The Day My Dreams Have Fallen

(What the hell happened here? Why are they all lying on the floor unconscious)

"Xavier, what happened here?" Augustine added while I was shocked to see them lying in the ground, unconscious.

"Don't know what happened to them, and I was only standing here, and then they tried to attack me, but at some point, here they are unconscious," I responded, clueless on what happened.

"Bro, why dont we report them to the principal and tell them what they did to you?" Augustine responded and offered a solution.

"But what would we tell them about this? They are here lying unconscious without any witnesses to prove that it wasn't me who did this?" I replied.

"You know what, why dont we bring them to the clinic and tell them the truth about what happened? Sounds good?" he suggested, and therefore I agreed.

Carrying three men is a burden for the two of us. And besides, these three guys attacked me without me knowing the reason behind their actions. Although, I can think of possible reasons for them to hate me, with these baseless rumors spreading in every corner of the school.

However, it is still a mystery for me because how did the three of them get knocked unconscious while I was the only one inside. Did I somehow unconsciously defended myself? I mean, it's not the first time this happened.

It also happened in the park when a group of students ganged up on me, so there is a high chance that it was me who did this. However, today is not the right time for me to think of what happened in the restroom. What I need is to think of a way on how to return everything to normal.

As we successfully carry these three to the clinic, there was a sudden announcement from the broadcast network of the school.

"Xavier Carter of class 3-1, please report to the Principal's office immediately," an announcement made by the principal.

It was a very unusual occurrence that the principal would call for someone using the whole school broadcast network. It left me clueless about why they would want to talk to me. As far as I know, I have a clean record in terms of offenses.

Even Augustine was confused when he heard my name, but the only Xavier Carter in that class is me. So I headed towards the office of the principal since she wanted to talk to me about something, I think.

Outside the office, I gathered my strength because nobody has ever seen the principal personally. It's either her assistant or someone she can trust. When I knocked at the door, someone inside has spoken and told me to come in.

As I open the door, the principal was waiting for me inside. And believe it or not, she looks like a humble person to me. However, when we started with our conversation, all my anger that I tried to conceal burst out in a nutshell.

"Xavier, my name is Mrs. Jacqueline Smith, and as you might already know, I am the principal of this school. Many rumors are speculating about you around the school. I don't believe in these rumors but to protect the reputation of the school. I, therefore, declare you dropped out of this school effective immediately. The police consider you a wanted person for the crime of attempted murder," Ms. Jacqueline notified me of the situation.

"What the hell? Why should I be the one who suffers when all I did was protect myself from them? I moved out of the house so I can live a peaceful life without them. But here they are blaming for a crime that I never once committed. You dont even know the full story, but you chose to kick me out without further notice," All my frustrations burst out while talking to the principal.

"Xavier, I understand you. But please consider that we cannot let the school fall because of your problems," Ms. Jacqueline responded, trying to comfort my anger.

"No, you never once took the time to understand me. You chose the reputation of the school and declared to kick me out without even asking me what happened. I was the victim here, but you made me feel otherwise. You're no different from my family," I responded and slammed the door violently.

When I walked out, Augustine saw me slammed the door. He immediately asked me what happened because he was able to notice the frustrations that I am currently feeling because of what the principal has said.

"Bro, the principal kicked me out of the school," I answered him, still trying to hide my frustrations.

"What! Why did they kick you out? Is this because of the rumors speculating around you?" He shouted angrily, responding to my answer.

"Then I guess that all of those rumors were true. My family filed a case against me. The principal informed me that I am now a wanted person because of attempted murder. Dont come near me anymore because it's enough that only me should suffer," I replied.

I ran speedily outside of the school, trying to escape and hide because there are chances that police would be around any minute now. But I heard some yelled, and when I looked back, it was Augustine shouting from the third floor, looking at me as I ran towards the exit.

"I will always be here for you, Xavier, don't worry. I'll try to help you and bring justice to you. He shouted to let me hear as I ran outside.

The thought of hiding ran around my head, but hearing Augustine shout those things assured me that the truth will always prevail. Going in hiding would only make me guilty and raise suspicion around me. Without nowhere to come, the only one I could think of is my boss.

It wouldn't be right if I dont inform her of the situation that is happening to me. Yes, there is that feeling of awkwardness around her because of what happened that day. But she is still my boss, and she deserves to know the truth about me.

(What should I tell her? She might think that bad about me)

Every confidence that I once had while facing is starting to fade. I put all my trust that she will be able to understand me since I once told her the story of my family. On my way to the store, I thought of going back and forth because I was nervous about what she will think of me.

As I muster up all the strength and confidence that I need, I entered the store with my chin held up high. However, when I saw her, it made things difficult for me since I dont want her to think of me badly. But she deserves to know the truth.

When she looked at me, and suddenly our eyes met, everything that I wanted to say was gone. Then she walked towards me, but I took a step back because I still feel awkward around her because of what happened that day. Although, her reaction seems a bit normal as if there was nothing that happened that day.

She caressed my face, asking if there was something wrong. It fluttered me for a bit that it gave me the courage to tell her the situation I am currently experiencing.

"Yes, boss, there is a problem. And this involves me quitting my job here," I chipped in, which made her ask a lot of questions.

"Why what happened? Tell me, what's the problem?" she replied with concern visible in her eyes.

"You know the situation I have with my family, right? And also the reason why I left the house and lived with my friend? They filed a complaint against me for attempted murder, and here I am now trying to get my head straight," I answered, trying to hide my tears.

"From the moment I saw you, I knew that you have a warm heart. You even helped me that day when it's not even a part of your job. You gave me something to look forward. If you ever need any help from me, feel free to call me and consider me as your family, not just as your boss. I will support you, Goodluck," she gave me a piece of advice that no one has ever given me before.

Because of her wisdom, she gave me the courage to fight for what is right. I went out of the store and waved her goodbye, then head to the police station hoping for a fair judgment because I believe that the truth will always prevail.

"My name is Xavier Carter, and I am here to turn myself in for the complaint regarding attempted murder," I told the police when I arrived at the police station.

Everyone was shocked to hear what I said, and they admired me for being truthful and honest. One of the police officers asked me why didn't I hide and went right through here.

"I believe that the truth will announce itself, and justice will win against everything," I answered his question, which made the police officer respect me for my bravery.

"I hope that everyone is like you, kid," the police officer responded.

They detained me for the upcoming trials that I will undergo for the next few months.
