1 A New World

Uuugh," Zombie after Zombie came rushing around the corner. Their rotting corpses falling apart as they rub against the walls. The sheer stench that they emitted was enough to drive someone mad. That wasn't the case for Dakota, the 3 years he has spent in this desolate wasteland has made him immune to the smell. He wasn't sure if it was due to the fact that his sense of smell eroded to the point of nothing or he just got used to the smell.

"Damn, they just keep coming. Just endless waves of them. I'm running low on ammo, I won't be able to hold out much longer."

With only a few bullets left, Dakota went into a building a barricaded the door behind him. He pre-emptively pulled out his walkie-talkie and made one last message to headquarters.

"This is Dakota Hanson, I am currently pinned down in building 48 of sector 212. There are too many outside." While checking his ammo count," I currently have 4 bullets left. I don't think I'm going to make it. Tell my friends I'm sorry, I won't be able to uphold our promise to see the ocean together. I've had a really good life, despite it being in a zombie apocalypse of course. I'm glad I met everyone and for the last time, Commander Hanson...logging off."

With these final words Dakota Stood up and shot his remaining 4 bullets through the glass doors. This killed 4 of the undead outside but at the same time allowed the others to get through.

Within his final moments he thought, "Hanson...HANSON"

All of a sudden loud bang was heard and his head was up. He had fallen asleep during class again. When he looked up everyone was laughing at him except for Professor Sin. The look on his face was that of pure disappointment.

"Class settle down, he's not the only one to have fallen asleep in this class. Although he is the one who does it the most," said Professor Sin while looking annoyed at what Dakota has done. "Now Mr. Hanson, I know you don't my class the most interesting, but seeing as it is the only credit you need to graduate I suggest you start putting in some effort and paying attention."

"Sorry Professor Sin, it won't happen again." That was clearly a lie. Both Dakota and the Professor knew that.

"Mmhm, sure it won't," said Professor Sin obviously distrusting.

A loud bell rung at that moment signaling the end of school. Dakota and the rest of the students packed up their bags and started to leave the room. Dakota was the last one to leave, but before he could turn the corner Professor Sin called for him.

"Listen Dakota, I know our a smart kid. You got the top scores on the semester exam even though you never pay attention. You're naturally gifted but even if you do good on the exams, that doesn't help your grades. You're currently failing my class and my previous attempts to get you to do your work have been proven to no avail."

"I know Professor, I just have too many things to do. I have to sleep, eat, and sleep some more. My schedule is just too full to actually do the work," said Dakota with a almost mocking tone.

"If you don't change the way you think, you wont get anywhere in life Dakota, you're dismissed"

After Dakota was dismissed, he turned around a left the room without a second thought. He knew the Professor was right, but he was just to lazy to actually want to do what he said. As he was leaving the building he lost track of where he was, he was basically on autopilot on the way out as he was thinking about his dream.

"GET DOWN," a random student shouted. A car was passing by while shooting fully automatics at the students. Dakota wasn"t paying attention as he was still lost in thought. All of a sudden he stopped in his tracks as he felt 3 sharp pains in his chest. He had been shot and was quickly bleeding out. Some students screamed in horror as they saw his seemingly lifeless body hit the floor and the blood spread across the tiled floor. As he was bleeding on the floor he thought "why?"

"Quick call a doctor!" A female student shouted.

"Someone help," a male student yelled.

The last thing Dakota saw was Professor Sin, he had a saddened look on his face. It looked as though he lost his own son. He was crying and was saying something that Dakota couldn't hear, but he understand what he meant. In his final moments before entering the light he was happy.

A sudden bright light followed by many unknown faces was the next thing Dakota saw. He thought this was heaven as he had just died, but as it turned out he was in a completely new world, with completely new beings. How did he get here? Where was here? These were questions running through his head.

A strange man said,"Hey kid, welcome to your new life on Gastram." The man was tall and a bit on the lean side. He was clearly a doctor by the way he was dressed.

"How did I get here?"

"You died and were reincarnated on our planet. It's not the fanciest of places, but it has its perks. For example, you can travel for miles with endless beauty in the landscape. There are almost no large nations, so we are mostly a free planet under no ruler. We are very diverse on this planet, ranging from humans, all the way up to dragons. Most of us are humanoid creatures with the exceptions of a few species but that doesn't really matter." The strange man seemed to talk forever and Dakota lost track about halfway through.

"So basically i've been reincarnated on a planet with many different intelligent species." Dakota said this with almost no enthusiasm as he didn't know how to react to all of this information being thrown at him at once.

The Doctor then lead Dakota to a door leading outside and pointed north."There is a city up there about 3 miles. You will travel there and meet with some men in uniform. They will teach you about this world and you will join the adventurers academy. There you will learn your species along with our power level. This will determine how well your treated as the only way our society is divided is by strength so, GOOD LUCK!
