1 Chapter 1

A door made of dark oak wood with dark royal blue accents carved beautifully into the edges of the rounded top straight down to the bottom of the door, each carving depicting a gruesome scene. A man getting burned alive while his wife and children cower in fear knowing full well that they're next, a woman naked and being skinned alive, a little boy getting his hands chopped off while he sobs and screeches in pain. The carvings seemingly move, exaggerating the ghastly sight. I go to run my fingers over the carving in the middle of a man laughing hysterically when the doors swing open revealing an elderly man dressed in black robes with the same dark royal blue accents "Issac Cambell" the voice sounded like a little girls', not an old man in his 80s "Come Issac Cambell." the frail man spoke. I gingerly crept forward and stood in front of the older man. The elderly man shakily brought his hand up and placed it on my forehead "Thank you for freeing me, my child."

"Issac get your ass out of bed!" my mom screams up at me "I am I am!" I yell back while sliding out of bed, I slide my hands through my hair and get dressed for school, and walk downstairs "You look more and more like your grandpa every day." my mom sighs. I glance at myself in the mirror. I have slicked-back spiky hair, which is all-natural other than the slicked-back part. My grandpa had black hair that was flat against his head but he had green eyes while I have dark blue eyes. This woman is crazy. I'm not even related to him.

I quickly make toast and run out the door and race to school. I burst through my classroom door "Ahh Issac. What's your excuse this time?" my teacher groaned "I'm tired, I really don't feel like your sarcastic comments today." I replied, wincing at the headache growing in the back of my skull while sliding into my seat.

Ms. Gray rattled off the lesson until the bell rang for the next class. During Mr. Robins's class, I was called to the office which I really don't know why... Sure I had been late the last few days but it shouldn't be enough for me to be sent to the office. I slowly stood up and walked into the hallway and down the stairs passing lockers and other classes and I finally reached the office "Mr. Cambell!" the office lady looked… Scared? She stood up and ushered me into a meeting room, not the principal's office.

The office lady opened the door and quickly retreated. My principal was seated at the head of the table and sitting around him were men in strange black suits, no sunglasses or anything, just black suits, and fancy shoes. "Please sit down, Mr. Cambell." my principal ordered. I slide out a chair and sit down "Mr. Cambell, We are transferring you to our school, East Bridge Academy. We have already talked to your mother and she has agreed. We have all your information in our system already. So please pack up your things, you are starting tomorrow." one of the suited men spoke "Isn't that one of those rich private schools? How the hell am I gonna get there by 8 in the morning? It's in Iowa for god's sake ." "We shall drop you off at your home after this meeting so you can pack your clothes and say goodbye to your parents. We shall then get on a plane and you will stay in the dorms." the other suited man spoke. The men stood up and shook hands with my now former principal and ushered me out. I watched the men sit in a nice black car while I walked upstairs to grab my things.

I slowly open the door to Mr. Robin's classroom "Sit down Isaac, we're in the middle of a lesson so please follow along now that you're back." "Uh, sorry sir but I'm being transferred to another school I guess." I speed walk to my desk and start emptying out my books and things "Really where?" he asked curiously "East Bridge Academy in Iowa." I answered confused myself "Isn't that some rich private school? How the hell did you get in there? You're as poor as dirt and as dumb as a box of rocks." a kid… Peter laughed. I sneered at him and finished grabbing my things and rushed out the door as Peter quickly seized his laughing.

I hopped in the men's car and they drove off towards my house. When they stopped I walked up to the door, I fumble in my backpack for my keys and unlocked the door. My parents run up to me and hug me "Issac you're going to be so far away! We're gonna miss you! From California to Iowa!" my dad sobbed "I'm gonna miss you but mom, dad, I gotta pack." I reach up and rub the back of my neck. My parents let go of me and wipe their tears, I head upstairs and grab two suitcases and pack some tickets and clothes. I quickly peeked around me to make sure no one was watching and sneakily packed Bunny, an old stuffed rabbit that I've had since I was 6.

I hug my parents goodbye and I follow the men back into their car and we drive off to the airport. Once we touch the ground more men in black suits come with another car and drive us to this pretentious ass private school.

They dropped me off and informed me that they will bring my things to my dorm. I lift my hood on my leather jacket (they're comfy okay). I threw the doors open in a meager attempt to show my dominance. It must've been between classes because hundreds of students in fancy uniforms and expensive jewelry stared at me, most with disgust visible on their spoiled faces.

I sneered and walked inside, hands in pockets, I walked up to a map of campus framed on the wall. I memorize the way and head upstairs to the principal's office.

The school was beautiful, with old victorian architecture with gray stone slabs with orange accents littering the halls and rooms. I cautiously open the principal's door. I peek inside a man in a bright orange suit with a gray tie, sits at the desk playing with little model cars, raises his head, and spots me "Issac! Welcome, welcome! Come sit down my boy!" the old man laughed, gesturing wildly with every word.

I pull out the mahogany chair and sit down "Haha! Issac! I'm going to tell you something that will change the way you live your life, okay? You have powers, well energy really. People like us take the energy around us and turn it into our own. So if someone with aqua energy can take the energy in the air and turn it into water, well mainly water because it's the strongest for them haha!" he explains "You're joking right?" I ask rightfully confused "Sorry, Izzy but nope!" he says popping the p "Energy? Powers? This must be some kind of joke you're playing on the new kid, right?" "No siree!" "How the hell are you supposed to 'harness energy' anyway?" I ask partially.

The principal sets his hands on the desk, palms up, and mutters a strange language I didn't understand. He went quiet and a small fire appeared in his hand. "I am a hero, hero energy is extremely rare! I only know of two heroes," he holds up 2 fingers "alive in this world right now. I and a teacher in the school right now. We heroes can harness all energies ignis, aqua, ventus, terra, and the others you will learn about in class! You can learn how to use all energies but there will always be one you are best and strongest at!" the old man paused and blew out the fire in his palm "There is one energy that is forbidden and that… is your natural energy. Demonic energy. You are the only known natural at demonic energy. You, Issac, are the legend Son of The Devil."

The room seemed to chill right as the word Devil passed from the principal's mouth "What? Devil? I-I really don't understand." I could feel cold sweat run down the back of my neck "The Devil, Satan, Lucifer whatever you want to call him, my boy! You are an energy user that energy user parents tell their energy user children as a warning to be good! Long ago a hero by the name of Adeodatus predicted that the son of Lucifer will be born and terrorize the world! It's your job to change the fate Adeodatus predicted for you!" I slowly nodded my head, I mean I've always wanted to be feared and powerful but I wanted to be like a hero. Not a villain.
