Chapter-24 The Mayor's son

"Will you be okay on your own from here?" Sebastian asked, and Elliana nodded.

"Well, have a good day then," Sebastian said before they drew off.

As soon as Sebastian drove off, Elliana's soft demeanor immediately changed into a neutral one, and she looked at the tall buildings of the university with a bitter gaze.

This was the same place Madeline humiliated her yesterday. If she doesn't want what happened yesterday to repeat daily, she needs to learn to fight against her enemies now and stop thinking about her dad.

She has given them enough face by taking the blame for her repeatedly. She wasn't only their daughter anymore. She was someone's wife too. Elliana kept her head high and started walking towards the entrance.

As soon as she stepped inside the University, everyone started to stop what they were doing and paused to look at her.

It was the first time they were seeing this beauty inside the University.

Everyone wondered what department this beauty belonged to.

The university enrolments ended yesterday, and everyone was introduced to their classmates and teachers. The faces of beautiful males and females in each department were already sent to the students' forum for voting so everyone knew the famous beauties.

Elliana noticed everyone's gaze and smiled politely at the boys who were openly gawking at her.

"Hey! Did you see that?! That beauty smiled at me,"

"What are you talking about? It was me,"

"But which department is she in?"

"Why did no one mention this beauty in the University student's forum?"

"I know, right? Where was everyone when they were already voting for the beautiful girls in the school?"

"She must be absent yesterday,"

Everyone started talking around her. Sebastian had already arranged everything for her, so she just needed to go to the biotechnology department and meet the Dean, who would handle the other things.

Elliana paused and looked around at all the people gawking at her and didn't know who to ask for directions. Miss Zoya was so excited that she didn't even give her Shreya's number, so she could call the girl and ask for help.

Well, no one had thought that the prince would offer to drop her out of nowhere either, right?

Elliana noticed a group of four boys walking in her direction and gulped before mustering her courage.

She needs to learn to hold her ground, or Madeline and others will walk over her like always. She can't let that happen again.

This time things were different. Her college life won't be the same as her school life. Elliana nodded at herself and stepped forward, ready to ask the boys for directions to the biotechnology department, when one of the boys looked at her, catching her off guard.

The boy looked at her with raised brows and saw her standing there, looking back at him.

"Well, hello there, beauty," he walked to her, and she smiled politely.

"Hi, can you help me by any chance? I was actually looking for the biotech department," Elliana spoke gently, and the boy's smile froze before he looked at his friends, who had the same expressions.

He had only meant to tease her a little because she looked like Alice in Wonderland, looking around as if she got lost. However, he hadn't actually expected her to respond like this.

Besides, there was no way her voice sounded so angelic, right? How can someone sound so innocent? The boy looked at her and nodded, still confused with the turnout of events.

Now it would be rude to not reply to her when he was the one who approached her, right? He didn't want to do that for some reason.

"Shall I accompany you there?" He asked, wanting to hear more of her.

"I don't want to be a burden and -"

"We are in the same department," The boy said, and Eliana smiled at him.

"Daniel," He extended his hand, and Elliana looked at his hand before smiling and shaking it softly. It made him look at her hand with curiosity.

The girl in front of him was a human? How come she has this kind of aura around her? And what's with this beauty? Even mature vampire women can't compare to her. She almost looked unreal even when she wasn't exactly flawless.

"Elliana," Elliana said, and she started following the guy to their department, the other three boys following them mindlessly.

"Oh, these are my friends, Alex, Greg, and George," Daniel said, and Elliana nodded at them one by one.

"You are a new student, right? I didn't see your name on the list. I am one of the members of the student council of the biotechnology department," Daniel said, and Elliana nodded again.

"My joining was confirmed at the last minute," Elliana didn't explain further, and Daniel hummed, looking at the girl repeatedly from the corner of his eyes.

What was with this girl seriously?

The other vampires and humans, who saw the mayor's son walking a human to her class, looked at him, confused.

