Continuation of Chapter 1

"Noooooooooo... Mom!" Egon's anguished cry pierced the air as he witnessed his mother's body being covered by horrifying beasts. Tears streamed down his face as he helplessly watched, only able to catch glimpses of her hands, soaked in blood, a sight that tore at his heart and made him cry bitter tears.

Desperate to escape the nightmare, Egon's trembling hands grasped the ladder leading to the basement, but to his dismay, it descended with alarming speed. The door slammed shut behind him, sealing him in the suffocating darkness.

"Nooo! No! No!" he screamed in terror and frustration, his heart pounding with fear. He desperately tried to climb upward, but the ladder seemed endless, an unwavering obstacle leading him nowhere.

Refusing to succumb to the darkness that threatened to engulf him, Egon wiped away his tears, his voice trembling but determined.

"My mom can't die. No, she can't. I will find a way out of here and save her." Just as he spoke those words, a pulsating light began to emerge nearby.

[Portal creation in progress...1%...10%...40%...44%...60%...100%]

As the portal completed its creation, a surge of energy resonated through the air, causing it to materialize beneath Egon. He couldn't help but gaze downward, entranced by the mysterious opening that had appeared before him. It felt like peering into the depths of an infinite abyss, its vastness both awe-inspiring and intimidating.

Egon attempted to move away from the portal, but an unseen force held him in place. "No, I can't leave! I can't leave without my mom!" he pleaded desperately. His cries echoed within the dark room.

[Step into the portal, Egon. Your safety and the fulfillment of your purpose lie within.]

"I won't go! I won't leave my mom behind!" Egon's voice cracked with defiance, desperation echoing through his words.

[ Egon! Understand, that the probability of your mother returning alive is only 5%. My duty is to ensure your safety until you reach your uncle's location.]

"I can't abandon her! Please, there must be another way!" Egon's voice wavered.

[It is not your choice to make. I have been programmed to ensure your successful extraction. I'm sorry, but if you refuse to cooperate, I will have to resort to drastic measures to take you along forcefully.]

In that moment, a surge of power radiated from the portal ring, overwhelming Egon and throwing him off balance. He pleaded desperately, "No!!!!!! I don't want to go anywhere. Please, stop it!"

Yet, his pleas fell upon deaf ears as he was forcibly drawn into the portal, powerless against its uncontrollable force.

Sudden and bewildering, a swirling portal materialized on the roadside, carrying Egon to an unknown destination. As he emerged from the portal, his body collided with the ground, pain shooting through his limbs like electric currents. Gasping, he fought against the ache, summoning his strength to rise to his feet.

Taking a moment to regain his bearings, Egon looked around his surroundings, finding that the landscape a little bit familiar.

The air even felt familiar, and he recognized the subtle contours of the environment, as it reminded him of past memories.

"Isn't this Uncle's house?" he doubted as his head was spinning like he was seeing stars.

Egon approached the house with a bitting heart, his footsteps echoing as he walked unsteadily towards his uncle's house.

With a lift of his hand, he knocked on the door, the sound resonating through the stillness of the surroundings.

Moments later, Uncle Rex emerged from the doorway, a warm smile gracing his face.

"You're here, Egon. I've been waiting for you," he had been expecting him.

Tears welled up in Egon's eyes as he managed to utter.

"Uncle... I... I saw... I saw it all. It was... horrifying."

His uncle's embrace tightened around him. Before this day came, Egon's mother had already told Rex in advance that this day would come someday. She told him to take of her son.

"I know, my dear boy. Your mother entrusted me with taking care of you, and I will honor that. You don't have to face this alone. We will persevere together."

Uncle Rex grasped Egon's hand, as he guided him inside the house. Aware of the magnitude of Egon's pain, allowed him the space and time to express his grief, to mourn the irreplaceable loss of a beloved mother.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks drifted into months, as Egon was still heart broken.

His uncle remained a steadfast pillar of support. Uncle Rex gently placed a hand on Egon's shoulder,

"My boy, the past will forever shape you, but it need not define you," he said, in a calm manner.

"To let go does not mean forgetting, but rather embracing the pain, learning new lessons, and forging a path forward."

-------

One evening, as twilight painted the sky in hues of amber and gold, Egon sat in his room, his mind still clinging to the shadows of his past.

In a moment, his uncle entered, he gazed at Egon.

"Egon, I have something important to discuss with you," Uncle Rex began, his voice resolute yet brimming with tenderness.

"I've enrolled you in a new school. It's a fresh start, an opportunity for you to explore your passions, form new friendships, and nurture the seeds of potential that reside within you."

Ego reactions at first wasn't that good he didn't want to go anywhere.

His Uncle Sensed that he was unease.

Uncle Rex leaned in closer, as he said.

"I understand your fears, Egon. Yet, in education, lies the transformative power to unlock your strengths and grant you the tools to forge your own destiny," he reassured, his eyes shining with unwavering faith in Egon.
