3 Alsh*t

| Saturday, July 22nd, 2023 (7:45 PM) |

Four years had passed ever since the day the portals first appeared.

An 18-year-old girl with a pair of dull, black eyes, and jet-black hair that was up to her upper shoulders approached a large, worn-down castle. She has scars all over her body.

Zombie-like creatures swarmed toward the girl. The girl easily subdued these monsters and made every single one of them perish. The moment she entered the castle, high-class demons began to attack her.

"I'm so done with this sh*t." The girl grumbled, decapitating a dozen high-class demons with a single swoosh of her sword.

She's a magic swordsman, so the magic she applied in her attack caused the demons to not be able to regenerate.

'The system said that my final quest was to kill the Demon King. If I manage to achieve that, what would change? Can I bring back my dead friends, comrades, and all those who fought alongside me?' The girl sighed.

'The dead cannot come back.' This was something everyone knew.

Although the girl had somewhat an idea of what the answer to her questions was, she decided to not go in-depth yet. Who knows? Maybe a miracle would happen and everyone would miraculously come back.

The girl kicked the door to the throne room open.

*BOOMMM!!!

The door was blasted off.

The Demon King who sat on his throne looked at the girl with a shocked yet amused face.

"Hahahahaha!!! You are strong, indeed. Welcome to my castle! It seems that my minions were nothing to you." The Demon King laughed.

"Today's the day you will die." The girl announced, activating her self-made magic circle.

"Oh? How courageous... You are not strong enough to even scratch me! Before I kill you, let me introduce myself first. My name is—"

The girl wasted no time and teleported in front of the Demon King in a flash. Her killing intent was so strong a middle-ranked demon would die by just being near her.

The girl gathered all her mana into her sword in a mere half a second. She slashed the Demon King's head off without any hesitation.

*SHINGGG!!!

The magic the girl applied to her sword created a huge explosion. In less than a few seconds, the battle ended.

Throughout these years, the girl had gathered a lot of information. She knew that cutting the Demon King's head wouldn't be enough. Although she had never fought the Demon King before until now, she tested her hypothesis on hundreds of other demons. These demons were the Demon King's minions. That means they were created by and are a part of the Demon King.

The girl found a solution after many years of doing research.

If decapitating the Demon King doesn't work, why not try getting rid of every single part of the Demon King so he doesn't regenerate?

This was exactly what the girl did.

*Cough, cough!

'Urgh... I might have miscalculated the aftermaths of this.'

The girl kept coughing up blood. Her vision became slightly blurry.

The skill she just used was something she spent a year creating and perfecting.

'That was quite disappointing... All the hard work I did these past few years... All of that for what?'

*Ding!

[Congradulations on obtaining the title, "Demon Slayer"!]

'...Seriously? That's all I receive?' The girl sighed.

She sat on the Demon King's— no. She sat on HER throne.

'At least I avenged everyone.' She thought as she opened her status screen.

A message appeared in front of Rem.

'It doesn't say MAX anymore…!!!'

Rem tapped on her new title again.

<Demon King Slayer (Activated)>

[Description: You've killed millions of demons; even their king…! With this title, your maxed level, stats, and tiers won't be maxed anymore! Instead, your level, stats, and tiers capacity increased!]

'It's nice that I'm not maxed anymore but… Why would I need to get stronger? I defeated the Demon King already. There's no human other than me who's alive. Why should I continue this pointless life? I did everything I could.'

'There's debris everywhere… How has this castle not collapsed yet…?' Rem wondered as she closed her eyes.

Before Rem could rest, a man with blond hair and sandy eyes in white robe-like clothes appeared next to her. The man was also wearing a shiny golden crown.

Rem shot her eyes open and looked at the man suspiciously. She inspected his stats.

[Name: Alicht]

[Race: ???]

[Job(s)/Role(s): ???]

[Level: ???]

'Who in the world is he? Just looking at him blinds me.' Rem's brows furrowed in discomfort.

(A/N: Just imagine reading with light mode on… (/д\))

"Hello there, human. My name is Alicht, the God of Light. I'm here to congratulate you for successfully defeating the Demon King." Alicht smiled.

'What is there to celebrate? My family, friends, comrades... Everyone but me is all dead!'

"If gods exist, why didn't any of you help us??! Maybe it's because you so-called 'gods' just watched us all suffer and die!" Rem yelled in anger.

Alicht kept a straight face. He continued to smile at Rem, but Rem could see how he was just putting on a facade.

Rem felt irritated.

