One night, was all it took.

Leanne's pov

I forced myself to sleep but the tears wouldn't stop. It just couldn't. How could it? Her only family, her only support, her only comfort, she left her to fend herself. She couldn't see her future anymore. Her dreams and hopes all crashed down in just one night. One night was all it took to leave her life with despair and nothing.

Nothing at all.

FLASHBACK

She was on her way back home skipping excitedly to tell her mom the happy news. She had received her first salary and was on top of the world to finally treat her mom to a meal. She hummed to her favourite song as she moved closer and closer to her home. She halted in her steps once on seeing a small crowd and an ambulance in front of the building towering her apartment she once called home. She made her way through the crowd confused about what was going on. As she got to the front, her eyes widened not believing what she was witnessing right now. Her mother's pale face was flat on the ground as her head bled. The sight brought horror to her eyes as she dropped down on her knees crying out loud as her world collapsed behind her. She couldn't process what happened in the next few hours. She saw investigators doing their job and her mom's body through blurry eyes for one last time as the ambulance drove off. She watched it disappear further and further away from her. Time seemed to have slowed down and her brain was no longer functioning properly. The only thing that replayed was her mom's pale body covered in her blood over and over again.

There she layed on her bed slowly swallowing the bitter truth. She could see the sun rising slowly filling her bedroom with light. She slowly got up from her bed and went to make herself a cup of coffee to support her aching body. She had switched on her TV, to find out that, the news was spreading about her mom. She switched the TV off and scoffed. 'As if she suicided.'She said to herself. She went to her bedroom. She drank the coffee slowly and eventually ended up spilling it on herself. Whenever she used to spill coffee on herself, she remembered that her mom used to help her clean herself up and call her clumsy, but now she felt all alone. After cleaning herself up, she had a picture of herself and her mom. So many memories clicked to her mind and she again burst out in tears. She just wished she could have at least said a 'Goodbye' to her mom before she left home to the café. 5 days passed but she still couldn't believe what had happened to her mother. That is when a person rang the bell. She went and open the door to be greeted by someone who would change her life forever.
