1 The Beginning
Year 21XX, Eastern Europe. A young and ambitious man, who just graduated from highschool, has just bought his first DDVR(Deep Dive Virtual Reality) console, the "Jotaro" system.
"Finally, after 5 months of barely scraping by, I can finally enjoy video games like everyone else! These part time jobs were killing me!"
The console consisted of 3 parts. The console itself, the "halo" which the user put on his head, and the 2 cables that connected it to the power and internet.
Having existed for a few years, a lot of DDVR games have been developed. Racing, Horror, Simulations, Rhythm and all the other genres, the most popular of which is the MMORPG. People have started investing so much time and money into DDVR games, even most TV stations and online broadcasts were about the games.
The game that most of the world's population has been playing since the dawn of DDVR is an MMORPG called Pangea - a medieval fantasy game so realistic, the developers had to restrict the amount of time users could spend inside the game to just 13 hours a day! It's simulation of the 5 senses every human had, was the pinnacle of neural simulation technology. Everything except pain was simulated exactly like real life. Pain was reduced to just 10% of the actual feeling, so players did not have to fear it inside what is essentially a dream world.
The game took place on a giant continent called Pangea, named after the world itself, and had 5 major factions, 3 races, and 7 classes. Most of the 5 factions were constantly at war with each other, except for the second largest faction - Cerebra, which focused on the creation and trade of potions, scrolls, books and other items and skills used for healing, buffs and gaining intelligence. Everyone was free to enter and leave the lands of Cerebra, but was forbidden from fighting any player or NPC. Duels were still allowed, but a player could not die during a duel.
While our gorgeous narrator has been briefly explaining the world of Pangea, the young man has finished installing the console in his home.
"Okay, it should be all set up. Let's try it out."
His vision went dark. None of his 5 senses worked, but then, suddenly, he heard a very cheerful and friendly female voice inside his head:
"Welcome, brave traveller, to the world of Pangea! What is your name?"
As soon as the voice finished asking for his name, a microphone appeared in front of him. He got his face closer to the microphone and said:
"Gatto"
A brief moment of silence...
The female voice was heard inside his head once again:
"Are you sure want your name to be Gatto?"
"Yes!"
He confirmed, and after that, his vision went dark again. A bright flash of light emerged, blinding the player. His eyes quickly got used to the light, and a beautiful vista appeared in front of him. Lush green plains, surrounded by a thick oak forest on one side, and a beautiful, giant, snowy mountain to the other. In the middle of the plains, two dirt roads naturally collided with a small town in the shape of a V. This town was called Minston.
This time, a deep and husky male voice spoke to Gatto:
"Traveller, your journey begins here, in the small town of Minston! Your first objective would be to enter the town and find the adventurer's guild!"
Gatto thought to himself:
"I'm in the game? Where are the classes? The races?"
In Pangea, you chose your race and class after finishing the introduction quest, which Gatto just received. But he didn't know that.
"Well, no use staying in one place. Let's enter the town!"
As soon as he started walking towards Minston, a bag was placed over his head. Some kind of blunt object hit him on the forehead and he lost consciousness. He got kidnapped.
