17 Chapter 17: Hoop Academy (2)

Class A1-1 was where all the elite families gathered. Amaris wondered, her hand resting on her cheek, who was responsible for all this. Did they expect something to happen when children from families that were in constant competition with each other were in the same class?

Amaris sat in the back row, so she had a good view of the whole class. Her father had given her information about the children of all the elite families and she had memorized it all. Knowledge was power, so she learned everything about her rivals.

So she studied her rivals. He saw Hope Duncan in the front row, reading a book. Hope Duncan was known for her kind and knowledgeable personality. She was an innocent beauty with auburn hair and hazel eyes. Although she made those who saw her feel the urge to protect her, Amaris knew how strong she was.

When her father and mother died in an S-level dungeon explosion, Hope and her older brother Jin went to their grandmother's house and became members of the Duncan family. They came under the protection of Ophelia Duncan, a brilliant assassin and one of the eleven SSS-level hunters nicknamed the Black Widow. Ophelia Duncan was the head of the Moonlight Knowledge Guild.

On the right side of the classroom, she noticed a person dozing with his head on the desk. He had dark blue hair and eyes of the same color, a face with sharp jaw lines and a face that fascinated everyone who saw him.

From time to time she could see girls sneaking glances at his handsome face, blushing shyly and turning their heads away when their eyes met.

Felix Creystone.

He was a prominent member of the Creystone clan of elite eleven families. His mother Sabrina was a Hunter of the SS rank, while his father Michael was a Hunter of the SSS rank. They were a wealthy family that held a significant amount of the mana reserves in the Blue Panther Guild.

Despite his lethargic personality, Felix Creystone was ambitious and competitive. His bow skills, a family legacy, were already commendable.

Finally, sitting right next to him was Dante Hatt. She had already met him in the dungeon, but Amaris was curious about Dante and Cale, so she had researched them both. Dante was very handsome, Amaris admitted, with dark hair, sharp blue eyes and broad shoulders.

But what intrigued her about Dante was not his handsome face but his past. He did not belong to the elite or to the subordinate families of the elite. In fact, he lived in a slum outside the city of Python, where he lived a miserable life.

The village he lived in was destroyed by the Black King, an evil force that now rivals the elite families. The Black King was a madman who had somehow managed to harness the power of chaos without going mad and wanted to spread it across the world.

Dante and his village were a dumping ground for his ambitions. Dante had lived in an orphanage there after losing his parents at a young age, and when he had his awakening at the age of ten, the testers saw potential in him and brought him to Armageddon City to the pre-academy pre-slayer training center.

Now, as a result of the skills he showed there, he was here with the support of Diane Reinhart, SSS level hunter and head of the Hoop Academy.

She looked at the changing mood in the classroom as five people entered, three girls and two boys. Amaris watched blankly as they laughed and chatted with each other.

Elliot Trevor was the prized grandson of Sam Trevor from one of the elite eleven families. When his parents died in a wave of monsters when he was young, his grandfather took him and his older brother in and gave them all his love. Sam Trevor's grandchildren were his precious treasure.

Like his grandfather, Ellitot was very handsome with black hair and black eyes, but unlike his grandfather, he had a cynical personality. His family was partners with the Donovan family in elixir making. Because of this partnership, Elliot was engaged to Amy Donovan, who was next to him.

This couple smiling at each other fascinated those who saw them. Elliot had the potential to make every girl fall in love with him with his gentlemanly demeanor as well as his sarcastic personality. His dangerous smile had a charm that drew every girl into his trap.

Elliot was a flame elemental user and wielded a mace weapon called the morning star.

Amy Donovan, unlike her future fiancé, had a cold personality. Her blonde hair fell to her shoulders and she was very attractive with turquoise eyes that made the sky envious and full pink lips.

Amy was the prodigy of her grandfather, Fred Donovan, who had the gift of the spear and the lightning bolt. Her arrogant and cold nature came from her confidence in her abilities. She considered anyone but her own equal as nothing more than an insect.

Veronica Cecil, on the other hand, was a girl with an air of arrogance that surpassed even Amaris' grumpy personality. With her short brown hair, small round face and big green eyes under her round eyes, she was a witch, despite her innocent appearance.

Her higher intelligence than other people made her look down on everyone. Her mother Olivia was an S level hunter, while her father Johannes was a SSS level hunter. They were very powerful, with high-quality weapons for hunters and a method of defending cities.

Veronica also seemed to have a special talent in this area. She was a shield wielder who, when there was a group battle, could not only increase the strength of her friends in her group, but also had the ability to heal.

Sylvie Vernon was undoubtedly the most beautiful of them all, with aqua green hair and eyes the same color. Her cat-like eyes gave her a wild beauty. Sylvie was an earth elemental user and a mage.

The Vernon family was popular for cards that allowed even non-mages to cast spells. His mother Rineh was an S level hunter and his father John was an SSS level hunter. They were among the most powerful families with innovative ideas and valuable breakthroughs.

Amaris looked last at Damien Heart. He was very handsome with white hair, sparkling blue eyes like jewels and a chiseled jawline. He was called a genius among geniuses because of his talent and his growth rate.

He had a stubborn and ambitious nature. Stuck in his own truths, he believed he was the best of his time and made it his responsibility to keep his place and do things that would benefit his family.

Damien Heart was a light elemental user and, like Dante, wielded a sword. His father Kane Heart was a SSS level hunter light elemental user and swordsman. His mother Vanessa was an SS level hunter mage.

His parents were masters of artifact making. At auctions, there were many people pouring millions of C to buy artifacts that were mostly made by them.

Sylvie and Damien were also engaged as Vernon and Heart were in business together. Damien was also the second child in the family and had an older sister. She was a third year student at this academy and was the president of the student council. His sister Penelope was engaged to Elliot's older brother Eric Trevor.

Eric Trevor was also a fourth year student and was known for his gentle personality, like Elliot, despite his flame elemental use and fierce strength. Penelope, like Damien, had white hair and blue eyes, a beauty that made even fairies jealous.

Unlike Damien, she was a sorceress instead of a swordsman, so her skills were among the best. She was self-satisfied with her cold personality and her ambition to be the best.

Penelope Heart also had a rival from the same era. Brendon Igor. He was the favored son of the SSS level hunter Ivan Igor, head of the Igor family. Brendon was extremely cunning in contrast to his outwardly kind and loving personality.

Penelope and Brendon were both proud, but Brendon also had a keen mind that knew how to put pride aside when it was for the greater good.

As the five of them found a seat in the front row and settled in, Amaris stopped looking at them and frowned at the person who came to mind. She couldn't find any proper information about him. All he knew was that at the age of eleven he had worked in a monster factory in Deshmar.

Something about him was mysterious to Amaris. Amaris was a user of the elements of water and flame, as well as a master of magic swords. She was highly sought after because of her magic and swordsmanship, because her father Douglas was one of the most powerful SSS level hunters, and because of her family's power.

But that wasn't Amaris' only talent. Amaris had a unique sense of mana. She could smell it and manipulate it. This was a gift that came from her mother Helena, an ice elemental user. Her father was a genius at using blue flames, while her mother was a master of mana manipulation.

The Reagon family was famous for their yellow dragon eyes, and her mother's yellow eyes, though not vertical pupils, made it very clear that she belonged to that family.

Since she could smell mana, she was all the more curious about Cale since she felt neither mana nor aura from him. He was the most handsome man Amaris had ever seen, with long red hair that reached to his shoulders like a sunset, gray eyes that shone like moonlight, and sharp features.

Amaris's face contorted between a frown and a smile as she remembered his strange personality.

'I wonder what that bastard is doing now?'
