"See, there's your ghost, Alice," said Ken.

"Yeah, I see it." said Alice.

"Can we go now?" asked Ken and Clover.

"Yes! Let's go! NOW!" Dave says.

A flash of light breaks the dark and blinds them for a second. They sporadically look around. The man has disappeared. The window's light has vanished and the window has morphed into the wall. All the windows have disappeared. The hallway begins to slightly shake.

"That's our queue to leave." Dave snapped, "Lets run back to the Orphanage entrance."

"How far are we?" asked Kat.

"Good question, we have been here for a while now," replied Clover, "We ran further when we were chasing Dave."

"So let's just run back to the entrance without stopping." Ken suggested.

"That's a good idea." said John

They begin to run through the hallway. They pay no attention to walls. They fail to notice all the doors are open except for the metal doors. The flashlight begins to flicker faster and faster. Clover stops and shakes the flashlight.

"Uhh… guys…" Alice's voice began to shake.

"Yeah?" they responded.

"The doors… they are all op-" she suddenly stops when all the doors slam simultaneously.

The slam of the doors makes the flashlight flicker and die out. Clover shakes the flashlight violently but there's no use. The flashlight has died. The dark begins to swallow the hallway. Clover looks around and he can't even see his hand in front of his face. Fear fills their bodies.

"Hello?" Clover calls out, "Hello! Kat! Ken! Alice! John! Dave! Anyone!"

No one responds to Clover's calls. His footsteps echoed through the dark hallway. The floor creaked with each step. Clover was alone in this dark empty hallway. Before too long he heard footsteps of another person. The footsteps were heavy and slow. Clover spun in circles but had no idea where they were coming from.

"Stay calm. Stay calm." Clover whispered to himself, "They probably ran to the entrance. Which way was it?"

The footsteps get louder but the sequence stays the same. The hallway begins to shake. Enough to knock Clover to his knees. Clover looks around but he cannot see anything. Suddenly there is a bright light that blinds him. He looks forward and sees the door to the courtyard about 25 feet in front of him. Clover quickly gets up and bolts for the door.

"Where are you going, my child?" a voice calls out to him, "You can't leave. You have to go to sleep."

Clover freezes and his heart drops. He tries to take another step but his body won't respond. Sweat begins to drip down his face. His heart begins to beat faster with each step that this man takes. He reaches his hand out and can almost grab the door handle. The door swings open and he is pulled outside.

"NO! MY CHILD! YOU CAN"T RUN AWAY FROM ME!" the man yelled, "Ha! Ha! Ha!"

Clover looks up and sees Kat. He looks around and sees no one else. His mind began to spin when he thought he was running to the courtyard. His face could not hide his fear when he noticed that they were in a hallway. The walls were different from the last one. The hallway lights were on and they flicker randomly but there is enough light to see at least. There were significantly less doors in this part of the hallway. The number of windows surprised both of them. Even if the power went out they were sure going to have enough light to carry on.

"Thank you" said Clover, "Where is everybody else?"

"I followed the markings I put on the wall so I knew the way back." said Kat, "They must've ran the other way."

"I yelled as soon as the lights went out, how come no one answered?" Clover asked while still catching his breath.

"I didn't hear anything." Kat said

"Should we go back?" Clover asked

"No, we should check out this place." Kat said, "besides I don't think that man will come down here because of the light."

"Hopefully." Clover said.

Clover started to walk in front of her and she followed behind him. They checked every window. All the windows were bolted shut. Every door they passed was also locked. This hallway was warmer than the last one. There weren't any metal doors either.

"Look!," Clover said looking out the window, "Our cars!"

"We must be close!" Kat said

The parking lot light flickered but refused to give up. There were six cars in the parking lot. One belonged to each of the explorers. Clover looked closer at the window and saw that there was no bolt on the window. He looked at Kat and she nodded. Clover tried to lift up the window. After a couple of minutes the window gave in. A breeze of cold air shot into the hallway.

"Yes!" Clover cheered, "Let's get out of here."

"Let's take your car and get help." said Kat

"Yeah, that sounds good." Clover agreed and helped Kat out of the window.

Clover hopped out of the window and started his car with the keys. They ran as fast as they could to his car. Kat looked back at the orphanage and her mind began to hurt when she tried to comprehend the structure of the building. The building was a two story building with windows on each floor and in every room. It would be impossible for them to leave the building through the hallway. Her curiosity got the better of her and she began to run back to the building. Clover grabbed her arm and stopped her from returning.

"What are you doing?" Clover asked

"Sorry. Let's...let's just go." Kat said

They both climbed into the car. Clover looked at Kat and he could tell something was bothering her. Clover pulled out of the parking lot and began to drive away. Clover looked back at the orphanage and saw a man waving his fedora in his hand. Clover noticed that the man was smiling as he waved 'goodbye'. Clover blinked and the man was gone. Clover glanced over at Kat. He could tell from her face that she didn't want to return at all. Silence filled the car and she said nothing when he drove past the police station. Clover continued to drive all the way back to her home.
