46 Chapter 46: A punch that blows ones mind

"I do like you, and I can't imagine not being in your life, but I don't think we should date anymore...." Kevin said to Laura.

Her face was totally emotionless, as if she felt nothing, she said nothing, did nothing...

'She didn't even fight back, show sadness or a hint of emotion at what I said...' Kevin felt slightly hurt that she really didn't value him as a boyfriend, he had liked her for real.

They had become really good friends since they met, he trusted her with his secrets and felt like their relationship would develop. They had been semi dating but Kevin never felt like she really was into him in that way.

He had taken it slowly and didn't force anything because he knew she had a rough past and didn't grow up with family, love or a real home.

But even when he took it slow, she didn't take any steps to develop the relationship deeper.

Which made him sure that she didn't like him in the same way, at most she dated him because of her feelings of gratitude, thankfulness and appreciation.

Laura just stood there looking at him, and the longer she stayed silent, the more Kevin was sure that she didn't feel hurt by this.

"I still consider you one of my closest friends, and I hope this won't affect your relationship with my family, they do love you and consider you a close family friend..." Kevin said as he turned around and left, he flew to New York and didn't look back.

This had hurt more than he expected. Kevin just now realised that he might have fallen for Laura deeper than he originally thought.

As for Laura, she closed the door to her apartment, and simply stood there for a while, before tears started falling down her face.

Ever since she was small, she learnt to build walls around her heart to not get hurt.

Those walls started breaking down, brick by brick as she arrived here in Branchville. She had tasted the sweet nectar of friends, of a home, of love.

But she was very poor at expressing herself and was really bad at understanding others, she simply wasn't socially competent.

As such she never really showed how she felt to Kevin. it was partly because she didn't know how, and partly because she was terrified. Terrified of how things will turn out if she allowed herself to fall in love, to get in love and to be in love with Kevin.

But what worried her more, was the fact that Kevin never really took steps towards making their relationship real. He had always seemed almost vigilant against their relationship, which made her feel like, maybe he wasn't sure about his feelings, or that he wasn't really sure about how he felt towards her.

Nonetheless, a year after independence day, the day aliens invaded earth, Kevin had broken up their semi relationship.

Laura felt like he might have never really liked her, even though she had fallen for him a long time ago.

She felt like a coward for never expressing those feelings, and now she could never do it because Kevin had made it clear that he didn't want a relationship with her.

Laura walked to her bed, and sat down on the floor with her bed as a back supporter, she held her knees and cried.

Both Laura and Kevin had developed love for each other, but because of lack of communication and understanding, they missed each other, thinking that the other didn't feel the same.

Their semi relationship had held on because both of them wanted to be in a serious relationship with the other, but neither daring to overstep boundaries as they had misunderstood each other.

Both Kevin and Laura would have to mature, learn to express themselves, understand each other and communicate if they want to ever be in a relationship with each other.

Captain Marvel was flying around New York, trying to find a villains to beat up. She had tried to overtake Superman and become the mightiest hero of earth, But no matter what she did, he was always a step, well maybe a couple steps ahead of her.

She suddenly felt a shock wave coming from the roof of a close by building, thinking she found something good she flew there.

What she saw shocked her slightly. Superman was there holding onto the shirt of a man, whose head had been blown off.

Captain Marvel saw that Superman's fists contained blood and realised that he had hit the man in the head, hard enough to blow it off.

Then she saw the man's head slightly regenerate, superman raised his fist, ready to punch again, but he felt someone land nearby and catch his arm.

Looking back he saw it was captain marvel.

"Superman, maybe you should calm down a bit." She said, seeing anger in his eyes.

Superman had found Sabertooth on top of a building, looking as if he would do villain things.

Last time he was left in magma, in the middle of the forest, but it seems like he survived that.

Superman's feelings of sadness turned into frustration and then anger, as he released it on Sabertooth.

But Captain Marvel's timely arrival had brought him back to reason, as he simply threw Sabertooth towards Earth's second moon, the new one made of iron.

He turned around getting ready to leave, as he didn't feel like talking to anyone or having company.

Captain marvel saw him ignoring her, and her instincts told her to just ignore him as well, she wanted to just ignore him and be on her way, but she saw that he seemed different than normal... And she couldn't let it go.

"Superman... it brings me no joy to say this... but are you alright?"

"I don't want to talk about it." Superman said as he flew away.

Captain marvel was happy that he didn't want to talk about it, neither did she. But as she saw him flying away, and seeing the blood on his fist, she felt like she had to do something.

"... where's that Spiderboy when he's needed." She felt like spiderman would enjoy encouraging Superman in his hour of need.

She flew after him, but she realised one problem.. she had no idea how to make sad looking people happy.

Superman flew outside the atmosphere to enjoy a good nap with a good view. He needed to get his mind off some things.

As he floated in space, with closed eyes while the sun was warming him, Captain Marvel was flying towards him with great speeds.

She did the only thing she knew, she raised her fist and punched him with one of her hardest punches, in the face.

Superman was relaxing, trying to get his mind off the fact that he and Laura were over, suddenly his face was blasted and he flew towards the second moon.

Superman crashed onto the surface of the moon, as he stood up, confused about what had happened, he noticed that he had gotten a soft landing.

Sabertooth was beneath him, mushed up in gore from being smashed by the collision.

Superman ignored him and saw Captain Marvel as he looked up. This was the second time she had destroyed his alone time.

Supermans eyes started turning red, as heath started radiating from his eyes, as he looked at Captain Marvel.

So I felt like Laura and Kevins relationship had come to an end, I was honestly shipping them but it didn't work out.

Wanted to really express what was going on in their minds and what they felt, some of you might feel that they were being dumb or stupid. I disagree, I've seen lots of people break up even though they were a perfect fit.

And almost always it was bad communication and misunderstandings that lead to frustration and anger.

anyways, it's over, they are ever. I don't think I've ever seen a relationship not work out in fiction. Here it is, and a reasonable breakup at that.

I still ship them but I can't force things, I wrote things based on their personalities, not on how I want things to turn out.

That's why sometimes I write things without the intention of it being funny, but lots of you find it funny, simply based on the characters personality.

It's quite rare for me to try to put in jokes honestly, they just pop up based on the characters behaviours.
