The Unexpected Happened part 8: Chapter 99

Under the moon, the gaze of the demon was directed to a boy who was falling from a tall height….unconscious from his strike, a strike that was capable of tearing a whole building down, he sneered at the boy…amazed that the boy was still alive despite having to take on such power from his fist.

Willing to end the boy, he followed him down.

As he leaped over the platforms, he smiled as he came closer and closer to the boy…with his arms reaching out and his claws ready to catch boy with an expected bloody mess…

'!?'

But from falling down, he came to notice the screams of some soldiers from afar…and with those screams, an intense feeling of danger was suddenly surging from his senses…

"!!"

It was telling him to dodge…to hide…

But all of these warnings were too late.

Before he could even look to where those screams were coming from, his face came in collision with a fist that appeared out of nowhere.

What presented before him was none other than a man who wore an eye patch.

Before he could even reach the boy, he was pushed away down to the side of the student dorm.

Meanwhile, the boy who fell down was caught by a sort of magnetic magic that controlled his ascent down to the ground. That magic lead him far away from the battle that was being presented by both the Demon cultist and the Guards who just came on the scene of the event.

Despite the fact that the Demon cultist were more powerful than the guards, the numbers made up for the fact that about 100 guards came defend the students.

As the boy was finally brought to a same area, the one who received him was none other that secretary Sherry. They were about a 100 meters away from the battle. Not enough that it would be completely safe, but safe enough that they could look to the battle with a calm expression.

With the two of them face to face, Sherry began to check Hamil's condition if he was alright…

Noticing the touch of Sherry's check up, Hamil sat up from the ground, but as he did, he could feel the pain that was surging on his arm. The arm that held the shield.

"A-are you okay?" asked Sherry.

"Hnn!" when she came in touch with his arm, Hamil reacted to the pain.

"Oh no, your arm is broken."

"I-I'm fine…it's just dislocated." said Hamil.

But despite his words, his arm was completely broken…it would be of no use if it was just plug in like a socket, it was like a shattered bottle inside the hand-shaped bag.

"Lay the fuck down, we need to get you treated fast!" said Sherry.

"Hmm, no, all I need is a healing potion." he said as he began to pullout out a potion from his storage ring. It was a bit hard since his other arm was broken, as it was difficult to reach for the healing potion.

"You are not thinking of going back there, are you?"

"...the battle is not over."

"Shut up!" what can you do with your broken arm!?"

"...to fight, I'm not dead yet."

"..."

As Sherry looked to him, she could only ever stare in question for his attitude…and for reasons unknown to her, she felt convinced that this bastard was as untamed as he was when he took on the student counsel test.

She thought that it wouldn't take long for him to die in battle if he was this willing.

"No."

In the end, she could not allow him to go back in the fight. As from the looks of the situation, it seems as though it was finally getting settled.

Ethea, Jo and the Guards were pushing back the Demon cultist one by one, Ronny was fighting off the Demon and some of the targeted students were finally getting retrieved to a safe location, away from the student dorms.

Sherry had to tie him down by making his body a bit heavy so that he could not move from his place.

Hamil had done what he could…almost as if he has done the biggest contribution to this event, so there was no need for him to go back. Despite the fact that Hamil had thrown her off to a bush far from the student dorm, she knew that he was only doing that for her good, and in the same manner, she was now paying him back to grace of saving him, by forcing him to stay in place. She herself could not fight back because of her unhealed injury, but at least she could assist the team by pulling in some of the victims of this terrorism. She pulled in the unconscious students from afar and brought them to a safe area.

From the looks of their condition, they seemed to be unconscious from either a fight or that they were put to sleep using some kind of drug. She would not find it hard to believe that the demon cultist would do such a thing like drugging a person in their sleep.

When she looked back to Hamil, she could find him still looking to the student dorm with weird expression. An endearing sensation of fear was written on his face.

'...something feels off.' Thought Hamil as he looked to the student dorm.

Meanwhile, in the battle of the student dorm, on one of the hands of the demon cultist, a student named Arthur was being held like a shield…

And the person in front of that demon cultist was none other than President Ethea who felt scared as a knife was going against the skin of Arthur's neck.

Threatened by this, Ethea knew that one wrong move would lead to Arthur being critically damaged.

"...Get the fuck away from us!" screamed the Demon cultist as they struggled to hold off in their position.

About 20 demon cultist remained standing…while their leader, the S-rank Demon was busy fighting off against a knight of the Grand Service moon.

From the look of the situation, it was clear that the Demon cultist were losing…

The uncertainty of their escape was getting clearer by the second…

"...Fuck!" the demon cultist couldn't help but curse in the moment.

He tried looking around for a chance to escape in any way possible…but all the exits were blocked by some guards.

'..I guess that place is the only thing we got.' thought the Demon cultist as he looked to the unstable gate that was formed from the artifact that they would have used to escape.

"L-let me make a deal." said the Demon cultist.

"..." Ethea could only remain still with her swords raised against the Demon cultist.

"I'll let him go, but you have to promise me that I would pass through that gate." said the Demon cultist.

From the intensity of the situation, the demon cultist could not help but say an irrational thought of choice to the guards and Ethea.

"..." When Ethea turned to the unstable gate, she could clearly analyze that this gate was a dangerous choice to go forward with…

She could not help but ask herself why a gate was here in the first place…and looking at the demon cultist, she knew that that gate was probably their only way of escaping this situation…but the way the gate was being unstable, she couldn't help but ask away for what happened in this student dorm.

"Tell me, how were you able to create a gate in this area?" asked Ethea.