He never helps anyone. Daniel was a gentleman and never treated anyone wrongly, but he was a mayor's son, for crying out loud. He never bothered interacting with anyone else apart from his group of friends and the vampire council's kids.

It was uncommon for him to interact with any human so easily. Though he is often seen teasing humans because it's fun for him, he has never helped anyone. Then again, this was a beautiful human they were talking about.

She wasn't a flawless beauty, but the aura around her was surely captivating and alluring.

"Thank you for your help, Mr. Daniel," Elliana nodded and turned around to leave, leaving a flabbergasted Daniel, who looked at her as if she was an alien.

What did she call him? Mr. Daniel? Who uses formal honorifics these days?

"Just Daniel would've been fine," Daniel said, and Elliana paused.

"Thank you, Mr. Daniel," She smiled before walking inside, and Daniel stood there, unsure if what happened was real.

She was serious and not just pulling his leg? What a weird girl!

"Pfft...haha," Alex chuckled out aloud behind Daniel, and the rest followed suit.

"Boy, did you just get played by a human girl?" He asked, and Daniel threw one last look at Elliana, looking out of the window as if the rest of the class and world didn't matter to her and didn't know what to think of the situation.

Did he get played? He doesn't think so. But what is this feeling again? Was he attracted to her at first sight? She was a rare beauty, no doubt, but it wasn't like she was the only beautiful person in this University.

There were girls like Madeline, Arohi, Samantha, and many others. So why had he never felt like this in front of everyone?

"Let's go," Daniel didn't say anything else and turned to leave.

Spotting the council's head's son at some distance, he smiled his casual signature smile and walked to him.

"What's up, man? I heard your father asked you to prepare things for the masquerade party this time?" Daniel asked the man with amber eyes, and the boy turned to him with a neutral expression.

"Hmm. It's been hectic. Dad wants me to start learning things and get a hold of these events so that I am ready by the end of my degree," the boy said.

"Cheer up, Alcinder. If you need any help, you know where to find me," Daniel patted his shoulders.

"Yeah, getting played by the new girl," Greg commented, making the other two laugh while Alcinder looked at Daniel for answers, who rolled his eyes, not saying anything nonetheless.

"Will someone tell me what's going on here?" Alcinder looked at them, and Daniel sighed.

"Well, our mayor's son was feeling atrociously helpful today and helped a human girl to the department. I am sure he wanted to talk more with her, but the girl just said 'Thank you, Mr. Daniel' and went inside the classroom, leaving him standing there just like that," Alex said, and Alcinder looked at Daniel.

"In my defense, I just wanted to tease her. I hadn't expected her to actually ask me something in return. Also, she looked like a freaking Alice in Wonderland. How could I not help her? I have my manners intact," Daniel scowled, and Alex and others chuckled at his expression.

"Sure, man. Whatever helps you sleep at night. You did whatever, but you have to agree that the girl's attitude and behavior were unexpected. She is a weirdo for sure," George chuckled, and others nodded their heads while Alcinder looked at Daniel.

For the first time, the guy wasn't agreeing with his friends when they were calling a human something.

It looks like the girl left him in great shock.

"She is beautiful. There is something about her that makes you want to help her," Daniel shrugged, and his three friends laughed again, making him scowl.

"Guys, I swear if you don't stop laughing, I will dismember you," Daniel groaned, and everyone smiled at his choice of words.

"Come on, we don't want to be late for class. You know how the professor is. He will immediately blame things on nepotism and how we don't value our education system," Alcinder rolled his eyes, and they started walking to their classroom.

As they passed the first year's class, Daniel's gaze involuntarily shifted inside the class where the girl was sitting and noticed how almost everyone was looking at her, but she was lost in her own world.

She sat alone even when he was sure many students wanted to sit with her. Did she deny them? Or were they being peculiar and wary of her aura?

She was really a weirdo, wasn't she? Daniel thought as they walked past the class.

Alcinder noticed his friend looking inside the class and was about to gaze inside when he saw Samantha waving at him, and he walked ahead, not minding anyone.
