The Train Ride

The days sped by and before he knew it Albus was dragging his luggage into a compartment on the Hogwarts Express that he, Lily, and Quinn would be sharing for the train ride to London.

Quinn stood in the center of the compartment, fruitlessly lifting her heavy backpack over her head.

"What are you doing?" asked Albus as he walked in, a bulging bag tucked under his arm.

"I am trying to put this away." Quinn said as she stood on tiptoe. Albus sighed heavily, slinging his backpack up into the rack.

"Allow me." He said, lifting her bag from her hands with ease.

She scowled up at him as he put her bag away.

"Show off." Quinn said plopping down in her seat.

"I'm sorry what," said Albus cupping his ear with his hand. "For some reason that didn't sound like thank you."

"Thank you." Quinn said folding her arms over her chest.

"You're welcome," Albus said "Shorty."

Quinn scowled, narrowing her eyes and scrunching her nose.

"I am not short.'"

"You are 5'2. That's short."

"It is not!" Quinn said, smiling despite her best efforts.

"Ha! I win!" Albus said, laughing. "You know I think I could get used to this feeling."

"Well don't. Soon enough you'll say something stupid and I'll be back on top."

Albus' smirk widened.

The rest of the train ride flew with a lot of conversations between Lily and Albus with Quinn mostly reading, and soon enough they were disembarking from the train, now dressed in muggle attire. They left the train hurriedly and were soon passing through the platform entrance.

"So how will we be traveling to your house?"

"Our mum will be picking us up. Look there she is." Said Albus, pointing to a red-haired woman waving at them. Albus and Lily hurried over and gave their mother hugs.

"I swear you are growing like weed," said Mrs. Potter, smoothing Albus' hair away from his forehead.

"Here mum," said Lily dragging Quinn forward "This is the friend I told you would be coming."

"Oh!" Said Mrs. Potter smiling widely "It's a pleasure to meet you dear."

"It's nice to meet you too." Quinn said with a polite smile.

"Now we best be off. I left your father to watch dinner and I'm afraid the house might've burnt down."

Quinn smirked to herself as they loaded up the car and drove a few minutes away to the village of Godric's Hollow. They pulled up to a large cottage with a wide sprawling garden in front. They entered into a warm kitchen, the smell of fresh baked bread drifting from the oven. Quinn's eyes' widened as she looked around the room. A small gas stove sat against the right wall, which had a doorway that led into a cozy sitting room. The walls were painted a warm white with blue accents and a small window above the sink showed a clear view to the garden out front.

"I'll show my room, we'll be sharing, I hope that's no big deal." Lily said as Mrs. Potter checked the food.

"No, not at all." Quinn said as they stopped in front of a door.

"Here we are." Lily said, opening the door.

The room was a painted a pale purple. A vanity sitting directly right of the door, an assortment of makeup brushes scattered on top. A bed sat against the farther wall with a large, fluffy white comforter on top and a window was on their left with a wonderful view of a small forest. The girls plopped on lily's bed and began talking. They talked of many diverse topics, such as, books, celebrities, movies, school, and sports; that is until they were interrupted by a knock.

"Hey, dinner is ready," Albus said, peeking his head around the doorway.

The climbed down the stairs, the smell leading them to a beautiful table covered in food.

"Eat up," Mrs. Potter said, setting a plate in front of a man Quinn had seen many times in the paper. Harry Potter, scruffy-haired and tall just like Albus. It seemed that the only difference was that Albus' eyes were less bottle green and more muddy green. She supposed he got that from the Weasley side. The food was delicious and the family was very kind, now full the girls trooped up the stairs to collapse into a deep sleep.
