1 Chapter 1

I remember it as if it was yesterday.It was our graduation and I was given the opportunity to make a speech on behalf of everyone(my graduating class).As I made my speech, my eyes were filled with tears of sadness.Just the day before graduation,my boyfriend broke the news to me.''I'm  engaged".And the sad part about it is that he was engaged to my best friend Sara.I had seen these scenes in movies where someone's best friend always gets engaged to their boyfriend.For reasons such as : wealth, happiness, desire etc. Only in this case, it was about wealth. Jason's father had been sick for months with a disease that was only curable through a surgery.The fact of the matter is that his family didn't really have the money financially for that surgery to take place.So, instead of allowing his father to die, Sara's father (a good friend of Jason's father) agreed to cover up the surgery expenses with the exception of his daughter marrying Jason.I literally fainted the second both of them approached me and revealed the news tome.I cried for the entire night and right now;especially now;is the time and the right moment to cry.I took a deep breath in and then out. OK,you can do this Jessica.I began my speech."Class of 2014.............What was it? like 6 yrs ago ....and we're already graduating high school?."I asked looking at the audience.they smiled with me clapping and cheering....I took another deep breath in and out trying not to look at Jason.I kept telling myself that if I looked up at him,I was going to cry.I couldn't let that happen. I gathered myself together and continued.I was a privilege to make this speech on behalf of my graduating class.as you journey out to pursue your dreams and fill big shoes; just remember the memories that you gained here at Charlton high with your friends, the parties that were held every weekend....the cute boys, all those dates(o boy)...Cherish them and I wish you all the best in the world of work.Truly we have come a long way with this school thing.Our year have been a successful one. We had the cheer squad who won the state finals after so many years,the  basketball team who wet to the finals and brought home the trophy ,our junior presidents of America who represented us well the other day, the science department who invented a few incredible things for the use of the school and I can see the company's begging you to sign those contracts for those creative inventions ,the prom king and queen and I can't find the time right now to continue.It would take me the entire day, believe me.But, these are my final words to you." Dream big and go out thee and fill big shoes". It's the real world that we're in...so let's continue to live , laugh and have fun.Thank you", I added making my way off the podium to my seat.They all cheered loudly satisfied with the speech that I made.

"Thank you very much Jessica;that's our head girl and prom queen everyone. ", the principal stated with a smile.
