Chapter 16 - Xander
I watched as the idiot ogled my girl's bouncy and sexy ass when she was walking to the stage. I wanted to strangle him but i respected Mr. Reeves and didn't want to have problems with him. Not before i got the evidence of the money laundering.
I was proud of Lola, she was a hard worker and am not just saying it because of what Amanda said but because of people from my Marketing team have been telling me. She was punctual and never played when it came to her work. I can see why she clicked with Amanda, she was a workaholic just like my Dad.
She hugged Dad and took a picture with him and Amanda's Dad. She returned to her table and i saw how her coworkers were staring daggers at her. I would be jealous too. We had dinner and when i was done with my food i went to collect my girl from her table. They were talking about some accountant girls that kept flirting with anyone they got their hands on tonight while laughing, i had to clear my throat to get their attention. She smile at me and the rest just stared in shock. "Excuse me, may i steal her for a dance?", "Of course!", the most cheerful one said making the rest smile and nod along. I pulled her to the dance floor making sure to give Tank her trophy.
"You look breathtaking tonight baby", i whispered in her ear biting her earlobe in the process making her moan. I smiled when she swallowed so hard. "Thank you...thank you for the dress too", she said just above the whisper. We danced until Dad came and told us he was leaving. He was our ride so we had to leave too, i gave her a few minutes to say goodbye to her colleagues.
"X, can we talk?", Dana asked, i was about to give her one of my short discouraging answers but when i turned to her she looked broken and sad, i didn't blame her, Nick was ignoring her the whole night. He kept flirting with every woman that gave him attention and that was alot. I had to divert from a couple of them too, they still approached me even after my public display of affection to my Lola. "What's up?", i asked. "I want to break up with Nick", "What?", "Yes, i want to break up with him, i mean i want to be in a serious relationship, i want what we had. It was real and i want it back", i smiled. She was officially crazy and i could not find a way to answer her without pointing out that fact. I took a deep breath. "Dana, i know that Nick and you have issues and am sorry that you are going through that but Xander has moved on and begging him and throwing yourself at him wont fix anything so i suggest that you take his actions for tonight towards Lola as a hint and do the same, move on", Amanda said from the sitting room entrance, Dad was behind her wearing his pajamas so i figured he went to the door to welcome her. He looked at Dana as if he was waiting for her to make one wrong move. I have dated Dana for a very long time to know that she never wanted to show anyone her weak side so trust me when i say i was shocked when i saw tears running down her cheeks as she walked out of the house.
"Thanks for that Amanda", i said to break the silence. "I didn't do it for you so you better treat Lola the way she deserves to be treated not like that dirt bag", "What dirt bag?", Dad asked. I release another breath. "She was in an abusive relationship before this, her ex would rough her up for money", "What?", i understood the frustration in my Dad's voice, he saw Lola as a daughter he never had, of course Dana too but the bond he had with Lola was different. "I took care of it", "So the first time she came here from the hospital was not the first?", he asked sadly. "No it was not, even i didn't know until it was too late, at first it was just missing work and then too much make up on, i questioned and she would always cover for him, that is until her insurance noticed an abnormality and the hospital had to reach out to the company for permission to perform a procedure on her", Amanda said. I could see it was difficult for her to talk about it. "Lets look on the bright side, Charles is gone and here we are", i said drowning the last whiskey i had and stood up. I was going to see if she was done showering, i couldn't wait to hold her. I said goodnight to Dad and Amanda and went to our room.
"There you are, i thought you went to the club", she said from between the sheets. She got up and kneeled on the bed calling me closer using her index finger, i smiled and walked towards her wondering what she had in mind because i was so onboard with it.
