11 Leaving The Royal Palace

Evelyn looked at Regan who was looking at her from so close. His face was emotionless and his red eyes were still cold and aloof.

Her hands couldn't help but hold her dress in her lap tightly. She blinked and then lowered her head.

If it had been someone else, then she would have struggled and pushed the person away but somehow her mind told her that Regan didn't have any bad intentions. However, having someone so close to her for the first time still made her slightly nervous and she couldn't keep herself calm as she did usually.

"Evelyn…"

When he said her name, she raised her head again and looked at him

"What did I tell you yesterday?"

A frown marred her forehead as she tried to think about the answer but she didn't need to as Regan answered himself.

"I told you that you are my personal slave."

When she saw him looking at her, she nodded her head like a child.

"Do you know what it means?"

This time, he leaned closer to her ear as he asked this question. Evelyn's breath hitched in her throat and she gulped audibly.

The masculine scent invaded her nostrils and she found herself confused until he said

"It means …"

He continued as he moved away slightly to look into her green eyes. His red eyes were slightly intense as he continued

"That you will do what I will ask you to do."

"That I have the sole right on your life as well as … on your body."

"Do you understand?"

He asked her calmly and Evelyn nodded her head unable to find anything weird with his words.

Has it not been like this always? Her slaveowners decided when she would sleep, and when she would eat. They could kill her, injure her and she could only try to save herself.

A sigh of relief escaped from her lips when Regan stood up straight but he was not yet finished.

Looking at the silent girl, Regan was silent for a moment before he said

"In the future, if someone asks you to do a chore, tell them that you belong to me solely. You can do only those chores that are assigned to you by me. And if they try to hit you…you have all the right to hit them back…I will handle the rest on my own."

He finished and then turned around to leave the chambers.

As she looked at his back, Evelyn realized the difference between Regan and her past owners.

Regan would never let anyone else hurt her body...because as her owner, only he had the right to do that.

.

It didn't take her long to pack her things because she didn't have much things with herself. Evelyn borrowed a small cloth from a maid and put her clothes that she had washed a few hours ago in that cloth.

With that small cloth, she returned to Regan's chamber.

Regan was sitting on the bed and reading a book while leaning on the headrest. His one leg was on the bed and one on the floor.

"This slave has packed her things, Your Highness."

When he saw Evelyn with her small bundle, he closed the book and put it on the bedside.

"Come"

Evelyn saw him walking towards the balcony of the room and followed him silently.

Standing a step behind him, she saw him looking towards the sky and her eyes widened slowly when she saw the familiar creature flying in their direction.

The balcony was huge so Lavo could easily land his feet on the balcony floor.

Ignoring his master's cold eyes on itself who seemed to mind his late arrival, Lavo looked at Evelyn and growled softly.

When it raised its paw, Evelyn couldn't stop herself from stepping forward and touching it gently.

Lavo's growl became softer when she scratched it lightly and Evelyn instantly developed a liking towards the creature.

However, she was interrupted when she heard Regan's cold voice

"When did you wash your feet last?"

Evelyn raised her head and saw that Regan was looking at Lavo coldly who growled at his master as if he was wronged.

Evelyn thought that Lavo's paws were well-washed. In fact, she felt she would dirty them so she took her hands back.

Lavo growled again as he looked at Regan with annoyance.

The latter, however, calmly walked forward and patted its back. Lavo was angry with his master so he didn't bend down his body.

Regan didn't mind and with one jump, he easily sat on its back.

After that, he looked at Evelyn who stood there holding her small bundle close to her chest, and forwarded his hand to Evelyn.

Evelyn looked at the hand for a moment before she put her own on it. She was actually scared because the height was too much.

However, she didn't face much difficulty because Lavo bent down his body. Regan looked at his pet coldly but didn't say anything.

With Regan's help, she quickly sat on its back.

It was just…the position made her slightly uncomfortable as Regan was sitting behind her. When Lavo started flying suddenly, she almost lost her balance but a hand suddenly went around her waist to keep her still.

It was only then she felt relieved that Regan was seated behind her.

"Thank you, Your Highness."

She whispered softly and tried to sit still. Regan didn't answer but his hand didn't leave her waist as well and somehow Evelyn didn't dislike his touch.

Because It made her feel safe.

And Evelyn realized that it was the first time that someone's presence and touch made her feel safe.

Perhaps her fate was not that cruel to her as well.
