chapter 3

Brook locked her eyes upon the moon and made her first wish, she wished for some one who could be there for her no matter what, someone who would protect her and help her in hardships and troubled times.

she wished for a friend!

At that moment the necklace glowed turquoise and the room illuminated in its light. when the light had finally faded, standing tall and ethereal, stood a strangely beautiful smoke-like creature.

"wh-who are you?" Brook stuttered utterly perplexed and overwhelmed by this creatures sudden appearance.

"I am your wish!" it answered calmly with a straight expression. "wh-what d-do you mean MY wish?" ,"In your own words you wished for a 'friend' No?" the creature said slightly confused by her fear and surprise.

"B-but...how?...this?...this makes no sense!" she faltered.

Brook sank to her knees and hugged them tight in her shock. Brook felt a hand lay gently on her shoulder. This beast was comforting her? but... Why?

" It will be ok! you'll be just fine I promise!" it said bending down to hug her. strange, it felt somewhat... comforting?, having someone care about you and your well being that is. The two sat there for a while in silence no quite sure of what to do. A few hours pass, the two had been chatting away as the clouds go by, acting like a veil to conceal the moon as each one passes over. the two had seemed to have gotten along and Brook finally had her friend. Brook loved the beasts attention, presence and stories, he was all she ever needed. he was like water to her, she couldn't live without him now that she had him.

"so... what should I call you then?" Brook said slightly embarased at the realisation she didn't ask beforehand. "hmm...I'm not sure I don't really have a name you see!" the creature said slightly upset by the fact he had no name to go by. "well in that case, how about I give you a name?" Brook asked jumping up with excitement." I'll call you... Beast!", "Beast?...Beast!" he said beaming with pride and joy at his newly gifted name.

the two chatted some more, and Brook found herself confusing in him. As brook rambled on Beast listened to her and was as kind as possible to her about her problems. soon after Brook had drifted of into a deep slumber. Beast looked down at her and smiled sweetly. he picked up the blanket on the bed and gently draped it over Brooks sleeping body in his lap. She looked so peaceful as she slept, Beast carefully bent down and kissed her on the forehead as a gesture to say 'goodnight'. Brook had finally gotten the friend she so desperately deserved and needed.
