1 First Outbreak

"Uncle, no-no!" 14-year-old Cecilia screamed as her uncle forcefully tied her to the table.

Uncle gave her a piercing look as he opened the needle.

"All I'm doing is making sure you stay in control. What happened cannot be repeated in the future; do you understand?"

"Uncle- please..."

"Do. you . understand?"

He grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him and see the seriousness in his eyes.

"Yes, uncle."

Sirius began to slowly carve lines into her flesh. He seems to be indifferent to her crying, but if someone were to look closely at him, they would notice the quick glance he gave her every few seconds, giving her some of the concentration that he cannot function without in this delicate, terrifyingly accurate work, full of precise, tiny lines that didn't seem to have been made by a human being.

Unfortunately, this masterpiece could not help her for long.

'Happy Swans' orphanage is a heavily funded institute by parties of interest that has safely raised thousands of children. Sadly, evil dug a root and grew in a place where children are left to manage most of their affairs among themselves. That root is called Valentino.

Although Valentino has the reputation of a 40-year-old crook, he was only in his early adulthood. The only contribution to his life was being a catalyst in the meeting between Sirius and Cecilia.

His tragic, sudden death most likely averted a disaster that would have occurred if Cecilia had gotten out of control years later, when no one could suppress her.

This one, forced-upon act is probably the only thing that would have saved him from the worst layer of hell.

Valentino was better known at the orphanage as "the principal's son,"  a fact he would flex at any chance he got.

Every child in the orphanage knew that if they wanted to live well, they had to obey Valentino, or that their forced stay in the institution would become extremely unpleasant.

Valentino used to label some young girls as 'dolls'; he and his followers would use them when and however Valentino wanted.

The girls who used to be forced to obey if they wanted to eat. Those who were witnesses have been forced to ignore them if they wanted to sleep. There was no one to tell, and no one wanted to tell. Consider the fact that their lives could become a living hell with a snap of a finger.

Living like that for a long period of time, Valentino became more and more daring; the already 22-year-old was for a long time the oldest and biggest in the orphanage. He started reaching out to girls so young that even his followers felt sick to their stomachs.

From 12 to 10 to 8. He would always choose the most beautiful, most shiny, new apple on the tree.

Cecilia, 5 years old, with a couple of big, sparkling red eyes and shy white hair, was such an apple.

. .             .

Sirius didn't tend to involve himself in children's matters. In fact, it was one of the many things he loathed, but when he found that the source of the inexplicable magic reaction that Kira asked to report was a crying toddler covered in blood, he couldn't help but feel a slight pity in his heart.

The main reason he agrees to Kira's requests is silence. Without nagging from the order and suppressing the troubles early in the crib, he found peace in the relatively quiet area he chose for himself.

Although the screaming toddler was far from the definition of 'quiet', Sirius picked her up and tried to comfort her with obvious incompetence.

He knew that such decisions should not be taken lightly; he knew that such a thing would destroy all the peace he had worked to build over the years, yet looking at her red eyes shining with tears, he couldn't let those young eyes be extinguished so quickly by him.

That's how Sirius adopted Cecilia.
