IT WAS I!

"It was I!" Edmund spoke again this time a little louder. He looked at the eyes that were gazing at him, all filled with confusion.

How could a 17 years old teenage boy cure someone of a snake bite and remove all the traces of poison? He looked at the grand patron who instantly replied with a weird look. He moved his gaze to the finely dressed physician at his front who looked at him before bursting into laughter.

"Haha...Haha... This kid is something else."

Culbert saw the disappointing look on his son's face and cut in on the doctor.

"But would he be alright?"

"Oh him... All he needs is some little screwing on the head and he will be alright!" He replied while referring to Edmund.

"I don't mean him, I mean Drax."

"Oh....The kid is alright. Thankfully! The herb used was powerful. He should wake up anytime soon." he wasn't even done talking when Drax moved his right leg.

Culbert yelled on seeing Drax.

"He is awake!" His voice drew the attention of everyone who moved their attention to Drax and in a matter of seconds, they had all gathered around him.

"He needs air! Pls, some of you should step back!" The physician encouraged, only the grand matron and Zima came close to him possibly because they were the eldest.

Drax opened his eyes and searched for his saviour. He looked around till he finally caught sight of Edmund.

He nodded his head at his friend, happy that his method had worked as he could comfortably feel his legs.

Some minutes later, Zeka walked into the room with happiness. It was quite obvious by the wide smile on her face full of joyful tears.

Drax wasn't her only child but he was her favorite. She ran to meet him and hugged him on the bed.

"My baby! How are you feeling?… Are you alright?" She released him and shifted her gaze to his leg. What she observed was shocking!

His leg looked normal. She turned her gaze at the physician.

"Thank you very much, sir. You don't know what this means to a mother. Believe me, thank you.." She thanked him before returning her gaze to her son.

"Do you want something to eat?" She asked Drax but he nodded in refusal.

"Okay, since all is well…errr...I think I should take my leave." The physician got up and left. He was followed by Rima who paid for his services.

Some time had passed and the number of people in the room had reduced by more than a half. The few ones left are the Grand patron, Culbert, Rima, Zeka, and Yetty.

Each had a particular question on their mind but decided not to speak for one reason or another.

After a while, Culbert spoke up.

"Son!"

"Yes, Dad!" Edmund replied.

"How were you able to treat your cousin?" He asked and instantly the others had their gaze focused on Edmund. Quite as if, they had that also in mind.

"Sir!" Edmund seemed to be lost. He didn't know what to say.

"Don't take this wrong son, we all just want to know how you did it, that's all." Culbert spoke again.

Edmund looked round. From his mum who was nearest to him, to his grandfather who appeared farthest. He let out a sigh before he began to speak.

"Well, Drax was in pain, my thoughts began to rumble. I began thinking so fast, faster than I ever did. I was so scared Dad... I was. Finally, I got this particular image of a flower. I kept on receiving this sense, so I decided to follow it." Edmund narrated all that happened and as he went on, they felt more astonished.

Some minutes later, he finished his narration and Yetty instantly hugged her horrified son.

"It's alright, it's okay now." She said while patting his back.

"Thanks, Edmund, you saved my son." Zeka said.

"Thanks Ed!" Drax finally found his voice and decided to thank his friend.

Everywhere had turned and Edmund was back in his quarters.

"Sighs." He sat on his bed reminiscing over what happened that morning. Ayan would have come over but I guess he knew that his friend needed that moment. His moment to be alone.

One thing was sure though, that whatever happened today would change Edmund's life.

He lay on his bed and was so quick to fall asleep.

It was what he needed!
