Chapter 6

He flew us down to a cliff, and below it was nothing but a vast expanse of sea. I wondered what kind of place did he bring me to, and what kind of training I was going to get here.

"What kind of place is this? Is there anyone else here besides us?", I asked him. He looked at me with a dangerous smirk, but I didn't feel scared, rather a felt a strange, strong attraction towards him.

"Are you scared of being alone with me kid?",he said, the smirk still lingering on his face.

"I'm not a kid", I retorted back at him, feeling somewhat frustrated at being called a kid . I knew I was younger than him, but that didn't give him or anyone to address me as a kid. I was already sixteen for Heaven's sake.

It was my birthday today but so far, I didn't feel any different than I felt yesterday. I had always spent this day with Odin, but today Odin and I had to go separate ways, and I wondered if I would ever get to meet him again.

"What about the others? Will we never get to meet them again?",I asked him, hoping that I would get to see Odin at least. I was already missing my best friend and the thought of never seeing him again, pained me.

"That depends on how strong you get and whether you can survive your training",he replied as if he hadn't given me the shock of my life.

Did it mean that I could loose my life during my training? It was one thing to learn about angels and nephilims and that sort of thing, but how dangerous was the training going to be that I could end up losing my life?

He saw my furrowed expression and gave a lopsided smile, as he said,"Stick by my side and do as you're told, don't go around looking for trouble, and never disclose your abilities in front of humans. If you abide by them, then you'll live"

'Why would I go looking for trouble now?',I thought. I was clearly treading on uncharted waters and only a fool would go around doing things as they wished.

I was going to stick by his side no matter what, his good looks was only an added bonus. I smiled to myself thinking about it, and he flicked his finger on my forehead and said,"Stop thinking silly thoughts"

"You can read my mind without coming in contact with me?",I asked because my mind had been read only twice, and both times, there was body contact, however, right now, there was no body contact, but apparently, this man,my mentor, seemed like he could read it without even laying a finger on me.

He didn't answer my question but said,"If you train well enough, I believe you should be able to as well"

I was ecstatic to learn about it and bombed him with my questions,"Can I,really? Can everyone like us read minds even without touching the other person? Was Mr. Turner able to read our minds as well?".

He sighed after seeing my excitement, and shook his head. Like the grumpy old fellow he was, I thought.

But his mood did not affect mine as I was happy enough to know that I would be able to read other people's minds someday, which would make my job easier in finding my parents someday.

"What else will I be able to do?",I asked him again. He was now sitting down on the edge of the cliff and staring into the deep blue sea.

He turned to look at me and said,"Nothing at all. If you continue to be greedy for powers, even what you have will be taken away"

"I wasn't being greedy",I protested and continued saying,"I was only trying to find out what else was possible for people like us to do".

He returned his gaze to the water and said,"Not everyone can read minds without coming in contact with the other person. Agatha and the others can only read one's minds by touching, like she did with you"

I was dumbfounded. I thought he and Agatha were all same or at least had similar talents, but apparently it wasn't. And what did he mean by, I could read minds without touching the other person? Was I similar to him?

I looked at him, ready to ask him questions, but he had closed his eyes and seemed to be in some sort of medidation.

I didn't want to disturb him, so I sat down beside him, and copied his actions.

I had never medidated in my life and it was proving to be difficult now as my mind kept on diverting to all sorts of thoughts and imaginations, so I gave up and continued to stare into the wide expanse of the sea.

As I was watching the sea, I wanted to go down to the bottom of the cliff and dip my feet in the water.

I looked at him again, and then checked my surrounding, it seemed like there was no one out here except us, so I decided to climb down the cliff, which I noticed, wasn't so steep.

I tried to climb down the cliff, but it was turning out to be much more difficult than I assumed. After struggling much and barely managing to even climb a few steps down, I gave up and got back up on the cliff, and joined my mentor, who seemed to be still medidating.

I was hungry by now and wondered if my training had already started and it was to train me to stop relying on food. I was furious by now and wanted him to read my mind and know that I was hungry and angry.

"Mr. Raguel, how long are you going to medidate? Just in case you've forgotten, I'm still here and I'm hungry",I said, clearly irritated at how my birthday was going. The day was almost getting over and forget about a cake, I had been left without food or water for half of the day now.

On top of that, I didn't even have Odin by my side, who would've come up with all those imaginary stories and made our day more special.

"I thought you weren't a kid anymore, but it turns out that you still behave very much like a kid",he said, as he opened his eyes and looked at me.

"That's because I'm hungry and thirsty and you never left me clear instructions on what to do",I retorted back at him. I know I was acting childish, but I didn't care.

"Go catch some fish for us",he said and before I even realized what was happening, he picked me up as though picking up a feather, and threw me into the sea.
