Scene 10

(This scene opens with the kids waking up. They go brush their teeth's, have their bath and as they are ready to put on their uniform, they can't find it. They check everywhere in their room and they still can't find it. They all came out of their rooms and headed for the living room. As they got down, they saw Titi entering the living room with a broom and dustpan in her hand and they rush to her).

Jennifer: Titi please have you seen our uniforms?

Titi: No. You know I wasn't the one who washed them on Saturday. (She leaves).

Isaac: Yes, that's true we did. So where could we have put it?

Whitney: I'm sure that we put them in our rooms, I'm sure of it.

Isaac: Okay so where...

All three of them: Anna!

(They run to Anna's room and start banging the door but there is no response. They open the door and see that no one is in. They begin to shout her name which starts making everybody come out one by one wondering what is going on. Fredrick comes out already dressed with his phone on his ear).

Fredrick: ...Um let me call you back. (Ends the call). What's going on here?

Whitney: Anna. We are looking for Anna.

Fredrick: I can see that but for what for?

Jennifer: Our uniforms.

Isaac: Our uniforms dad. Our uniforms!

Fredrick: Anna doesn't keep your uniforms... Guys stop being hysterical, go get dressed so Chuks can drop you guys off, it's already getting late.

(They continue shouting Anna's name and then she comes in from the main door dressed in a workout attire with an ear-piece in her ear. As she enters she stops then removes her ear-piece as the kids approach her).

Jennifer: Anna, where are our uniforms?

Isaac: Where are our uniforms please?

Anna: Oh I washed them.

(The three of them open their mouths and look at her).

All three of them: You did what?

Anna: I washed them.

Jennifer: Why would you do that!

Anna: You told me that I didn't wash your uniforms so I went to wash them.

(They sigh. Jennifer put her hand on her head, Isaac puts his on his waist and Whitney sits on the floor. The rest staff, Fredrick, Dayo and Tomike try to hold their laugh but are smiling).

Anna: I thought that you guys had something else to wear that's why you told me to wash them.

Isaac: Why would you think that?

(They asked as they turned around to look at their father for support and then he stopped smiling and looked at Anna).

Fredrick: Um guys, you did tell her to wash them just she mistook the later for now. Okay I'll call your principal and explain what the situation is besides you can't go to school in mufti so... um Titi please get my briefcase from my room and Chuks get the car ready, I'll leaves in a minute or two.

(Titi and Chuks go and do as told).

Anna: Yeah, morning everyone. (Smiles).

Tomike: Seems that everything has been resolved, next time don't shout out of our sleeps. (She shouts from where she is standing upstairs. Dayo yawns and they both turn around and head back to their rooms).

Fredrick: (Shakes his head slightly. Titi returns with his brief case and hands it to him). And look on the bright side, you guys can stay home...

All three of them: No!

Fredrick: Where do you want to go then?

Whitney: Anywhere but here. (Jennifer and Isaac nod their heads in accordance).

Fredrick: Well I won't be able to take you guys anywhere. I'm just heading to the office and the office only.

Jennifer: Then we'll follow you.

Fredrick: Okay then, shall we?

(They go ahead of him and he follows them behind and they leave the living room. Once they do the other staff start laughing).

Titi: Come babe you actually washed the clothes?

(Anna looks at them and smiles. She keeps smiling as she leaves them and they continue laughing and shaking their heads).

Scene 10b

(This scene opens with Susan walking into a room where the kids are. They all look at her direction as the door opens).

Susan: Mr Williams wants to know if you guys need anything and if you are comfortable?

Isaac: Yes we are comfortable and no we don't need anything. Jenny, Whit? (They shake their head in a no). Nothing then.

Susan: Alright, I'll let him know.

(Susan leaves).

Isaac: We have a situation that needs attending to, Anna.

Whitney: Yes we do, so what are we going to do.

Jennifer: Do as she says, do what she wants us to do.

(They look at her strangely).

Isaac: Jennifer are you okay?

Whitney: I could tell dad to get you a doctor real quick.

Jennifer: I'm fine, I'm just the only one amongst we three that is thinking straight.

Isaac: Are you sure about that? Because I don't think you are hearing yourself. You Jennifer of all people are suggesting that we surrender. That we do as she wants us to?

Whitney: She did put our uniforms in water this morning, have you forgotten so quickly?

Jennifer: I'm here and not in school, I've not forgotten why. I'm just saying that we should look at things. She is smart, all her steps well calculated to the last detail. She anticipates every of our reaction and actions. She has everyone on her side, even dad. And asides aunty Tomike and Dayo, their stance is not relevant.

(They nod).

She knew we were going to tell dad and she told him first probably that we would say such about her and we did exactly what she wanted. Point is we can't go against her and win. There is nothing we can do. It's obvious she has come to stay and she has made it abundantly clear that she is not scared of us.

