Chapter 11 - Lola
It is an amazing morning, i was so energetic despite trying to wake Xander up but, he was a heavy sleeper who knew. I decided to get ready for work. I kissed him goodbye, he kissed me back but eyes still closed, he looked cute. How can a man like him be in the Mafia, i did not want to know.
"Aaah, yes, faster...faster", If i had a button to rewind back to when i was kissing my Xander that was the time that i was going to use it because seeing my boss and my boyfriend's Dad on our kitchen counter was not what i had in mind when i woke up. "Oh god, i didn't see anything", i said trying to rush out the room forgetting about coffee, tripping over a coffee table and a chair in the process. I heard curses but didn't bother to look back. How was i going to look at them in the face, like seriously, i have never seen Amanda like that nor have i ever dreamt of it, she was like a sister to and where do i start to talk about Xavier, my Dad and my sister, who does that? it was never going to be the same that was for sure. I decided to finally use the car that Xander bought me because he was using Tank for the day something about and errand from work. It was luxurious Mercedes, "Good morning Beautiful", Nick said as i was pulling out of the drive way. He was coming back from a run so i did the most logical thing, pressed the brakes to say hi to him. "You like what you see?", "What?", did he think i was checking on him? oh god! "Good morning Nick and no i like my men bigger", i said with a smirk not knowing what came over me. He was stunned but smiled back anyway and allowed me to pass.
"Uh, Lola, can i talk to you at the office for a sec?", Amanda said after avoiding me the whole day. "Sure, i will be right there", i was about to leave my cube when a delivery guy came to my spot, he had flowers and i knew they were for Amanda because Xander already knew i loved lilies. "For Miss. McKall right?", i asked with a smile only to be disappointed. "No Ma'am, it says here for Miss. Rivers", "Oh ok, that is me then. May i know where they are from?", i asked curiously only to be told that there was no sender address so i signed the delivery note and placed them on my cube. I couldn't keep Amanda waiting.
"So, you and Xavier huh!", i teased making her blush even deeper. "Look, i know that he is old enough to be my father but-", wait did she think i was judging her? "Wait Miss Amanda, if you think am judging you then there is no judgement here, the only thing i care about is whether or not you're happy with him. Are you?", i asked looking at her with a smile, she nod her head so fast making me laugh. "He is amazing Lola", she said sitting properly, "I have dated alot of men but none of them come an inch close to Xavier, he is the best, he listens to me and doesn't think am too ambitious, he is just the one i think", "Have you guys said the L word to each other?", "I almost did last night, but i was drunk and i just hope i didn't because that would complicate things. He is still moaning his wife and am scared that if i tell him now then i might be giving him a dilemma, i want him to do it first, that was i know that he is over her you know?", I nod my head in agreement. "He might be taking longer to tell you but i assure you that he is equally in love with you just like you are with him, trust me", i told her with a smile. I was finally bonding with Amanda in a way that i never thought possible, i mean, i already considered her my sister but dating men from the same family was out of this world. "Am happy for you Miss Amanda", "Thank you", she said, her face full of hope. She was happy, i liked it.
My phone started ringing the moment i settled in my cube, i did not know the number so i just answered by welcoming them to the company and how i could be of service. "Lola you have a very beautiful voice", "Excuse me, who is this?". "Apologies love, it's Leo. Did you like the flowers?", "Oh, thank you. You didn't have to Leo, it's against company policy so please don't do it again", "I asked one of the accountants and she told me it wasn't", shit, those women were really getting on my nerves. "Fine you caught me. I have a boyfriend and he is a jealous type so please can you not send them again", "Look Lola, i am a man that loves competition so if he truly loves you then he should should not leave you unattended like that", "W-w-what do you mean?", "You will know soon love, enjoy your evening", he finished and hung up leaving me with more questions that answers. I took the flowers and dumped them in the kitchen dust bin. "Where did those came from?", i turned to see Amanda with pouring herself a cup of coffee. "You shouldn't be doing that, it's my job", "I know, now answer the question", "Leo bought them for me, i told him to stop and that i have a boyfriend but it's like he just doesn't want to hear it, what if he meets Xander and makes a scene, he will think that am not faithful", "Hey, relax, Xander loves you and he wont believe Leo even if her tries to come between you two ok?", she assured me but i really had a bad feeling about Leo and the fact that he was our client meant that there was no avoiding him.
