Chapter 22

Settling on the edge of the couch, hoping to keep the conversation short and sweet, Keston booted up the laptop and sent out a call to his parents. It felt like forever since they last spoke and there was plenty to discuss. After all, he’d basically moved into the cabin without consulting either of them and the property belonged to them, what if they dropped in for a little time for just the two of them and discovered him lounging around in his undies?

“Hey son,” his dad answered, appearing on the computer screen. “Long time no talk. Hey hon,” he called, “Keston’s calling. Come say hi. How are you doing?” He frowned. “Are you still in the cabin? How long is your vacation?”
