CHAPTER 55: WHEN LOVE TAKES OVER 2

Arianna asked this question with trepidation. She had missed the other person and desperately wanted to see him, but she knew that if she pushed too hard, she would lose everything, which scared the hell out of her more than anything else.

Even if things went wrong, she was confident that she would not act rashly like the previous Arianna and take her own life. It will hurt, but she will go on with her life; after all, she was a noble lady, a reincarnated soul with a purpose.

Her daring to love Maxim was something she couldn't stop and simply followed her heart; after all, she was promised to live her life when she agreed to take over Arianna's life.

If she can't marry a prince in this life, she plans to make Maxim one if she stays with him in the future. There's an old adage that "behind every successful man is a woman."

Arianna decided to be the type of woman who will push Maxim to his limits and make him greater, if he isn't already, but if he is, as she suspects, she will uplift him and use all the resources at her disposal to make that happen.

Maxim looked at the worried girl on the other end of the phone call; he could tell her mind had wandered, and he began to worry.

To be honest, he was scared as well; Arianna was head over heels in love with him today, but what would happen tomorrow?

Will she abandon him in the same way that the others did? Will she still treat him the same way when she discovers the whole truth about him? Will she still be looking at him with those big eyes that are filled with nothing but love for him when everything blows over?

"I will keep that promise," Maxim found himself squeezing the words from his mouth.

He knew he didn't have time to be going around, especially when things on his side were critical, but he knew he had to compromise for the sake of seeing that smile on that face.

Arianna's mood immediately changed when she heard Maxim's response, and all the crazy thoughts in her head vanished.

"That's fantastic. I'll be waiting for you when you're free. Even if I want to see you right now, I won't be able to. Can you believe we have these exams coming up and...?"

Maxim was then subjected to a chattering Arianna for the next two hours, who kept telling him about schoolwork and other interesting things that had been going on around her.

Of course, Maxim noticed that no matter how chatty Arianna was, she kept quiet about her small business, and he didn't ask her. It was also a good thing that the little girl wanted to keep secrets.

Everything was fine with him as long as she didn't cheat on him and make him wear a green hat. He even considered secretly assisting her, but the reports he had received were all very positive, so he decided to just keep an eye out and see how things turned out.

Maxim smiled as he watched Arianna continue to talk; on his side, Maxim was busy reviewing and signing documents because Arianna's chattering didn't interfere with his work.

He had previously been taught how to multitask, so how could a conversation with a girlfriend cause everything to come to a halt?

Arianna also made a point of not chatting too much because she could see Maxim was preoccupied with all the flipping sounds she was hearing thanks to her hyper hearing senses.

She simply told herself that this afternoon was hers, and Maxim would have to accept it. If she just lets him go because he's a little busy, she'll be the one left hanging because she'll have no idea when she'll be able to freely chat with him like this again.

Maxim was responding at least during the time the two were talking, even if he didn't say much, which was fine with her.

After an hour, Arianna finally hung up on the older man. The reason she hung up on the phone was for one reason only. Who knew her family adored her in such a way?

Her beloved sister Jorgie sent her some money without her asking for it; how can she continue to be in the mood to sweet talk her man with all that money blinking in her account?

Maxim simply thought the girl had said enough; if he knew he had been dumped for money, he would roll in his office, unsure whether to laugh or cry.

Arianna, who had just received a half-million-dollar gift from Jorgie, couldn't wait to hear what this older one was thinking, but who knew Jorgie was so sweet that she told her it was a congratulations gift for successfully opening Legacy?

Arianna was so happy when she heard this that she showered the older one with so many sweet compliments that if Jorgie hadn't found Arianna a little too much and hung up after a few words, Arianna would still be showering Jorgie with words.

Arianna was in a good mood now that she had more money in her account, and she was already planning her next shopping trip. She hasn't gone shopping in a long time, and doing so will be excellent therapy.

Maxim, on the other hand, gritted his teeth and scribbled a big X on the last file he read. The fact that these people had the audacity to submit garbage like this to him made him want to crack their heads open and see what those huge heads were hiding.

When he was finished, he pressed a button on the desk, and a man in his thirties walked in with a respectful expression on his face.

"Master, is there anything I can do for you?"

"I will be taking a trip to Lexus duchy any time," Maxim said, smiling at the man who had been by his side for over a decade, "sort through everything that should be sorted. I'll give you two weeks because I don't want anything to happen."

The man was taken aback when he heard this order because it was not a simple order and the weight it carried was enormous. He knew he shouldn't ask too many questions, so he didn't.

"I'll finish it before then. Is there anything I should do or keep in mind?"

Maxim paused for a moment before responding, "Get me a list of what teenage girls like nowadays."

The man almost choked on his saliva, but remembering his Master's new girl, he decided to finish his job before causing the other to explode.

"I will get the list right away," the other man said as he accepted his task and exited the room.

Maxim chuckled for a moment before pulling a cigarette from a sealed packet and lighting it. After such a long day, he needed to unwind with a cigarette.
