THE DRUNK MAN

~TIMS TAVERN, CENTRAL ATKINS~

It was night time and noises could be heard from a particular building. It was Tim's tavern, the building looked quite similar to that of Moose except that it was a bit larger. As usual, there was a great multitude of people present. Gamblers, drunk, and womanizers.

Two ladies disguised as men were seen at a particular table drinking.

"Verola!" A dark-haired lady called with a low tone. Something particular about her was her dark wonderful eyes and moderate curves.

"Yes!" Her blonde partner replied maintaining the same tone. She was putting on oversize trousers possibly to hide her extreme curve and keep her male disguise.

She moved closer to her and spoke in a softer tone.

"It's getting late. I think we should get going."

"Not yet pls, just a little longer." She wasn't satisfied with the day and wanted to stay a while longer.

They still seemed to be enjoying the day when a heavily drunk man beside their table began to speak strangely. He was seated at a table with two other men who also appeared to be intoxicated.

"That bastard didn't die!" The voice spoke with contempt. It was evident in his voice and his eyes raged like fire.

"I tried my best but he just wouldn't. He thinks he can get away with it." The voice added.

"Who are you talking about my man?" Another voice asked, he had a cup of alcohol in his hand and smashed it on the table drawing the attention of people.

"My lady, I think we should leave now before things get riled up." Miller spoke still with her soft tone.

"Not yet, just a little longer."

"I'm getting interested in this." She spoke with quite a bit of excitement.

She winked an eye at Miller before addressing the drunk Akima.

"So what did you do to make him die. I mean, maybe you should try harder." She spoke with her voice sounding a bit masculine.

"Ohh.. you see I poisoned him…..But.. "

"the son of a bitch won't just go to hell!" He yelled at the top of his voice drawing more attention. This time he seemed to have caught the attention of the bar owner who immediately called for security.

Two built men approached Akima and asked him to leave.

"Why do I have to go, I mean we were all just having fun." He looked at the men briefly before returning his gaze to his companions.

"Weren't we?" He spoke, just like a drunk.

The men looked at one another realizing that he wasn't ready to cooperate, lifted him, and began dragging him out of the building.

"Leave me! Let go of me! I am a citizen! U have no right….." The shouts from his voice began to reduce and very soon it was heard no more.

"Let's follow him!" Verola said and immediately got up from her seat heading toward Akima.

"No!" Miller held back but was forced to follow suit when Verola had exited the building.

Akima was walking along a lonely road when he heard approaching footsteps. He knew he had to be alert in situations like this. So, he began to stylishly watch his back with his right eye not wanting them to take note of his detection.

He was about to make a run when he felt a tap on his back.

"Sigh, it's just you two."

"What do you want?" He was quite relieved when he saw that they were the supposed men who he talked to in the tavern. He looked at their stature and concluded that he was safe as he could easily finish them judging from their look. He was still drunk though but had regained some senses after the slap he received from one of the security guards.

"Like I said, what are you looking for?" He asked again this time with a more serious tone.

"Well, we didn't like the way you were treated. So, we came to check on you." Verola spoke this time with a more masculine accent.

Akima looked at them weirdly. He would be a fool to think people just walk out of a tavern to see if others are alright. One thing was for sure, they were there for something and he wasn't ready to give it to them.

"Okay. I'm alright. Thanks for the concern." He turned and began to leave but Verola followed him.

"The person that you are trying to get rid of. His he a problem to you?" Verola asked and Akima instantly looked at her.

"That shouldn't be your business." He was now more awakened. These people had heard his secret!

"Well, we will love to help you!" Miller spoke this time.

Verola raised her brows gesturing at her friend that they were on the right track.

"Well, It was all just a joke. I mean, I was drunk that's why. It's just basic nonsense." He added trying to dispel their assumption.

"We know it's true. So no need to lie. Just tell us the name of the person and we will help you achieve your aim."

Akima was again put in shock. Do these people think he is foolish! No one helps someone to kill just like that. The worst thing he had on his plate was that they knew about his secret and could expose him anytime.

He needed a plan and he knew just the perfect one.

He turned to cut Verola's neck with a pocket knife but she swung her body instantly avoiding the blade. Due to her swiftness, her cover got blown and her long hair was now left uncovered.

Akima's eyes were now awakened to the beautiful lady at his front. It would be a waste to kill such without a taste first.

"Don't worry, I won't bite."

Just take a looks at your sexy eyes and your lips. Capture me my lady and let me take you places…"

He wasn't don't when he received a blow to the head making him fall instantly. He looked around and saw Miller with her fist tightened ready for action.

He tightened his fist but she stood still not wanting to attack him.

This got Akima more irritated.

"Do you think I'm a weakling?" He asked before making his advance.

But it was all in vain. Before he could even get close to her, Verola had hit him in the head with her sword's pommel causing him to fall flat on the ground.

"Quick Verola, let's get going! Before some people arrive!"

The duo began running and after some time they came across the cottage where they had kept their horses.

They got on it and rode back home leaving Akima in the street.
