War has truly dawned upon us

I am walking back to my tent, and while I was passing through, I can feel the heavy atmosphere of the camp, the flickering flames barely helps in appeasing it. "General Magne" a man called my name, and hastily gets closer to me.

" I would like to discuss something with you sir" the man adds after getting closer. I look at him with indifference and proceeded to invite him into my tent to discuss.

"Take a seat. What do you wish to talk about Casper?" I said as I sat down upon my chair. "It is about the plan, are you sure the deaths of civilians is necessary?" Casper said worryingly.

" I do not have enough power to dictate what will the military follow, but I can assure you that we are not making unnecessary moves. I hope you understand that Casper besides I didn't say anything about civilian deaths necessary"

" We will attack the town this night right?"

" Yes, a few hours from now, we will move"

{a few hours later} (Change of POV)

"Jake, you can go now, it is already my shift."

"oh, thanks man."

"goodnight, Jake"

Jake lightly greeted back goodnight , clearly tired from constantly watching, especially in these times. I sat down at the chair, thinking of how my daughter is doing in the capital,

"I hope she is well". I smile lightly remembering her smile. "I should start wat- who is that?" I cut what I said and asked that the moment I saw what is in the edge of the woods. It is a figure, a burning figure. It seems to be raising its hands, and a stream of fire came out of what seems to be his palm." I need to warn everyone now!" I said that while running.

(Change of POV)

"Fire magic: Exploding Sun" I said before I sent hurling towards the town a perfect tiny ball of what seems to be lava. The Ball of lava whistled through the air, burning the grasses below its path. The trajectory of it is slanted, enough so that by the time the ball of fire reached the town, the ball of fire is right above it.

It hovered above the town's protective barrier spell, an enchantment spell embedded into the town itself, it remained there for a second , then it burst. The Explosion rang loud like thunder, and the shockwaves, blew strong enough to imitate the fierceness of the winds of a fiery blizzard for a second.

The strength of the explosion was weak enough to be sent in the opposite direction of the explosion's main force by the barrier, but just strong enough that a few seconds after taking the blow, the barrier dispersed into thin air, like it is never been there.

The 100 persons with me in this attack, immediately came out of the woods and quickly ran towards the town and did their assigned missions . To take the barrier core, and destroy the town's enchantment that is.

"Everyone! Run! there is an attack! take cover!" I ran through the town, constantly screaming these phrases when suddenly I felt it. I looked up, seeing its tiny figure above the barrier and feeling the enormous amount of magic in it. It exploded, I could feel its strength despite the barrier in the way, If I have been the target of that spell, the only thing left of me would be a blood stain on the ground.

(Oh no, this is really bad, how can we fight a monster like that? Wait, maybe that is that being's entire magic and its exhausted? Please Oh God, help me protect this place). I continue running till I reached the town center and there I saw a cloaked man standing, it must have been waiting for me.

" Die intruder!" I unsheathed my blade and dashed at the cloaked enemy, I charged my blade with electricity and horizontally slashed it at him. (I don't know how many are there but, I don't care, what matters is that they are attacking the town and I am its guard captain). It dodged it by going backwards, it then pulls out its sword, giving me a view of what is underneath the cloak.

(An Imperial Saksan soldier? and a general's guard no less) my eyes widened at this for an instant. his sword started to glow like gold, and he proceeded to slash downward. I quickly used my lightning energy and backed up to evade the enchanted attack, he chases and slashes again. For a few seconds, I only dodged his attacks until I was forced take on the 4th attack.

We traded attacks after attacks, I had to use a lot of lightning energy to keep up, and my hands are shaking by just our weapons hitting each other, and even then I am just redirecting the strength of the attacks. This guy, this guy is a monster, I am feeling a deep hopelessness when fighting him. Is this where I die? I feel fear at this revelation.

Suddenly he stopped attacking, he is just standing there.(Should I take this chance? he is full of openings. no no no, I can feel it, I can feel my death. If I were to attack, I'll die!).

He is moving, He plants his eyes on me. His face looks so feminine, with his skin looking as healthy as a baby's, supple lips, and eyes that shines like the rarest gold. One would not normally think that someone like this can harm even a fly, but this feeling of death is not fantasy.

" You are the most powerful person in this town, a lightning knight, and its guard captain according to our reconnaissance, is that correct?"

" So what, is you speaking about my status and capabilities gonna do anything?"

"Of course it will, for we are also aware that you are member of the 9 Great Clans of Saxonia and what else do you think we know about the 9 Great clans?"

"You know about my social status? to think a foreign country's person knows that, you must have an extensive spy network huh"

" Of course we do, my superiors would prefer to not give any trails to our movements, and your life seal breaking will not do us good. So would you mind surrendering now?"

It is best to surrender for now, I can use the enchantment given to me by the Clan Elder, She can use it to track my location. I will activate it when we reached the hidden location of their base, this can turn the war quickly into the favor of the republic if they can do a surprise attack.

"can you guarantee the town's safety?"

"What you may wish is not relevant, as you don't any have choice in the first place"

"I might as well die fighting you here then"

He becomes silent for a few seconds, seemingly thinking about I said. If my plan is snuff out, I might as well kill myself fighting here right now to avoid getting tortured. Even if he is powerful, I have a suicide seal on my mind, so I can kill myself when I get captured. He looks at me again, as if he is done thinking.

" I can guarantee the lives of those who do not resist"

This is the best outcome, a possibility of crushing the Saksan military and maintaining the town's safety. I let out a sigh of relief.

"I surrender" I then offered my hands after saying it. This might be painful for my pride, but the lives of the town and the people of the republic is at risk here.

I am walking through the forest, observing the peaceful greenery. I arrived in a small clearing and looked at the beautiful glow of the silver moon.

"It is not polite to sneak around you know, little one." I said as I lowered my eyes away from the moon and into the darkness of the woods.
