Nathaniel had gotten used to his new world and parents by now. His mother was a nurse at the Viridian City Pokemon Center.

His dad was a lower-level researcher for the Devon Corporation working abroad. Although the family wasn't the richest, they were happy.

They lived in a small house closer to the border of the city and the Viridian Forest.

They weren't in danger, as one might think because Nathaniel's mom had treated many of the Pokemon close to the house and they all knew the family.

When Nathaniel first realized he was in the Pokemon world, he couldn't contain his excitement. He had crawled around the house looking for Pokemon.

It was then he discovered an egg next to his crib. That was the start of a lifelong bond for Nathaniel.

Now, 5 years later, Nathaniel was outside, playing with the wild Pokemon under the watchful gaze of his mother. Next to him, under the cool shade of the oak tree, a sloth-like Pokemon was fast asleep.

"Slakoth!" Nathaniel yelled, "Come play with us!". Slakoth looked at him with his half-closed eyes and rolled over, once again falling asleep. Nathaniel remembered the moment he had gotten his best bud.

He had just celebrated his first birthday when, out of the corner of his eye, the egg had started glowing. He had watched as a small brownish Pokemon with a pig-like nose gradually appeared.

He looked in awe as the Pokemon turned to stare at him, then promptly fell asleep.

His dad walked over and picked it up before gently putting it on Nathaniel's lap. "You might not understand me yet, Nathaniel, but this little guy is going to be your best friend."

Nathaniel gurgled in joy, as he didn't know how to speak yet. His dad laughed and muttered softly, "I got this Pokemon from Hoenn, hopefully, he'll be worth it."

Shaking his head, Nathaniel stopped reminiscing and looked back at Slakoth. Throughout his short life, Nathaniel had tried to train Slakoth, but the only thing he seemed to know how to do was sleep.

After plenty of hard work, Slakoth had finally learned Scratch and Yawn. While both moves weren't particularly strong, they were the best moves Slakoth could currently learn.

Nathaniel was looking forward to the day he would set out into the great wilderness, catching and bonding with Slakoth and his other future Pokemon.

But Nathaniel was still just 5 years old, starting kindergarten. He still had 10 more years until he could set out on his journey.

Before he set out though, he had resolved to prepare wholeheartedly, not just gathering knowledge, but also training his body to keep up with his Pokemon.

A Pidgeot screeched high above, displaying its dominance in the sky. Nathaniel looked up to the Pidgeot, hoping that one day, he could be as strong as it, soaring through the sky without a worry and exploring the vast world.

Unbeknownst to him, in another region, far away, a certain blonde-haired girl was staring into the same vast sky, hoping to explore all of the Pokemon mysteries and myths.

Just a note, I adjusted the age that pokemon trainers start to 15 cause a 10 year old going out on his own into dangerous forest doesn't make much sense.
