Sage Brothers

The Mo Clan first team finally reached the inner part of the Darkwood Forest.

Weather it was unfortunate or not, they had not met any demonic beasts on their way—most probably due to the presence of several other cultivators who were, like them, training in preparation for the entry to the Wasteland.

One good thing though was that at least the team came to a mutual understanding to settle their differences for the meantime.

The designated scout, Shu Liang, meanwhile was hopping through the branches ahead of the party when suddenly she saw two groups of cultivators fighting each other.

'Wabooooom.'

'Baaam, baaam.'

One of the groups consisted of four members of Experts while the other was a pair of Sages cultivators—apparently the pair of Sages were mere spectators in the upcoming event while the group of Experts were probably participants.

Even if the pair of Sages appeared to be outnumbered, they were obviously getting the upperhand.

Shu Liang thus stopped and gestured to her group to halt as well. She then approached her team members and relayed what she just saw. Thereafter, all of them stealthily peaked into the battle.

When Mo Shui saw the fight, she immediately recognized the pair of Sages. They were top disciples of a great clan in another city.

She recognized them since the pair were once participants in the regular matches among clans held every three years.

Those pair, known to be the 'Blazing Sword Brothers' were known to be savages for making it appear to accidentally kill their opponents—the brothers were at the peak Earth stage of the Sage realm and were only at age of 14 and 15.

"That's the Blazing Sword Brothers!" Mo Shui suddenly said.

Hao Ren and Lin Qiao looked intently at the direction and eventually recognized the pair of brothers. Hao Ren's early show of arrogance quickly transformed into instant fear.

"What should we do?" Hao Ren asked.

Qai looked intently on the battle.

"Look..," Qai said in a low voice while he pointed at something, "..over there!"

The grouped looked at the direction of his finger. And when they saw what Qai pointed at, they realized the cause of the fight.

It was a thousand year 'Coriander' herb with two stalks!

Anyone at the half-step Sage would greedily want to obtain such precious herb since it would instantly help him or her to breakthrough to Sage realm.

"Let's wait and steal the herb," Shu Liang suggested.

Hao Ren was about to refuse when all of a sudden a heavy killing intent burst forth from the battle.

'Wabooooom.'

'Baaaaaam.'

The Blazing Sword Brothers released their strongest skills and instantly killed the four experts.

And what surprised Qai's group all the more was that the brothers appeared to be aware of their presence.

"You should come out from where you're hiding," one of the brothers yelled obviously calling Qai and his group.

Immediately after he said those words, he threw a huge 'Fireball' towards the direction of Qai and his group.

And when they saw the incoming attack, they all left their positions to evade the fireball.

'Waboooom.'

"If it isn't the Mo Clan," one of the brothers said after recognizing some of the faces of Qai's group.

"You brothers sure know how to prey those weaker than you," Mo Shui said.

"Ha ha," the other one of the brothers sarcastically laughed. "So what!? Those weaklings tried to steal our precious herb here.."

"Steal?" Mo Shui replied. "Who would try to steal from you!? From the way it looks, it seems you bullied those guys to get your hand on that herb."

"Who steal from whom doesn't matter.." one of the brothers said. "Whoever gets in our way will naturally taste the wrath of the Blazing Sword Brothers!"

"And since you're here, we can have some more fun.." The other said.

And right after he said those words, he released another fireball—but this time, it was bigger than the earlier one and it was speeding its way in the direction of Qai's group.

'Waboooom.'

Qai, Shandian and Shu Liang jumped on one side while the Mo Clan members on the other. The group was eventually split in two.

That was what the brothers actually hoped to accomplish. And each of the pair would face half of Qai's group believing that their Sage strength would overwhelm the young Experts.

But what the brothers did not expect was what eventually happened next.

Qai instinctively released five successive lightning arrows from different angles to the confusion of his enemy while Shu Liang appeared from behind the enemy with her quick movements.

'Swoosh,' 'swoosh,' 'swoosh,' 'swoosh,' 'swoosh.'

When the arrows hit the enemy, they stunned him hard making his attempt to activate his skill predictable.

Qai and Shandian approached him quickly on two sides while Shu Liang who was already behind released her 'Wind Blades.'

'Whooom.'

Right there and then, Qai followed up his sister's attack with his 'Thunder Fists,' while Shandian activated his ferocious 'Ligthning Claw' to seal the assault.

'Thud,' 'thud,' 'thud,' 'thud,' 'thud,' 'thud,' 'thud.'

'Roooaaaaaar.'

'Baaam.'

The movements of the three were so fast and so coordinatedly flawless that the other side of the fight was yet to begin the battle.
