40 Inspector who?

Ichibe had changed his clothes. He spent too long in the store because he had more fun than he expected. Right now he wore a long old trench coat. Underneath he wore a white shirt with a loose tie. His pants were beige and nothing much to look at either.

He wore old brown shoes and had a cigar in his hand to complete the look. Ichibe changed his face using his powers. He gave himself lush black short hair with some grey strands. He gave himself a height of about 5'6''.

That was it. Using magic he created a typical ID and a good name to go along with everything as well. He had a name in mind that would fit perfectly.

After having prepared everything, Ichibe made his way to the police station in Santa Clarita. But first, he had to get himself a car. No way was he going to walk all the way there now. He had already completed his daily running program.

After about an hour Ichibe parked his Peugeot 403 Cabriolet at the police station and walked in.

"Hi, how may I help you?", an overweight policeman said without looking at him.

"Good day. My name is Inspector Falk. I'm investigating a stolen bike case and was hoping I might have a look at some of your tapes."

The policeman looked up and checked Ichibe's ID. Like the overweight and bored man that he was, he breathed hard when he had to do some actual work.

He stood up from his chair and motioned Ichibe to follow him. They entered an office and the fat guy told him to enter. Inside, he found the chief of the station drinking coffee and eating doughnuts. He was not impressed.

"Yes?"

"Good day, sir. Inspector Falk is at your service. I'm investigating a stolen bike case and was hoping I might have a look at some of your tapes."

"Tapes? We don't have something like that here."

"Oh? Hmm, then maybe you can help me and tell me whether you have seen a blonde woman on a bike travelling north?"

"We've had some chick on a bike simply ignoring the traffic signs close to Humphreys."

"Oh, that's already more than I'd hoped. Thank you very much, sir."

"Sure."

Ichibe turned around and was about to leave the room but then stopped.

"Just one more thing…"

The chief looked up from his food and said:

"Yes?"

"Would you mind telling me in which direction Humphreys is?"

The chief raised his eyebrows like he was talking to an idiot.

"Down the street, you take the second left and then follow the road. You can't miss it then."

"Thank you very much. Have a nice day."

Ichibe left the office and got into his Cabriolet. He followed the directions of the chief and eventually got to Humphreys. Taking the 14 he left Santa Clarita. Dressing up was not a bad idea, but it took too long.

So back to the old way it was.

He got to a crossing and stopped the car. It was time to decide again. Where should he go? Which direction did the Kree go? North or East?

And just like the last time, he had to brute force his way through this problem.

Ichibe stepped out of the car and stored it using magic. He changed his clothes to his usual ones. Deciding to go north, Ichibe used Shunpo and disappeared from the spot...

Before he could do that though he stopped. It seemed that he lost himself in his 'game' and forgot about the severity of the situation. From all the things he knew about the Kree, they were bad news.

However, he was here so it was ok. And besides, this Kree soldier might be a scout for all he knew. Meaning he didn't have to hurry up that much and would rather wait to see their motives.

"Hm, as much as it pains me ... I shall take this more seriously now. At least somewhat."

Ichibe took out his phone and dialled Lei Fang's number.

*Ring Ring*

"Lei Fang here."

"Lei Fang this is Ichibe. I wanted to ask whether you have any more information on where the Kree and the SHIELD agent went. I am now standing on the 14 in Vincent, Califonia and am thinking about whether to follow the 14 north or go east."

"Ah, Headcaptain there is indeed information regarding this. While we don't know where the Kree and Agent Fury went, we might have something else.

There have been multiple calls to the police about a biker woman cutting them off and causing an accident on the 14 in Lancaster. I don't think this is a coincidence, sir."

"Hmm, you are correct I also believe this to be the Kree woman. All right I might find out where she went before teaming up with the SHIELD agent. Good worlk Lei Fang."

"Thank you very much, sir."

Putting the phone away, Ichibe shunpo'd north along the 14 to get to Lancaster. He was sure that the Kree and the SHIELD agent did not meet in Lancaster. So it is safe to assume that they are somewhere outside of Lancaster.

It took but a second for him to pass through Lancaster and arrive at another crossing. One leading to Rosamnond and another heading west. Normally it was probable that the two met outside of a city and therefore he should head west but this time ... he felt like he was close.

He decided to trust this feeling that he just now named: his gut feeling, and headed north to Rosamond.

He passed the beginning stages of a casino called Diamond Jim's Casino and arrived at Rosamond Boulevard. It was quite a sad sight to look at. He guesses that this will only increase in population but now it is a sad little place.

However, his gut told him that he was very close this time. So he used his speed and checked different parts of Rosamond. In 10 minutes he had found a bar that seemed weird. Well, it was not weird on the first look. It was a seemingly run-down place that seemed to be put together with any leftover parts that were found.

And that is why Ichibe thought it was suspicious. There was no way something like this was real. Someone tried to have it look like this and slightly overextended.

Complicated explanations aside, Ichibe saw the true name of this place and understood what it was. It was truly a bar but it was associated with the military. And that was definitely something that interested him.

He went in and was greeted by an elderly bartender.

"How may I help you?"

"Hmm, a stranger walks into your bar and the first thing you ask is how you can help him. Not what would you like to drink, or what can I get you?"

The man was perplexed. It seemed he had misspoken due to the strange attire the man was wearing. It looked like he was a monk or something. But what was weirder was this ... monk had picked up on his mistake and seemed to be here for a specific reason.

After thinking for a moment that already was too long, he tried to explain himself.

"We don't only offer drinks. Food, music or a round at the table are also possible."

"Ah, not a bad excuse but you really have to work on the speed of your lies. It has to come naturally and faster, you simply took too long to think about it."

"I ... don't know what you're talking 'bout."

"I'm entirely sure you know what I'm talking about. Now I am here for a particular woman who passed by here. A blond one. Do you know where she went?"

"I haven't seen such a woman today."

"Now let's not get hasty with those responses sir. I told you to be faster with your lies and not to make them worse."

"Wha-"

"There is a bike outside your bar ... it was reported as stolen, by the exact woman I am trying to find. Now if you would be so kind as to start telling me where she went, I will be on my way."

The barkeep was beginning to sweat. Slowly he tried to get to his shotgun, which he had placed behind the bar.

"If you would just tell me where they went I would leave. There is no need to grab that shotgun, good sir."

The man's eyes widened and he took out the shotgun and pointed it at Ichibe. Before he could pull the trigger though a finger tapped him on his Glabella and he lost consciousness.

"Haah, why do they always want to do it the hard way? Now I will have to invade his privacy and search his memories. Oh well."
