Chapter 8

Before I begin this chapter I want to apologize for vanishing. I wasn't being lazy this time and instead was dealing with bad depression. Some things happened in life that left me pretty emotionally drained. Again, I apologize for going MIA.

~Lilliana's POV~

Well, a week passed, and Arilla was now on top of the food chain. With her looks and her easy-to-talk personality, it was only a matter of time. Jay wasn't a big fan of her, he said there was just something fake about her. Like she was wearing a mask or something. I got that same feeling as well, but I felt a chill go up my spine whenever she was near. I don't know why my body reacts that way, but it just does. I and Jay decided the best course of action is to create some distance between us and Arilla, so that's what we've been doing this past week. I feel bad for avoiding her sure, but I just can't shake this feeling about her.

Jay watched Arilla from across the cafeteria his eyes narrowing a bit. "I don't like her," he muttered. Glancing up from my tray full of questionable meat squished between two stale pieces of bread I follow his gaze to Arilla. "I would say give her a chance, but honestly she gives me the heebie-jeebies," I replied with a shiver. He clicked his tongue before turning and looking at me with a grin.

"So, the Alpha is having his mating ceremony today. He is going to go through the pack and try and find his mate. There is going to be food piled to the ceiling! You have to come! Please, Lil?" He jutted out his bottom lip in a pout, pulling off his best puppy dog eyes. I just roll my eyes, "You know I'm not into parties or large crowds."

He huffed and crossed his arms. "You are so not ditching me to go to a party alone!" He scowled at me. I sighed shaking my head, "I'm sorry but I c--" He cut me off before I could finish, "Oh no you don't! I swear to the moon goddess I will tell the Alpha all your dirty little secrets! Like that time you stuck your finger in his cake icing just to make sure it wasn't Too Sweet. Oh! Or how about that time you clogged up his toilet because the other toilets were taken!" He smirked tilting his chin up as if he won. Of course, he ended up winning, I also made him swear to take those secrets to the grave with him if I agreed to go to the party.

After school, we headed back to my house to get ready. He brought his clothes with him to get ready at my house as well. Running up the stairs I called out to Mrs. Janny that I was home, and that I'd be out late tonight. We made it to my room, before I made it to my closet I was suddenly shoved onto the bed by Jay. "You thought I'd let you pick an outfit? Ha! No no no, honey, you sit right there and let me work my magic!" with his declaration he got started rummaging through my closet.

After a while, Jay moved out of the closet a look of horror on his face, "What the hell is this atrocity fashion homicide in here?! Thank goddess I went shopping beforehand! You would've looked like sasquatch squeezed into a dress." I just narrowed my eyes at that crossing my arms. He moved and opened his bag digging through it before he grinned. "We are going to turn you into a boss ass bitch."

After three hours I now stood in a pair of black heels, black dress pants, and a white blouse, with a black suit jacket, draped over my shoulders. My hair was in a half-up half-down style, the ponytail was a messy bun while my hair that was down was curled. My eyes had black and gray painted on the lids making a smokey look effect. My lips were glossed and painted red. I hate to admit it, but I looked handsome, sexy, elegant, and mysterious all in one. Jay has praiseworthy skills.

Jay was looking snack worthy as well, he was wearing a royal purple suit with black glossy dress shoes. He wore a black tie, with a gold tie clip. He added a bit of his makeup though it was a natural look only to make his eyes look a bit wider and more mysterious. His lips were tinted red, but unlike mine, his looked far more natural as if he was born with rose-tinted lips. His hair was fixed up as well, his hair had been done the day before and still had its flawless fade.

He grinned, "Seeing how you reacted to me, I can't wait to knock the socks off of everyone else!" I just laughed and shook my head. We soon made our way down the stairs and out of the house. We got into Jay's car and he took us to the pack house. I was lost in my thoughts before my jaw dropped open and I looked at him, "I forgot! This is your mating ceremony too! You just turned eighteen didn't you?!" He laughed and nodded. Whoa! My best friend could find his mate tonight! I'm such a dunce to have forgotten!

We pulled up and parked, I could see the nervousness make its way onto his face as he moved and wiped his hands on his pants. It was strange seeing the normally confident Jay act like this. I couldn't wait to see how his mate reacts, if anyone gets paired with Jay they will be one lucky son of a bitch. I reach over and pat the back of his hand, "You okay there?" I asked my brow raised. He blinked and looked at me as if just registering what I just said, He gave me a nervous smile and nodded. "Yep! Let's go!" he said with forced enthusiasm. I just chuckled and got out, we headed towards the house. I could already see people dancing, laughing, drinking, and some making out before the moon fully rose to send them all in different directions.

This night was going to be interesting. I can't wait to see what happens.
