The Ordinary Transporter - Chapter 1

'I can't afford to see this every single time. Lifeless decapitated dead bodies were piled up aside for easy burial. Meanwhile, the rest of the soldiers are cheering for victory. It is a cheap victory when 5,000 train troops ambushed a defenseless village.

'Higher-ranking officers started ordering their men to escort the women that they had gathered back to the kingdom. The beautiful ones? They had long been escorted. They will either be sold to the nobles or forced to give pleasure to the high-ranking officers.'

'As the person in charge of the kingdom, I feel disheartened and terrified. This feels more like a group of bandits! My heart bleeds upon seeing innocent lives being taken away for other people's enjoyment.'

God, why do you have to do this to me?

The worse part of it all. I am currently living in a game that I had spent two years of my life playing. It's called 'Fantasy War'. It's a massively multiplayer online real-time strategy game that manages to capture my interest. The player acts like a deity, whose job is to direct instructions to the kingdom. The goal of the game is pretty straightforward. To conquer and be the ultimate deity of the server. It is a short-lived server with a lifespan of 3 months each. Of course, players can still continue to play within the server but there won't be any major events in it anymore.

From the looks of it, this kingdom seems to be one of my early gameplays when I started playing. A small crucial mistake leads to a snowball and causes most of my troops to be defeated. As a result of that, I had abandoned this world to create a new one.

'Once my troops had gathered all of the food that they can store, we travel back to my kingdom.'

- Your troops had gathered 100,000 worth of food.

- 20 of your troops has been killed

'Gather? It's more of pillage to me. I've got a confession to make though...'

"Hey, newbie! Stop goofing around and help out to carry all of this food back to our storage warehouse!" A muscular man frowns while yelling at the top of his voice. Directing his instruction to a weak skinny man that seems to be daydreaming.

"Right away sir!" A skinny man wearing a tattered uniform scrambles away to the nearest food to perform his duty.

'Have you guess it? I am not a king even though I have a system that calls me a king. How ironic.'

'Open Status'

- Total Population: 758,021

- Total Soldiers: 115,233 [+]

- Food: 105,875

- Wood: 476,000

- Stone: 823,500

- Iron: 556,343

'How disappointing, even though they have just stolen 100,000 worth of Food, the rate depletion of food is just too much. These men will have to go out once again to steal more food'

'I travel to this world not too long ago. Exactly one week ago, where I woke up to find myself bound to this weak body of mine.'

'His name is Ryze, without any last name as he is just a commoner. In this world, you need to earn your last name, kind of ridiculous if you ask me. Other than that, he was living in an orphanage, living a poverty-stricken life. I don't even know whether his parents are alive or not. I doubt I would want to refer my parents as the one that kills innocent lives to keep the kingdom going.'

'I almost forgot to mention how I can give instructions to the king of this nation, similarly like a player except here, I can see how the orders are being passed on.'

'The first time, I instructed them to build more farms, there was a sudden celebration that took me off-guard. The king of this kingdom, Anderson the third, greatly informs everyone that the god is back. Once the news is out, everyone was crying which crepes me out, to be honest.'

'Later on, seeing the impressive builders and farmers working hand in hand gives me hope that the kingdom is still salvageable. I got too hyped up and decided to help out in gathering resources, which I regretted the most.'

'The game didn't give the impression that we are stealing the resources from someone else. The only option that we can do there, is to either station our men or gather the resources.'

'It's naive for me to think that the resources would grow by themselves.'

'Living in the army barrack gives me a lot of free time to look into this kingdom diplomacy talent, their general levels and finally the research department. Not much I can explain, diplomacy talent is another function to improve the kingdom's condition. It focuses on mainly the player, the kingdom and the generals.'

'Example, there will be a sign-in notification that appears every day after the time has pass 2400 hours or 0000 hours. Using one talent, I can slightly improve the amount that I received every day. Let's pause on explaining the rest of the features. One of the kingdom generals has come to the barrack eatery quarters.'

A dignified woman wearing impenetrable armor accompanied by a pair of her loyal bodyguard, slowly walk towards the front of the room. She turns to look at everyone before letting out a sigh. One of her bodyguards step forth and voice out.

"Orders from the royal court! Those that wish to test themselves to join the frontline step forth! Of course, this comes with benefits as well as risks. If I were you, do not ever join us! If not for the orders from above, I wouldn't want to step in this pathetic quarter. That's all!"

The general and her bodyguard silently awaits for any courageous men, that despite their warning decided to come forth and join them.

It didn't take long before the general left the quarters without any men joining their group. The two female bodyguards use 'glare' to everyone in the quarter while giving coward remarks as they are leaving.

'I bet everyone had guessed, this is one of my powers. I intend to recruit additional men within the ranks so that I can deploy them to fight off monsters. Yes, there are monsters in this world. Each monster is also divided into ranks.'

'This is transporter quarters and as you can see, everyone within the military look down upon us. We do not engage in fights, we only carry stuff. During the time where the kingdom doesn't get deployed, everyone just slacked away.'

'Tomorrow will be the day where the farm is created and the day where I will start farming monsters. Before I forget, let's build an additional medical center. According to my calculation, it will be build before the army comes back from the fight.'

~ The next day

"Everyone gather up! Today will be a fruitful day! The army has been dispatch to eliminate the deadly demon wolves! Each one of us will receive double the reward!!" The person-in-charge, Captain Edward voice out his joy before joining the army behind.