Whitney: And that she is crazy. Just look at how changed she was this morning. No more pigin English or razz attitude. She transformed overnight.

Isaac: She probably met her fairy good mother in her sleep. We've got a Cinderella in our home, watch out guys, change occurs at 12. (He says dryly, they laugh). But I think this by far is the smartest Jennifer has, Jenny when did you get so smart. (Jennifer hits him on the head). Ow.

Whitney: So?

Isaac: So we do as she wants.

(They look at each other then they are shown in front of Anna's room, deciding on who should knock on the door).

Isaac: I don't really know what's there to talk about that we are arguing, there is nothing left to decide, ladies first. (He looks at Jennifer and Whitney).

Whitney: Don't look at me, I'm not the first lady. (Then they both look at Jennifer. She looks back at them and they still look at her).

Jennifer: Fine.

Whitney: You can do it sis.

Isaac: You go girl.

(Jennifer takes deep breaths then knocks on the door. Anna answers and tells them to come in. They open the door slowly and walk in quietly. Anna raises her head and sees them).

Anna: (In a Yoruba ascent). Ahan, children of God, pikins of Williams, how life?

All of them: Good.

Anna: So wetin bring una come?

(They start stuttering and looking between each other).

Jennifer: Well, we have been thinking, giving recent developments and happenings in the house, that all four of us can reach an agreement.

Anna: Is that so?

Jennifer: Yes. So we are agreeing to do whatever it is that you want us to do so everyone can live in peace.

Anna: Hmm, just like that. Una agree just like that?

Isaac: We realized that you have no intention of leaving anytime soon or stopping to torment us so, we want to live in peace in our father's house.

Anna: (Smiles). E make sense, e make sense... Oya where paper and pen?

Whitney: Paper and pen for what?

Anna: For wetin una go do na.

Jennifer: We didn't bring any.

Anna: Oya bring out ya phone.

Jennifer: (Looks at Isaac and sees he is looking at her and Whitney and Anna also). Why are you guys staring at me?

Isaac: Because you don't move one step without your phone.

(Jennifer nods her head then brings out her phone from her pocket. Opens it and is ready to type).

Anna: Oya rule number one, wait first you go dey write everything as I dey talk am. So rule number one, una go dey wake up every week day... una na U,N,A, una.

(They all look at her and she smiles back at them).

Isaac: (Whispers). Go Jenny go Jenny go.

Anna: Oya back to business. Una go dey wake up every Monday go reach Friday by 6:15 only on Saturday go reach Sunday wey una go wake by anytime you want. As una wake 6:15, una go do wetin una won do and by 7:15 una go waka go school. Number two. As you dey come back school, no leave you shoe anyhow for domot, no throw your socks anyhow. You go carry yourselves reach room, remove everything neatly then wash your socks yourselves, una understand?

All three of them: Yes.

Anna: Good. Number three. Una disrespect go stop. Una go dey greet and respect everybody in this house. No dey insult the staff and everybody for this house, them old pass you, they no be your mate.

All three of them: Okay.

Whitney: Including Aunty Tomike and Dayo?

Anna: Wetin una tell them?

Jennifer: That they should stop trying to live off our father.

Isaac: It's not a healthy livelihood to be using someone.

Anna: Hmm... honesty is the best policy. Next. Una go stop to dey stress una papa. Him be billionaire but he no fit enjoy small. So that one mean say, no dey skip school, dey do well for class, no bad friends, do dey wetin e dey ask una, most of all dey respect am.

All three of them: Alright.

Anna: Ehn, another one. 10 o'clock like this, una dey sleep. As 10 knack, party scatter, everybody go brush, enter their room, dey sleep. Also nobody go dey knock on this door by 11 for night cause na that time I dey close. And no think to knock till 7 for morning cause na after that time I dey open shop.

All three of them: Yes ma.

Anna: Ma? Abeg I never old. Dey call me Anna, nothing spoil. Lastly, Whitney, no glitter for ground and no dey match person leg again. (Whitney nods her head). Jennifer when person dey talk no dey sunb, no dey rude, no dey press phone. (Jenifer nod her head). And Isaac, no dey play loud music when person dey talk to you, come make the person to dey shout. (Isaac nods his head). So una understand everything I just talk so, cause na only like this wey we go fit live in peace oh?

All three of them: Yes we do.

Anna: Confirm. (Smiles broadly. They look at her as she is still smiling. She continues speaking while smiling). The smile mean say make una waka, dey go.

(They smile and chuckle and leave the room. As they turn around Anna stops smiling. When they close the door, she picks paper and checks a box that reads "kids in line". Then she drops it back, lays back on her bed with her hands behind her head. She closes her eyes and when she relaxes, she smirks).

Scene closes.
