Chapter 2 :All of a sudden

"What is this..." Toji Zenin tried to understand the situation as the thick fog suddenly enveloped his view.

He could smell an unpleasant and unfamiliar odor, so he had to cover his nose with his hand. Moments later, the fog disappeared, and he found himself in a strange place. When he looked around, there was nothing but barren land and leafless trees, yet it was full of fruits with shapes he had never seen before.

"Is this the Mato Disaster?" he mumbled, trying to find information on his smartphone.

He played a recorded voice message about the Mato Disaster. The content of the recording explained that cases in which the population accidentally got sent there or Shuuki outbreaks on Earth were referred to as the Mato Disaster. [If you're lost in Mato, don't move and wait for help from the Anti-Demon Force.]

Toji quickly turned off the recording and let out a long sigh, feeling exhausted. "Haah... What is this now? Is this some kind of joke?" he muttered while scratching his head.

At that moment, the ground near him suddenly trembled, making Toji startle and turn towards the source of the vibration. When he looked, there stood a two-meter-tall monstrous creature, staring at him with a fierce gaze.

"Ooh..." Toji shivered at the sight of how big and frightening the Shuuki was. Though it was extremely difficult to remain calm in a dangerous situation like this, he managed to and cautiously approached the monster with his hand outstretched. "Hey...?"

"GROOOOOOH!" The Shuuki roared fiercely and attacked Toji, who seemed utterly defenseless.

"Ugh..." Thanks to the reflex training he had undergone, Toji's senses were incredibly sharp against fast attacks, and he managed to avoid the Shuuki's attack right on time.

Even though he had successfully dodged the attack, he felt the shockwave's impact from the monster's assault.

"The heck, oy!" he exclaimed while regaining his balance after dodging. "Damn, this is the first time I've seen a Shuuki up close! Everything they say about them being monsters is true!" Toji thought while cautiously eyeing the Shuuki. "But it's also the first time I've fought a Shuuki, so let's gain some experience!" he continued with confidence.

Toji had trained himself for years and possessed extraordinary physical strength. However, he knew that he needed more than just physical strength to defeat this monster. He thought for a moment, trying to figure out if there was a suitable move for the situation.

Toji remembered reading about a special move in Kyokushin karate called "Kyokushin Ura Mawashi Geri." This move was a powerful and lethal spinning back kick. Toji knew that this might be a good opportunity to try it.

He distanced himself from the Shuuki while gathering his strength and concentration. The Shuuki attempted to attack him again, but Toji quickly evaded and rolled his body, as in the Kyokushin Ura Mawashi Geri technique.

Then, with all his might, Toji unleashed a spinning back kick that landed on the Shuuki with a powerful blow. The Shuuki was thrown several meters backward, its body tumbling on the ground.

Toji stood firm, looking at the heavily wounded Shuuki. He knew that this monster wouldn't surrender easily, so he was ready to continue the fight if needed.

However, the Shuuki appeared unable to get up again. Toji had successfully defeated it with the Kyokushin Ura Mawashi Geri move.

He sighed in relief, feeling proud of his victory. "I knew my training wasn't in vain," he murmured.

Toji then checked his surroundings, looking for signs of other life or a way to exit this place.

'I thought it would be difficult to defeat this monster, but it turned out to be quite easy...' he thought, giving himself a mental pat on the back.

However, the reason why the Shuuki were so dangerous wasn't just because of their terrifying and powerful physique but... their overwhelming numbers.

A rumbling sound echoed in Toji's ears, causing him to turn towards the source of the noise. His face paled, and his eyes widened when he saw a horde of Shuuki rushing towards him.

"Damn!" Toji ran for his life.

He ran as if in the moment when the protagonist was chased by zombies. Toji ran very fast, so fast that the monsters couldn't catch up with him. Nevertheless, every human has their limits, and he was already drenched in sweat and panting, having run for more than 30 minutes. Fortunately, his above-average physical strength allowed him to endure such a situation for a longer period than others.

'Damn, damn, damn! Why am I so unlucky!' he thought as he ran from the pursuing horde of Shuuki.

When he felt like he couldn't last much longer because his body was approaching its limit, he suddenly heard a loud explosion from behind that destroyed the Shuuki. When Toji looked back, what he witnessed was an energy ball that sucked the Shuuki into it, then annihilated the monster's bodies into nothingness.

Toji stopped when he felt he was safe, as he knew he had been rescued. He hadn't yet realized this rescue, but his body reacted and made him faint due to the lack of oxygen. However, he could feel reassured as someone would help him.

And that someone arrived just as he passed out. "Ara~ he's already fainted," said a young woman dressed in blue with short white hair above her head. Her uniform consisted of a dark blue militia tunic, a cap with red highlights, white gloves, shorts, and thigh-high boots. She wore a different set of earrings, a feather earring on her right ear and a blue liotin earring on her left. She was Tekna Izuma, the head of the 6th unit of the Anti-Demon Force.

...

Toji Zenin slowly opened his eyes, his confusion evident from his expression as he looked around. He was no longer in the place he recognized. A military building was in front of him.

"Where am I?" Toji mumbled, rubbing his head, which still ached from the battle with the Shuuki.

As he tried to sit up, a soft and familiar voice from behind startled him.

"Ara, you're awake, Uncle," Tenka Izumo said, smiling as she stood near the room's door. With her oversized uniform, she looked like a schoolgirl wearing military attire.

Toji furrowed his brow, unsure if he had heard correctly. "Uncle? Who are you calling 'uncle'?"

Tenka frowned for a moment and then blushed slightly. "Of course, Uncle. You just look older than me."

"Sorry, but I'm only 18 years old," Toji replied with a puzzled tone.

Tenka looked momentarily surprised, then smiled sheepishly. "Oh, sorry. I made a mistake, Toji-san. Your face looks quite mature, and your physique is too big for a young person like you."

Toji nodded in agreement. "Yes, I understand. Now, can you tell me where I am?"

Tenka quickly explained the situation. She talked about Mato, the peach fruit, Shuuki, and how the 6th unit was the Anti-Demon Force responsible for protecting the world from Shuuki threats. She also explained that Toji's physical strength in the battle against Shuuki had caught their attention.

Toji listened attentively to the story. He then shared a bit about himself, how he was an orphan raised by his grandfather in the woods, and how he had been training since he was young. Tenka listened with interest, impressed by his dedication and courage.

However, the situation turned into a comedy when Tenka accidentally referred to him as "uncle" again. "Alright, Toji-san. Are you willing to join us in the 6th unit?"

Toji was taken aback. "Join? Wait a minute. I never intended to join any military or anything like that."

Tenka chuckled. "Oh, sorry again. I didn't mean to, but you've already been enrolled with your grandfather's permission." She showed a letter from Toji's grandfather Izaki Zenin. It seemed that Tenka had easily obtained information about Toji from the population data, and with her abilities, it was easy for her to find Izaki Zenin's location.

"What!?" Toji exclaimed, immediately taking the letter from Tenka and opening it to read its contents.

"This is your chance, kid! Have fun while you're still young!" That was the short message written there. Toji's body trembled, and he crumpled the letter. "Old man! Why did you just agree to someone else's offer!" he thought angrily about his grandfather Izaki.

"So, welcome to Unit 6, Toji-kun!" Tenka said with a friendly smile.

Toji turned towards her with a stiff expression, his forehead wrinkled. "Ahahahaha..." He could only laugh awkwardly, the unexpected situation leaving him baffled.