'It didn't take long before everyone morale to go down after being looked down by the rest of the army. Even the group of archers push up their chest while looking down on us. Even though they only shoot arrows from behind. How laughable.'

'Today general, as one expected is the general that came by the transport quarters yesterday. The only woman that manages to become a general. General Elizabeth. She was brought up by her noble parent but unexpectedly got disowned and join the military. My bad, for not reading her lore. The reason for me to deploy her is not to increase her experience. This is just to test whether ten thousand men are enough to eliminate the level one wolves, if not she can die for all I care.'

'It is her fault for showing that much hatred to my quarters. Even though I just joined, the way these men treat me is like a family. I had become that attached that's all. Sorry, not sorry, it is your fault that you are will die today.'

'Despite that, her level is eight. Strong enough to defeat a lot of rank 1 wolves if you ask me. In-game terms I guess.'

Beep*

- Research to increase Food level 1 has been completed.

'Great, now let's upgrade it to level 2.'

"HALT!" The loud voice revibrates across the land. Powerful enough to stop the formations.

'From afar I can see fifteen messengers are dispatch to inform each quarter what is their next instructions.'

Our captain's eyes shooked and turn into anger for a short moment upon hearing the orders. He waits for the messenger to walk away before he instructs the orders.

"We are to standby further away from the main army, in a case that the army is defeated we are to immediately rush back to the kingdom." The captain, Edward gives out the order while clenching his fists.

'Everyone knows no matter how fast we run, we will not outrun the messenger that owns a horse. Thus, upon reaching the kingdom, the people would have already known about the news and seeing how there are no casualties from the transporters. The people will look down upon us even more.'

'The look on each of their faces of anger terrifies me. Well, when you look at the point of view of the general if the frontlines are defeated. What is the point of sacrificing the transporters? They might as well go gather more resources for the kingdom.'

The horn is sound, to inform the approaching wolves from the distances. Two thousand demon wolves charge recklessly lead by the alpha wolf. It is thrice the size of an ordinary human being. The large sharp and bloody fang terrifies the veteran spearman who had engage countless battles. As I have guessed wrong, ten thousand men are not big enough to overcome the fear of two thousand wolves.

Upon contact, the spearmen engage in a bloody battle. Body parts flew across the battlefield. The roar engulfed the screams of pain that comes from multiple spearmen. Even though the numbers of spearmen are greater than the demon wolves, the strength ratio is too great. The general is forced to immediately take action. She signal the spearmen to retreat while she charges straight into battle.

Cavalries from both sides tried to flank but their formation is destroyed by the roar from the alpha wolf.

'Sigh, I am not that heartless. Let's see. Use increase strength card on Elizabeth deployed troops.'

- 1x Strength Card has been used

'This card will increase the attack and defense of the targeted troop deployed. I wouldn't want ten thousand men to be sacrificed in vain just for my experiment. As for how I get this card? It is the sign-in daily bonus which I inform previously.'

"The god has given us the strength to overcome this battle, everyone on forth!" General Elizabeth didn't hesitate to use the word 'God'. She proceeds to charge towards the alpha wolf with her new given strength. Ending the battle quickly so that there will be fewer casualties.

The battle continues for another forty-five long minutes, the people engage in the battle felt like for every minute passes is like an eternity to them. They couldn't wait for the fight to end.

While in the transporter side, some are expressing their joy every time one of the soldiers fall in battle and some are yawning. Looking at the sun and checking how much time has passed since the battle has started.

The battle ended when general Elizabeth manage to stab the alpha wolf in anger after one of her bodyguards receive a fatal injury. Despite the end of the leader, the wolves continue to fight until the bitter end.

- Congratulations you have defeated 2,000, rank 1 monster.

- General Elizabeth has received 250 experience.

- You have received 50,000 worth of food.

- 783 of your troops have been killed.

- 3,277 of your troops is injured

'I underestimated the difference between in-game and real life. Previously I would have continued to experiment with the appropriate number of troops needed to dispatch the wolves.'

'Upon seeing the effect of my cause, the guilt I feel upon seeing 783 lives lost due to my carelessness and easygoing attitude is overwhelming.'

The transporters started their work in collecting the wolves. The injured troops are being transported first while the rest of the troops immediately bury the casualties.

'I didn't have the mood to play god anymore while digging up the dirt to bury the dead.'

'My fault...'

'I am so sorry.'

'It is my fault that you have died.'

'Tears started accumulating and continues to block my vision. Once after I slowly wipe it off from my sleeve. I almost got a heart-attack seeing general Elizabeth up close.'

"Someone, you know?" The woman continues to stare at the hole while she asked Ryze a question.

"...Yeah." Ryze, hesitate for a moment before giving a short reply.

"You can blame me, it is my fault that your companion has passed away." General Elizabeth continues to stare at the dead that is piled up at the distance.

"General don't blame yourself! It is the royal fault for only dispatching ten thousand men! Bloody hell, fuck them!" The bodyguard beside her expresses her anger and grief.

'As if an arrow has struck my heart. I staggered, having difficulty to stand. She is blaming the wrong party. It was me that decide on the number. The royal is not part to blame. I clench my fist, no matter how much I regretted, time will not rewind. I promise myself that I will not decide people's lives easily any longer.'

Thanks for giving it a try.
