To Forget

"Ha… It seems like my vitality is drying up. Using that destruction skill really depleted everything I had"

"Oh well, that was an exciting battle. It's been a while since I have had to struggle like that to win"

Bruce teleported to the abandoned planet where he threw Deathwing. There, he found his weapon sitting on the ground waiting for him.

"Look buddy, I know you're mad at me for throwing you away like that during the fight, but I did not want you to get hurt when I release the destruction energy"

"Even I don't know what would happen to you, so I played it safe. Please forgive me"

Deathwing flew up from the ground and started hitting Bruce in the face.

"Please spare my handsome face! You know the ladies love this face!"

"Haha, but in all seriousness, this will be the last time my friend" Bruce held Deathwing and looked at it dearly before sitting down.

"You know that after I lost Lydia in that war, my only motivation in life was to reach the pinnacle and somehow get her back. But it didn't pan out the way I wanted. I guess that's life for you. No one can have everything"

Deathwing stopped hitting Bruce and started to sit next to him because it knew this would be the end of their journey. It had always sensed a deep sadness in Bruce after that war and as his companion, it wanted to die with Bruce as well.

"There are plenty of people in this universe who would love to have you as a weapon. I don't want your life to also end with mine"

"There will be a day in the future when someone worthy of you will become your new owner. You have been with me for hundreds of thousands of years and I cannot thank you enough. It's time for you to have your own adventures as well"

Deathwing started hitting Bruce's face once more after it heard what Bruce suggested.

"You can hit me all you want, but I want you to know that after I'm gone, there will need to be someone to look over my family. Please protect them"

Deathwing begrudgingly agreed and stopped hitting Bruce. It flew quietly by his side one last time.

"Good, I will now send you to them. Remember, the future is full of surprises so enjoy the new adventures without me." After saying the final farewell, Bruce sent Deathwing to the planet where his faction got teleported to.

"I only have a few moments left so why don't you come out already!"

A cloaked figure came out of thin air and stared at Bruce. Bruce could not sense any energy from this figure. He smiled at the figure because he knew this was coming.

"Are you the grim reaper coming to take my life? If so, make it quick and painless"

The figure removed his cloak and revealed himself to be a handsome young man with a gentle smile on his face.

"No, I'm not the grim reaper, fortunately for you. I am the Celestial that you wished to talk to several months ago"

Bruce's face turned cold as he remembered the day that all his hopes vanished. The ritual was supposed to allow him to talk to the Celestial to bring back Lydia. However, when he sacrificed half of his strength, he could not summon the Celestial for some unknown reason.

"Since you're here, can you bring back my Lydia?"

Bruce asked with a neutral expression expecting the worst.

"No, I cannot. To be frank with you, I already knew what you were going to ask but it was an impossible request for me"

"WHY!!! I know that you have complete control over life and death in this universe"

"You should have the powers to bring her back!" With his last strength, Bruce yelled at the Celestial, the strongest being in the universe, having no fear of the consequences.

"Because she has already been reborn. Do you honestly think a soul that powerful will be in limbo after hundreds of years?" The Celestial answered calmly, paying no attention to Bruce's rudeness.

"So that was it. That's why you didn't respond to my request. But why the hell didn't you tell me this earlier?" Bruce lay down on the ground while looking up at the sky in rage.

"I have my reasons for not telling you. However, since your original request cannot be granted, I can grant you a new request right now."

"Would you like me to revitalize your body so that you can continue living and see your beloved?" The Celestial threw out a lifeboat to Bruce with the expectation that he would say yes.

"No, that won't be necessary" Bruce answered right away which greatly surprised the Celestial.

"Lydia now has a new life and a new destiny. She deserves to be happy in this new life"

"We went through countless struggles and tragedies to get to the top. If I see her again, I will only bring back the past trauma. After all, she has lost many friends and families on our journey."

"Since you have not fulfilled a wish yet from me, I would like you to ensure that Lydia remains safe and happy till the end of her life." Bruce asked the Celestial politely and lay on the ground for his final rest.

"If that is your wish then I shall grant it. Do keep in mind that you will not have the eternal rest that you yearn for"

"Since your soul is too powerful for this universe, I cannot keep your soul in limbo for eternity as that would affect the balance of everything"

"You will be reincarnated. That is the rule of life and death."

"Then so be it." Bruce began to close his eyes and waited for his death.

"As compensation for not answering you last time, would you like to have this life memory in your next reincarnation? It would certainly help you reach the pinnacle once more"

Bruce opened his eye briefly and answered in a tired tone.

"No. I want to forget everything. I'm totally okay being a typical plebian"

"You're quite an interesting person. Many people would sacrifice everything to reach the pinnacle, and here you are, only wishing to forget everything"

"I shall grant you your request. Farewell Bruce Pendragon"

After Bruce quietly died on the planet, a small light beam hit the core of the planet and destroyed everything altogether.

After completing what needed to be done, the Celestial teleported to his domain and muttered out loud.

"Unfortunately for you Bruce, I don't have the luxury to uphold my commitment to you. Time is running out for this universe

"I alone cannot hold off the other universes from taking over. After billions of years, this universe has finally produced a being that's capable of using the laws of destruction."

"You will remember your past when you meet your beloved once more. Only then, can you truly master the laws of destruction."
