saw how Nick held her. That was how Xander held me the first time he took me to the mansion. He loved her. Xander was right.
