1 A Blistering Hot Day

A hot day just like any other in Miami, Florida. Thats all it took to describe the type of morning that Victor Stone was having as he walked down the streets in a white sleeveless muscle shirt and black cargo shorts.

Although Victor was pretty much used to the heat as he had grown up in the sun, it didn't mean he particularly enjoyed the intense rays and occasional humidity that he experienced nearly every summer. He could handle almost every other part of the year as it was usually slightly cooler, but when it came it summer, sh*t cranked up to 11. If it wasn't for the fact that his parents kicked him out of the house to exercise and refresh on his martial arts, then he wouldve preferred to stay inside and watch anime or tv shows and movies.

As far back as he could remember, his parents had had him tutored in the ways of the force...err martial arts....and had made him study relentlessly for years on end. He was still allowed to do other things though as long as it didn't interefere with his studies, both in school and martial arts. The years of studying and training along with diligent anime and television helped to form a rather curious optimistic personality along with smarts and discipline that came with studying martial arts.

Victor had just moments ago been in the middle of watching this anime that he had found about a week ago and had a super misleading title. The title was something about wanting to eat a pancreas and though it had thrown him off at first, he came to actually like the anime even though the main waifu of the story was destined to die. He knew he would be crying near the end but he just said "F*ck it, I'm game" and proceeded to watch it anyways.

Since it had been a day off for him, he figured he would just binge the entire series in one sitting before bawling like a little b*tch. However, his parents didn't seem to agree with his idea as once he was in the middle of episode 6, they turned off the wifi to the house, snatched his phone and demanded him to go out and hang around kids his own age.

Though he wanted to argue that kids his age these days were joining gangs and smoking weed, he kept his mouth shut and left the house. This was how he ended up walking down the street in flip flops in the middle of summer on a scorching day. A whole day he had planned out to do nothing but watch anime had been ruined yet again thanks to his mom being a nymphomaniac. He knew the only reason he constantly made him study and train was so she could go and screw her husband without having to try and be silent.

"Damn mother," Victor grumbled as he wiped the sweat from his eyes. "You're lucky I like martial arts otherwise I wouldn't even bother. Its too damned hot out here to even play Pokemon Go let alone walk...wait those are the same things."

Victor stopped and rubbed his eyes as his vision began to get blurry from the sweat pouring down his face. His hearing was even becoming distorted as a loud ringing began filling his ears, in fact all of his senses were starting to go haywire, his nose smelling some sort of smoke and his skin starting to burn as if he were standing in a fire.

After wiping away the sweat, Victor opened his eyes and then closed them right back. There was so many things wrong with what he saw that he couldn't help but close his eyes. However, the smell of the smoke and the crackling of the flames eventually convinced him to open his bright neon blue eyes once again.

Sure enough, the first thing Victor saw was the flickering of tall flames surrounding him and an unconscious girl lying on a bed in front of him. Though it was impossible to believe, the evidence was hard to dispute as his lungs began to reject the smoke that was now filling his lungs, forcing him to cough. The dancing flames that were now rising higher and starting to spread gave off an intense heat that made him feel he was burning alive.

"Man this is some genjutsu type sh*t," Victor said as he looked around the room for an escape route.

The open door to the bedroom was blocked off as the flames were already acquainted with it. It looked like the only way out was the rather large window situated between him and the bed, a window that lead outside where Victor could see he was at least on the first floor.

Running over to the bed, Victor began to shake the girl who, oddly enough, had fox ears and a tail. "Hey hey hey, wake up sleeping beauty. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that you DON'T want to be burned alive. If I'm right then wake the hell up and lets get moving."

After receiving no response, Victor turned away from the girl and looked around the room for something to throw. His eyes landed on a chair which hadn't been caught in the flames as of yet which he found to be miraculous. Without so much as a hint of hesitation, he swung the chair around and threw it through the window.

What followed afterwards was similar to a small explosion as the once slow moving fire was assaulted by oxygen causing it rapidly strengthen. Victor, having been prepared for this, had dived onto the bed and used the blanket to shield him and the girl from the sudden increase in heat. Though he was still burned, it was significantly less than of he had taken the full force of the blast.

Throwing the blanket aside, Victor picked up the girl in a princess carry and using sheer force of will, ran through the fire and jumped out the window. He was no doubt severly burned by doing this but he reasoned that he would live as long as he recieved treatment. The wounds weren't severe enough for him die right away, but if left unattended it would be a different matter altogether.

Running a good distance away from the burning house, Victor set the girl down on the grass before standing back up. "If you can hear me....dont move. If you can't, well then try to not die when you wake up. I'm going to go get medical help and then find out what the hell happened to us cause some freaky shiznizzle has been going on around here."

