5 ~ Shuddup! Geez ~

"Wow, so all that happened huh? Damn!" Misha exclaimed eyes wide as she stared at Jordan.

"And you really sent that text? Woow"

She then tapped her on the shoulder lightly and with a soft smile, she questioned, "Who knew you had it in you? They might beat your ass though, wanna sleep with me tonight?"

"Hahaha Girl!" Jordan laughed and reached out to pinch Misha's rounded cheek.

"They really might gang me but at this point, I don't care. They need to contribute something because the bills are rising and I'm tired. I'm stressed."

"Mhm mm," Misha smirked lightly "Bills are important."

"Mhm," Jordan hummed quietly and turned back to her computer screen. She swiftly responded to another chat and noticing that Misha was still staring at her out of the corner of her eyes, seemingly deep in thought, she swiveled the chair towards her and asked, "What is it?"

"I think you decided to take a stand and I am so proud of you my cowardly puff," she stated quietly staring into Jordan's eyes.

"Normally," she continued, "You'd go with the flow, 'let the chips fall where they may', as you'd say but, for you to do that, they must've really gotten under your skin."

"Yeah" Jordan agreed. She looked away and shifted in her seat, fidgeting. "I guess it did."

"Awwwww," Misha crooned.

"Shuddup! Geez hahaha"

"Hehe"

In the darkened unit illuminated by the glare of the lone computer screen, the girls giggled quietly together, basking in the moment. A comforting silence descended and swallowed the unit.

Minutes ticked by slowly. The sound of fingernails clacking on the keyboard punctuated the silence repeatedly as Jordan worked steadily rocking slim shoulders and nodding her head to the low tune of 'Skankin Sweet' as it looped over and over on YouTube. Misha was laid out comfortably in the chair at her side, legs crossed, scrolling through her Instagram page and nodding along in harmony to the song.

"Aww, look at this picture," Misha crooned softly tapping on her phone to bring into sharp focus a picture they took together at UI carnival.

Jordan paused briefly to take a quick glance at the photo, "I can't believe you posted that. I looked hungry," she stated flatly.

"Nah, Girl, look at your cheekbones. Prominent. Model behavior."

"Malnourished behavior," Jordan retorted.

"Haha haha haha" Misha erupted into peals of laughter.

Jordan rolled her eyes, "Hehe."

Clack!

The door suddenly opened. Misha eased up a bit to look over her shoulder at the strapping youth who just strode through the door, letting it quietly close behind him. Both girls were immediately bathed in light as the switch was abruptly flipped on.

"I know you two Vampires bout to be mad," Chev stated laughingly as he walked to his cubicle.

"But, I need to see where I'm going."

Jordan rolled her eyes as she kept on working. Misha leveled a glare at Chevon as he placed his book bag on the chair beside him and took his seat. She watched as he booted up his desktop before asking,

"How long have you been working here?"

"Doesn't matter, the lights need to be on anyway. Unless..." He swiveled to stare at Jordan then pointedly glanced at Misha, "You guys are up to something."

Misha glared, "We aren't."

"Hmm well," He patted his shirt and turned back to his computer, "Remember there are cameras in here."

"You-"

"Misha," Jordan interrupted, "It's getting late. Chev is here now and I don't want you on the road after hours. Lemme walk you out." She swiftly turned the music off and locked the computer. She then went to Misha's cubicle and after grabbing her bag out of the compartment said,

"Chev, the girls are out in their numbers tonight so be quick."

"Yes, I can see that" Chev responded watching as the chats popped up one after another, covering his computer screen.

Clack.

Chev looked towards the door and bid Misha farewell. "Misha, see you tomorrow, walk good."

"Hmm," Misha sniffed and walked out.

"Chev back in a bit," said Jordan as she closed the door.

"All right." ===============================================================

8:20 PM | University of the Indies, Kingston Campus.

"You don't have to do this," Misha mumbled as she trailed behind Jordan. "I live on Hall, literally two steps away from here."

Outside the Kingston Information Technology Services office, Jordan paused in the parking lot. She sucked in a deep breath and with hands tucked into her pockets, looked up into the dark sky littered with stars that seem to shimmer in the darkness.

"Brrrrrrr"

She shivered slightly and watched as the cold breeze tousled Misha's loose curls.

"Jordan I'm cold," Misha pouted as she shivered. She had worked all day so she was still formally attired in dress pants with a beige shirt belted in showing off her curves. It appears that she did not bring a shawl or a jacket.

"I thought I didn't need to do this," Jordan teased looking at Misha shivering uncontrollably. In two strides, she covered the distance between them and wrapped Misha in a hug. She squeezed her tightly for a bit then released her hold, rubbing down her arms as she did so.

"Better?" Jordan asked.

"Mhmm mm" Misha nodded. She looped her arm through Jordan's and they both began a quick trot across the parking lot. A few minutes later they were both standing at the entrance to Rose Hall, a female-only dormitory located across the street from the university's main library.

Illuminated by the lights shining from several rooms, Rose Hall stood several stories, gated and guarded by security stationed at the entrance. It cut quite an imposing presence in the darkness.

Jordan glanced at the security post shrouded in darkness. She was not able to see the security guard but she knew he was there watching them. She turned back to Misha who was staring at her again.

'Honestly, this girl,' Jordan sighed.

"Stop staring and go inside. I have to go back to work."

"Okay let me know when you get home," Misha responded. She reached out and hugged Jordan tightly before releasing her then, with a quick turn, she strode through the gate. Jordan watched in silence until she entered the main doors of Rose Hall. ================================================================

9:00 PM | Kingston Information Technology Services.

"You taking a taxi home Jordan?" asked Chevon as he waited for his machine to power down. Work has concluded so he had already packed up his belongings to leave. When he realized that she was not paying him any attention, he walked over to take a look at her computer screen.

"Kingston rentals?" he queried, "moving soon?"

"Yep." She then quickly selected the options to shut down the device and pushed her chair back forcing Chevon to take several steps backward.

"Whoa there!" he exclaimed, "Anyways you taking a taxi? I could walk you to the back gate if not."

"It's okay, you can leave first," Jordan responded. She swiveled the chair to face Chevon but remained seated.

Chevon nodded his head in silent acquiescence. Jordan always left work late so this came as no surprise to him but it was still rather worrying, being a woman and all. There have been reports of some students getting robbed on campus. He wanted to change her mind but he also knew just how stubborn she could be. He decided not to force the issue and left.

As soon as Jordan was sure that Chevon had exited the building, she got up and switched off the lights in the unit, plunging the entire room into darkness. She sat down once more and took a deep breath as she sank further into her seat.

"Wheeeww."

The darkness was so calming and she needed this time to think. She had had all that bravado with Misha but if her roommate and her friends really decide to step to her, she needed to think about how she was going to handle the situation. She had no doubt whatsoever that her landlady contacted Shanique. Once the money was involved, Miss Jackie was quite proactive.

'Call the police?

No, nothing has happened yet but if they do, do something, that was definitely an option. The only one.

What's the worst they could do?'

Jordan gave the situation some serious thought but realized that she was well within her rights to speak on the situation and let the Landlady be aware of what was happening. She was definitely not comfortable so it is only right that she reported it.

"Haah might as well get this over with."

Upon coming to a decision, she immediately jumped into action. She locked up, armed the building, and decided to call a taxi to take her home.

For situations like this, the quicker you respond, the better.
