19 Interlude 1

Location unknown.

Date: April 12, 20XX

Time: 3:38 PM

A handsome young man with spiky black hair and eyebrows and piercing dark eyes drove inside his grey Nissan. A business suit worn over a white shirt and black tie adorned his figure.

As he drove on a road overlooking the ocean, a call popped up on his car screen. He glanced down at the screen and saw the name of his Chief of Staff flashing on the display, and was filled with surprise. Karasuma tapped the screen, accepting the call.

"Hello," he said, concentrated on driving the car.

"Agent Karasuma," the Chief of Staff's voice echoed through the speaker. "We have a situation that requires your attention."

"What is it?" Karasuma asked. He had a bad feeling about this.

"A series of murders has occurred in Tokyo recently," the Chief of Staff said. "We need you to take charge of the investigation."

Karasuma's grip on the steering wheel tightened. They wouldn't call him if the number was low or if the people killed were of low status. "How many victims? Have you released this to the public?"

"We've counted 53 in the last 48 hours," the Chief of Staff replied. "All of them were members of a drug ring involved in dealing with cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, and that new aphrodisiac drug that's been circulating in Japan. A common link among all of them is that they've either dealt to kids, raped, or murdered. All dead with one bullet shot to the head. And no, the public has no clue yet. Mass panic will ensue if news got out."

Karasuma felt a cold shiver down his spine. "What's the status of the investigation?"

"Local law enforcement is working on it," the Chief of Staff said. "But we need your expertise on this matter. This one is extremely dangerous, Karasuma. We suspect the murderer is a professional assassin. A highly skilled and lethal one. Someone who may be in the same league as the Reaper. We have a list of probable suspects, but none of them have taken responsibility for any of the murders, and few have the right motivation."

"I understand," Karasuma said, his mind already racing with the possibilities. "What's my first move?"

"Get to Tokyo as soon as possible," the Chief of Staff said. "I'll send you the details of the case on your way."

"Understood," Karasuma said, ending the call.

He took a deep breath and focused his attention on the road ahead, his mind already formulating a plan of action. As a military agent, he had seen his fair share of violent crimes, but that many kills in 2 days was mind-boggling, even if it was the Reaper.

Who was behind the murders?

Yamamoto stepped on the gas and sped towards Tokyo, his mind sharp and his senses on high alert. He had a job to do, and he wasn't going to let anything stand in his way.

Just a little segway for my next planned arc.

Also, I've read the recent comments about the pacing and am just going to stick with a slow-medium pace. It won't be that big of a change.

Sauce: Assassination Classroom.
