Be her Dog II

I stared at her intensely, trying to find signs of deceit in her eyes. However, Ren just chuckled while gracefully petting her little dog. The small dog curled closer to her, looking very comfortable.

"Ahem..." The soldier who had guided me here coughed softly, trying to snap us out of this absurd situation. Her voice sounded firm yet polite, like someone who was accustomed to navigating strange interactions between superiors and subordinates.

Ren turned towards her, the smile still on her face. "Apologies, Ginna," she said in a soft yet authoritative tone. "Could you leave us alone for a moment?"

Ginna, the soldier, nodded obediently. "Of course, Chairwoman Ren." She turned around and walked out of the room with calm and steady steps. The door closed gently behind her, leaving Ren and me in a somewhat awkward silence.

Ren sighed deeply, releasing the little dog from her lap and letting it play on the floor. She then looked at me with a more serious gaze. "Jin, I called you here because there's something important we need to discuss. But before that, I want to know how serious you are about this offer of cooperation."

I raised an eyebrow, still skeptical. "How serious? I'll be serious if you are, Ren."

Ren smiled thinly, then stood up and walked towards the large window in the room. The morning sunlight illuminated her glossy black hair, making it gleam. "I'm serious, Jin. You know that your abilities could be very valuable to this unit. But I also need to ensure that you can be trusted. There's a lot at stake."

I looked at her suspiciously. "And what do you offer in return? Real freedom, or just empty promises?"

Ren turned around and looked at me sharply. "Real freedom, Jin. You have to understand that the world has changed a lot. Gender disparity in this era has reached its peak. If all unit leaders find out about a man acting as a member in my unit, it will surely raise suspicion," she explained seriously.

What Ren said was true. Even though I claimed I wasn't a threat to humanity, they might not accept it. Especially with the fact that I am a man with special abilities. I could end up being a research subject. Thinking about it made me shudder.

"So, what do you want to offer me?" I asked seriously, trying to understand the direction of this conversation.

Ren turned, her violet eyes staring intensely at me. For ordinary men, they might be mesmerized, but not for me. I was suspicious that this woman would push for an unreasonable deal. She walked towards me, very close, until her face was almost touching mine.

Even though I knew Ren's true nature, it didn't mean I couldn't feel embarrassed. This was me, a miserable single man, longing for a girlfriend. Yes, even after a century passed, I was still the same as before I became like this.

"Be my dog..." she said softly, her eyes watching every movement of my mouth until meeting my eyes.

What? A dog!? "I knew it, no..."

"Wait until I finish speaking, Jin," Ren interrupted firmly.

"What needs to be explained!? Me? Becoming your dog!? Only exists in your dreams." I pushed Ren away, disappointment evident on my face.

Ren took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. "Jin, being a dog is a formality to protect your privacy. Even if you manage to get out of here and return to society, your life won't be peaceful. Information about you, coming out alive from hell's valley, has spread even to other countries," Ren explained seriously, her eyes staring at me without blinking.

I fell silent for a moment, pondering her words. She was right, if my identity was exposed, I would be a target. "So, what is your plan, Ren?" I asked, trying to understand the real intention behind her offer.

Ren sighed, her eyes softening. "Jin, I don't mean to belittle you. I just want to protect you. In this world full of uncertainty, we need extra protection. If you become part of this unit as a 'dog', it will only be a disguise. In reality, you will still be yourself, with greater freedom."

I looked at her skeptically. "And how can you ensure that?"

Ren smiled thinly, then took something from her jacket pocket. "With this," she said, showing a small device that looked like a dog tag. "This is an official identification, which will ensure that your identity remains hidden. Only I have access to change or delete its data."

I looked at the device with curiosity. "And are you sure this will work?"

Ren nodded. "Yes, I'm sure. With this, you can live your life peacefully, without fear of being chased or used as an experimental subject."

I took a long breath, feeling somewhat relieved. "Alright, I'll consider it. But remember, I won't follow every order of yours without careful consideration."

Ren laughed softly, then placed the device on the table in front of me. "That's what I expect, Jin. I need someone who can think for themselves, not just a puppet."

I took the device and nodded. "Okay, I'll think about it," I said with a hint of doubt in my voice.

Ren smiled broadly, then reached out to stroke the shiba inu's fur in her lap. "You know, Jin, life here won't be as bad as you think. Maybe, you'll even find the things you've been longing for," she said mysteriously.

I could only nod quietly, still thinking about all the possibilities. Ren stood up and approached me, her face very close until I could feel her warm breath on my cheek. "Don't worry, Jin. I'll make sure you're okay," she whispered with a voice that was almost erotic, making my blood rush.

Before I could say anything, Ren was already back sitting on her sofa, reading the documents piled on the table. The shiba inu jumped down and walked towards me, sniffing my legs as if already familiar with me. I bent down and petted the dog's head, trying to calm my chaotic mind.

"Well, I'll go back to my room and think more about this," I finally said.

Ren nodded without lifting her face from the documents. "Alright, Jin. Take all the time you need, but don't take too long. We need your decision soon."

I walked out of the room with a still tumultuous mind. A mixture of attraction, doubt, and worry continued to linger in my mind. But one thing was for sure, my life had just changed direction again.

As I returned to my room, I found myself still holding onto the dog tag tightly. My mind wandered in various directions, thinking about all the possibilities. Ren was indeed an arrogant woman, but she also had a charm that couldn't be ignored. Was this just a game for her, or was there something deeper behind all of this?

I sighed deeply and threw myself onto the bed. "Oh God, my life is really strange," I muttered, staring at the ceiling. But, perhaps there was something good behind all of this. Only time would tell.