"What kind of god are you??! Alicht, the God of Light? More like ALSH*T, the God of all sh*ts!!!" Rem growled.

The smile on Alichit's face disappeared.

"How dare you, you ignorant brat! All we did was make your world a little bit more entertaining than your usual, boring world... We were the ones who gave you powers. You should be grateful!" Alicht glared at Rem.

'That motherf*cker. He sure is showing his true colors fast.'

"You were the ones who created these portals and made these creatures appear...?" Rem asked, facing Alicht for confirmation.

"That's right. We—"

"We never wanted any of this…! Everything was fine before! YOU WERE THE ONES WHO MADE THIS WORLD INTO A LIVING NIGHTMARE! YOU KILLED EVERYONE!!! I'm the only one left...!" Rem said, gritting her teeth in rage.

"So what? You can only blame yourselves for being weak!"

Alicht looked down at Rem coldly.

"If you didn't bother us, nobody would have died! Why? Why did you have to do this...?" Rem's voice cracked.

No words could describe all the emotions Rem felt at the moment.

"What do you mean, why? Of course, it's because I felt like it. You know, being someone as great as I, gets pretty boring sometimes." Alicht claimed.

Just as Rem was about to say something, Alicht spoke again.

"Well, anyway... Let's get straight to the point. I don't want to waste any more time here in this filthy world. This world is too dirty for someone like me to be in."

"Since you managed to defeat the final boss by yourself, I shall reward you! Not everyone can defeat the Demon King solo. Usually, they all just die. At least this time, we saw something entertaining." Using what seemed like magic, Alchit summoned a bright, vivid sword.

The sword was shining in a bright gold color and it had a shining yellow gem in the middle, near the handle of the sword.

"I shall personally grant you a quick death," Alicht said loud enough for Rem to hear, raising the sword.

Rem tried to dodge the attack, but she was unable to move for some reason.

'W-What...? Why can't I move? Just why—'

The sword pierced Rem's heart.

"Urgh... You...!" Bleeding heavily, Rem could feel her blood gushing out of her body at an immense speed.

"You should be honored. I rarely use this magnificent sword on humans like you." Alicht pulled his sword out of Rem.

*Cough, cough, cough...!

Rem coughed up blood.

"If... If I get another chance in life, I'll make sure to destroy every god like you and avenge everyone!" Rem yelled, clenching her teeth in anger.

"Hahaha! You're so funny...! Too bad that something like reincarnation doesn't exist! Even if you do get reborn, you will never defeat us. It's impossible! Just give up and die already!!!" Alicht laughed.

Rem collapsed onto the floor.

Her consciousness slowly started to fade away.

"I'll surely... Someday, I'll kill you and make you regret what you did!!!" Rem used up the last bit of energy she had.

'Just you wait! I will get even stronger and then kill you with my own hands...'

Rem began to feel her body temperature turn cold.

She soon lost all her consciousness.

[HP: 0/2,000,000]

After seeing that Rem's not moving anymore, Alicht left happily.

He couldn't wait to tell the others about what had happened.

Rem's cold, lifeless body lay on the freezing floor covered in a huge puddle of blood.

•••

Rem regained her consciousness, but she was unable to move.

She found herself surrounded by a dark void. Everything around her was black. The only thing that was there was Rem.

Rem looked at herself, feeling strange.

'This...! I'm not in my body... Why am I floating? I'm a... Huh??? What is this...? A glowing, black flame? Is this what it's like to be dead...?' Rem asked herself curiously.

All of a sudden, she heard an unfamiliar voice in her head.

{Granting the User's wish... The User's wish cannot be granted…! Generating a solution! ERROR... ERROR... Viruses detected...!!! Resetting all levels and stats... Successful! Transferring to another world... Completed! Transferring memories... ERROR! Cannot completely transfer all of the User's memories! More viruses detected...! ERROR... ERROR! Unable to get rid of the viruses…!!!}

'What. The. F*ck??? Who was that? Error? Viruses? What does that even mean? I don't understand… What's happening??!' Rem couldn't comprehend what was going on.

She was never a superstitious person.

Although Rem's intelligent, dying, being in a dark void and being turned into a black flame, and then having to hear a robotic voice in her head say that there are errors or viruses or whatever, would confuse just about anyone.

'Why can't I just rest in peace?????' Rem groaned.

She tried to puzzle things together.

{Detected something unverifiable! EMERGENCY! Automatically locking all versions of the system... Successful! Teleporting… Now!!!}

Rem couldn't do anything before losing all her consciousness again.
