10 CHAPTER 10: FACE-SLAPPING 1

Amy couldn't suppress her rage any longer at the thought of being treated so horribly after visiting that snooty princess. She just wanted to contact her mother and complain, but she knew that her mother will end up siding with her cousin, which will anger her in the end.

She usually goes directly to Arianna's bedroom whenever she visited the house, but she was told to wait in the guest lounge as if she were on the same level as the vixens that played with Arianna. To make matters worse, Arianna was coming to see her on her own time. Who gave her the guts to treat her like that when she couldn't even get a man that she had been carrying a torch for years?

Arianna was pathetic and a fool when it comes to love, but it was those traits that set her apart from the rest of the bunch. Everyone could see that Amy was better than her, so what did it matter if Arianna was the duke's daughter when her character was so flawed and nauseating?

Who would ask for her hand in marriage when the rest of the world knows she attempted to commit suicide to force a gentleman who didn't love her to pay attention to her?

Arianna was doomed, which made Amy ecstatic because it meant Amy would have a better chance of climbing the social ladder than Arianna from now on. Amy had always disliked Arianna since they were children since Arianna could have anything she wanted with a single pout on her face, whilst Amy could be severely reprimanded.

Her mother saw her as a tool that could be exploited to earn future benefits, thus she was raised under strict rules and was rarely spoiled. Arianna was spoiled rotten but Amy's family was more patriarchal, so her brothers had it better than her. Despite the fact that Arianna did not put forth any effort in her studies and was a poor student, she was able to gain admittance to the city's best university.

She didn't have to do anything, and yet everyone fawned over her, and she won't be reprimanded even if she does anything wrong. Arianna could spend the money that Amy receives as a monthly allowance in just hours and instead of being punished, she will be given more to use and play with.

Why should Amy like Arianna, who takes everything for granted and sullies the family's reputation? Why should Amy, who's been doing everything she can to do the proper thing, be regarded as if she doesn't exist?

Amy had hoped to see Arianna buried six feet below the surface, but she was disappointed when Arianna resisted to leave even after taking those pills. Since that method had failed, Amy had brought even new strategies for Arianna this time in order to enrage her and guarantee that whatever she did this time would be successful.

She heard footsteps as she sat there, and she immediately displayed her signature innocent smile that had won her so many admirers over the years.

As Arianna was wheeled into the lounge, she stared with a smile on her face and fire in her eyes. Amy had the urge to slash Arianna's face the minute she saw it. Amy was filled with rage and hatred for Arianna since this little vixen grew prettier while being bedridden for a long time without exerting any effort.

Lucas would most likely be smitten with Arianna if he saw her right now. Men were fickle, and they could easily forget about a woman's misdeeds if she was beautiful like Arianna, so Amy didn't want any men to see her.

"Greetings, cousin; I apologize for not coming sooner," Arianna apologized as soon as she entered the lounge, "I was held up with something."

The servants were taken aback by this, as their young lady rarely admitted her misgivings.

Amy looked at Arianna with a surprised expression, expecting that Arianna would put on airs as she always did. Arianna's face was still pale and a little lean from being in the hospital, but it didn't strip away her beauty.

"It's ok, cousin; I'm just pleased you're okay. You've got us all worried," Amy swiftly recovered from her shock and rose to greet Arianna.

Amy took over from the maid as Arianna gestured for her to leave. . Amy wheeled Arianna over to a three-person couch, where she watched in dread as Arianna slowly stood up and sat down.

Arianna was being treated like a handicap, so Amy didn't think she could walk. She figured she'd take advantage of her misfortune, but she didn't realize the little vixen wasn't ill at all.

"Are you able to walk?" As she sat on the couch, Amy questioned, her face stiff.

"Just a little bit, if I walk too much, I'll strain my muscles because I'm still weak, but I'll be running soon," Arianna said, her bright smile capturing the attention of the maids in the vicinity.

"It's great that you're doing well. You must not take your life for granted in this way. I understand that Lucas means a lot to you and that his betrayal has had a big impact on you, but taking your own life is not the way to go," Amy said, her face serious enough that everyone listening assumed she meant good for Arianna, but only Arianna could see how sinister her words were.

If she had been the former one, she would have already flipped out since Arianna felt so betrayed by Lucas that she forgot they were never a thing in the first place.

"I'll take your advice cousin; from now on, I'm not going to allow these minor issues bother me. That's how it is since me and him aren't meant to be together. I'm not going to lower myself to his level and do something foolish for him. Let him to spend the rest of his life with that commoner if he finds her worthy. I am the daughter of the duke, and no matter how lowly our duchy is, I shall marry a prince superior than Lucas. So, cousin, don't worry, I won't act impulsively again and try to take my own life. I still have a lot to do," Arianna replied slowly, as if she was trying to make Amy taunt with her words.

Arianna was overwhelmed with joy as she witnessed Amy's fluctuating emotions. Amy would kill herself with fury if she could only see how terrible she looked at the time.

Arianna smiled as she took a glass of juice from the maids who had brought it to her while she was delivering her speech. She even pretended she didn't notice Amy's gloomy expression on her face.

Since Amy was so unruly to give her those books with so many people committing suicide, Arianna was going to torment Amy with words till she coughed up some blood as payback time.
