33 Selena Lucine [2]

Boom! Crack!

The Marquess struck his scythe down at Selena. But to his surprise, Selena wasn't there anymore.

The Marquess shifted his gaze above, only to find Selena already up in the air, levitating.

He seemed to notice the single obsidian horn on her forehead, as he said,

"I didn't expect the sudden change… A single horn? Has the other one been chipped away?"

The Marquess briefly paused. Then a smirk etched on his face, and continued,

"...Or a half Demon? Tsk, how distasteful. An entity that belongs to neither the Abyss or the Human race, an outcast."

Selena paid no heed to the Marquess' words. She already knew she was an outcast from the day she was born.

Her real parents had already abandoned her. Her adoptive family alienated her.

Just a few insulting words from a Demon wouldn't shake her heart in the slightest.

Her wounds were already healing due to the manifestation of her Demonic powers.

Suddenly, Selena's lips slowly curled into a smirk.

If there's one thing the Demons had in common, it was that they were all crazy once they started fighting, and Selena was no exception to this.

The sole reason why Selena tackles Abyss Raids alone was because she had to hide her Demonic Blood.

If exposed, a witch hunt would most likely happen, and Selena would undoubtedly be executed.

But growing up in the Human Domain had made Selena fond of humans. She would risk her life for humanity.

Most of the time, Selena was a sweet girl, often showing kindness to anyone she meets.

Her beauty, personality, and strength, were the reason why she had a lot of men courting her, ultimately rejecting them.

If they knew what she really was, they would most likely abandon her, breaking Selena's heart.

She'd close off her heart because of this, afraid that if any men were to win her heart, it would end up in a tragedy.

Gazing at the Marquess in front of her, Selena strode forward with heavy steps.

Each step made the ground shake intensely, as small craters would form.

Shifting the gravity of her fist, Selena charged like a thunderbolt forwards towards the Marquess.

Boom!

The Marquess had no time to react as he was sent hurling away by Selena's fists.

With Demonic energy surging within Selena, she shifted the Marquess' gravity, pulling him towards her.

Boom! Clank!

Shockwaves propagated, shaking the entire ground, as Selena's fists connected with the Marquess who blocked it with his scythe.

'Tsk.'

Selena clicked her tongue.

Selena let out a rapid barrage of gravity enhanced punches.

Each blow made a heavy sound as it propagated shockwaves, causing the ground to shake.

But it felt like it was being stopped by an iron wall, as the Marquess would continued to parry with his scythe.

Even with her Demonic Powers, it seemed like they were still on equal footing.

After all, a full blooded Demon was still more superior than a half Demon, given their human blood.

But still, Selena did not falter. Grinning to herself she continued to send a barrage of fists the Marquess' way.

However, at the last impact, the Marquess suddenly vanished.

Then…

Slash! Splurt

"AGHKKK!"

The Marquess instantly reappeared behind her and slashed her back, leaving a deep gashing wound.

With her back bleeding, Selena could hear ringing in her ears as her vision started to get hazy.

She was about to pass out from all the blood loss.

Despite her injuries healing due to her Demon manifestation, it would only heal her wounded flesh. It didn't mean the blood she lost would recover.

Realizing this, Selena tried to get away, shifting her gravity horizontally.

But…

Splurt!

The Marquess thrusted the tip of its scythe in Selena's chest.

"Kughh!"

Selena spat out blood.

'Haha, this could be it.'

There was no way out of this, she'd already exhausted most of her strength.

There was no one who could save her.

'At least… he finally managed to escape.'

A smile contoured on her bleeding lips.

If it meant Shin could live, then her life was a small price to pay.

Suddenly, Selena felt an intense energy emanating a few distance away from her.

'Wha-'

"SELENA!"

In an instant, Selena reappeared a few feet away behind the Marquess.

'What just-'

With her eyes peeled in front of the Marquess who stood a few feet in front of her, her attention shifted to a certain boy with long black hair and blue blazing embers that emitted like an aura.

'Is that… Shin?'

Millions of questions popped up in Selena's mind. Shin was now standing in the same place where Selena was a few seconds ago.

Then, she realized what had just happened.

Rewarp.

Shin had Rewarped with Selena, but… how?

From what Selena knew, Shin could only Rewarp when his mana is imbued on to it. There shouldn't have been a time when Shin imbued his mana on her.

It was then, when Selena realized that Shin took advantage of the mental link they had.

After all, a mental link was akin to a conversation exchange using mana as the channel.

Even after it was severed, there were still traces of lingering mana that came from Shin.

But… Shin looked entirely different.

"Shin… is that you?"

Blue-blazing embers that emitted from Shin continued to expand, as his arms were encased in blue-smokey wisps.

Suddenly, Selena felt a chill down her spine.

Shin's face was blank, indifferent towards the Marquess who was supposed to be more powerful than him.

Now it seemed like the Marquess was the one who was at a disadvantage.

Shin appeared like a Monarch gazing down on a lowly peasant.

***

'What is this…'

The Marquess shuddered, as chills ran down his spine.

The only time he felt this kind of fear was when he was in front of the Demon Emperor.

It didn't make sense.

Sure, the boy in front of him had a drastic change, as fancy looking blue wisps protruded on his figure.

But from what the Marquess remembered, the boy was only a Third Star.

An individual with that kind of strength should've only been like a fly front of the Marquess

'It might just be an illusion. He must've been enraged for what I did to that Half Demon.'

When the Marquess shifted his gaze from Shin, towards Selena, he spoke up,

"You're in way over you hea-"

"Silence."

The Marquess was cut off abruptly by Shin, who continued to gaze upon him with a cold demeanor.

Slash!

Suddenly, the Marquess' arm, that was holding the scythe, was cleanly cut off, flowing in the air.

Fear emanated within his soul. The Marquess couldn' comprehend what had just happened.

As to what he knew, Shin only stood still with his hand on his hilt the whole time.

He'd never seen him unsheathe the blade, nor slash it towards him.

No, it's not that he didn't see it.

Shin was just way too fast.