Turning away from the girl, Victor began to run, or rather limp like crazy as the burns to his hurt so bad he could hardly think. He was accustomed to pain so shaking it off was pretty easy, but the drain on his stamina in doing so was going to cost him later. One can't expect to just walk away all fine after walking through fire in flip flops which, by the way, he had to leave behind as they were slowing him down.

The farther Victor went, the more confused he became. As the pain had already dulled his senses, his confusion just made him unable to process anything at all.

He seemed to be in a village of sorts, one that was on fire, flames rising higher and higher. There were screams ringing out everywhere he went, the sounds of people calling for help as well as some other words he couldn't make out. As he walked, he found some people but they were all bleeding out to the point where they were beyond saving so Victor just kept on walking.

Eventually, Victor came upon a group of people dressed in bright gray chainmail underneath a small suit of armor. On their breastplate positioned on their left side was a picture of a bright golden lion in the middle of roaring. Each of these armored men held a spear in hand which seemed to have fresh blood on the ends of it.

In Victors pain filled state, he stumbled over to them, making sure to keep his balance. "Hey, could you guys give me a hand? I kind of need a doctor? Do any of you know the way to the hospital?"

The men raised their spears but the one in the lead raised his hand and the other immediately backed down. The man who had raised his hand then snapped his fingers. "As a fellow human, I shall give you the healing you need but then I require you to leave immediately. We are in the middle of important work. JULIA, COME HERE!!!"

A young frail looking girl who looked to be around Victors age made her way forward, edging shyly around the men before making her way over to Victor. The girl had long blonde hair, blue eyes and skin that looked rather smooth though it was bruised black and blue. Her body was mostly hidden by a large rucksack that reached all the way down to mid-thigh and the only other thing she wore was the collar around her neck and the chains on her legs and arms.

"Please hold still for a moment sir," the girl said as she knelt down next to him. "All the wounds will be gone momentarily." She placed her hand on Victors forehead and closed her eyes.

Almost at the same time that she closed her eyes, a blue light began to creep from her hands, slowly making its way along his body. Everywhere the light touched, Victor could feel the pain fade away completely as if had never been there in the first place. The blue light continued downwards, past Victors waist and to his thighs, all the way to the tips of his feet. Not only could he feel the pain fading, but he felt as if all his energy had been restored as well as additional energy he didnt even know he had.

"Woah.....that is trippy," Victor muttered as he examined his previously burned legs which had been painful to the point of him passing out. "I swear this day has become very anime-ish. I guess this is what happens when you watch too much TV."

"I healed all abnormal conditions to the human body," The girl said as she stood up. "You're as good as new." The girl brushed her long hair back, revealing long pointy ears that Victor hadn't noticed before.

"This elves' healing magic is among the best in the kingdom," The man who had spoken earlier said. "So much so that even though shes a slave, we knights aren't allowed to defile her in any way."

Victor pushed himself off the ground and began to test his limbs, stretching his body every which way, testing the flexibility. When he found he could move like he used to without even a hint of pain, he began to laugh softly as he reveled in his returned strength. He was amazed that something he considered to be impossible happened right before his very eyes.

Stepping forward, Victor grabbed the girls hand, the chains clinking softly. "Hey, mind coming with me for a second? There's people I need you to heal." He looked into her eyes with a smile.

Before the girl could answer, she was yanked back and about three spears were raised in front of him, poised to strike. Behind each spear stood a man with a look of disgust and hatred behind their eyes, a look that Victor didn't quite understand. However he did understand the feeling of bloodlust that was oozing off of them, making it clear that they would undoubtedly kill him without hesitation.

"You have overstepped your boundaries fellow human," said the leader, his hand clutched around the girls colllar. "If you don't walk away now, we WILL kill you. Make your choice or we'll make it for you."

"Okay okay okay, just answer me one question and then I'll decide." Victor glanced at the girl, then the man, followed by the armored men standing in front of him. "What is your purpose in being here at this village.

The man tightened his grip on the girls collar before answering. "We are here to capture all the demihumans residing in this town on the charge of treason. They will have the choice of either execution of a life of slavery. This matter was handed down personally by his majesty."

"Oh, okay, then I don't feel bad about what I'm going to do to you next," Victor smiled before moving with lightning fast speed, ducking underneath the spears and slamming his palms into two of their jaws, sending them backwards.

The third man attempted to regain his composure but it was already to late as Victor twirled around and slammed his elbow into the mans cheek. The guy dropped without a sound, unconscious before he even hit the ground. The other two men were getting up but it was clear they were rather shaky.

"Alright guys," Victor said as walked forward. "I'm gonna be needing that girl."