"Hmph! Don't give me that BS. If that kid and his Golem wouldn't have been here and broke the artifact, we could have been long gone by now!"

"Kid…?"

"The one with the FUCKING BOW! The one who used a shield and a Sword!"

"...?"

Despite describing the said person, Ethea could not think of anyone that had that description. She knew that if it was anyone, it could have been Hamil, but he uses a spear as his weapon…so that could only ever mean that it was probably a different person who ruined their plans. And having said that a Golem appeared in this place was also probably true…judging by how ruined the front of this place was, it could only ever be described that a Golem had rampaged this area. And speaking of a Golem, she thought that it was not likely Hamil who created it, since creating such an advanced elemental skill was only possible for people in the middle ages of about 30 and above. A kid like Hamil is impossible to be a suspect. Despite him having the skill to manipulate Earth in such great manner, the ability to create Golems was way ahead of Hamil's skill…

So that could only mean that Hamil was either with the person uses both a sword and bow and who can create Golems…if so, she could ask Hamil the details later after the whole event is over.

"Enough with the fucking questions, let me go or else, I slit this kid's throat." said the Demon cultist as he pushed his knife down to Arthur's neck.

"...Fine, once you reach 2 meters away from the gate, you have to drop the boy." said Ethea.

"..." Having said nothing, the Demon cultist made his way to the unstable gate as close as he could.

Once he dropped Arthur down to the floor, he quickly jumps to the unstable gate, hoping that he would come out of a safe area.

But the problem is…he jumped into an unstable gate.

Anything can happen on the other side of that gate.

It randomly generates locations all over the world…and if one is lucky, they could jump to a cave, a farm out in the fields, a fishing port, or maybe even they could come out about just inside the academy but just about 500 meters away from the student dorm…

But if one is unlucky, they could be thrown out straight into the middle of an ocean…or over the mouth of an active volcano, and maybe yet, inside a room of a therapist who mainly handles about failed marriages.

AN: JK on the last part.

Without a second thought, the demon cultist jumped to the gate and was never heard of again…

"...Get Arthur, we have to get him treated." said Ethea as she ordered the Guards to pick up Arthur from the ground.

Meanwhile, the S-rank Demon and Ronny were giving it their all to take down one another.

Ronny, the towering figure standing at a formidable two meters tall, faced off against the powerful demon in a clash of strength and skill. With his innate ability to create mana-based barrier boxes and his specialized sickle knife, Ronny knew he had the upper hand in his experience dealing with demons. However, the demon's speed posed a challenge that Ronny would need to overcome.

At the battle , the demon lunged forward with lightning-fast agility, its sharp claws aimed at Ronny's massive frame. Ronny reacted swiftly, conjuring a barrier box to intercept the demon's attack. The demon's claws clashed against the translucent magical construct, unable to penetrate its protective barrier.

Seizing the momentary opening, Ronny retaliated with his sickle knife. His quick technique came into play as he deftly maneuvered around the demon's defenses, hooking the demon's vulnerable areas with precision. Each strike left deep gashes in the demon's scaled skin, drawing forth snarls of pain and frustration.

The demon, recognizing the threat Ronny posed, unleashed a barrage of powerful magical attacks. Dark tendrils of energy hurtled towards Ronny, threatening to overwhelm him. But Ronny, relying on his experience in battling demons, swiftly conjured barrier boxes around himself, deflecting the onslaught and allowing him to maintain his offensive.

Determined not to let the demon's speed advantage dictate the outcome of the battle, Ronny used his knowledge of demon anatomy to exploit weaknesses. With each swift maneuver, he targeted the demon's joints and vital spots, aiming to disable its agility and sap its strength. The sickle knife danced through the air, finding its mark time and again.

However, the demon, fueled by its potent magical abilities, retaliated with increased ferocity. It unleashed a whirlwind of dark energy, aiming to disorient and overpower Ronny. The gusts of power threatened to break through Ronny's defenses, testing his resilience.

Gritting his teeth, Ronny channeled his experience and determination. He summoned multiple barrier boxes, layering them in quick succession to create a fortified shield. The demon's attacks crashed against the barriers, unable to breach Ronny's defensive fortress.

With his defenses firmly in place, Ronny pressed forward, his sickle knife slashing through the air with calculated precision. Each strike brought the demon closer to its downfall, weakening its magical defenses and sapping its strength. Despite the demon's speed, Ronny's experience and strategic maneuvering kept him a step ahead.

Sensing its impending defeat, the demon launched a desperate assault. It lunged at Ronny with unmatched ferocity, its sharp claws and thrashing tail threatening to overwhelm him. Ronny, undeterred, used his barrier boxes to create a temporary cage, trapping the demon within its confines.

With the demon momentarily contained, Ronny seized the opportunity. With a powerful swing of his sickle knife, he struck the demon's vulnerable but in the Demon's desperate act to survive, he grabbed hold of Ronny's hands before the sickle could even reach the Demon's skin.

"Kgh!"

"Give up…Demon."

"Never!"

As the Demon Struggled, tears began to fall from his eyes as the impending realization of his death was upcoming…

"...If only…If only you weren't here!"

"...Too bad."

Without hesitation, Ronny pushed through with his sickle….

~Swing~

And slices the head of the Demon off without issue.

"..Phew." as he sighed in relief, he looks to the others and saw that most of the demon cultist have already be dealt with.

From the looks of the casualties, about all of the demon cultist were killed, the demon was beheaded and all of the targeted student's remained alive.

It seems as though the situation has finally ended.

But as he stood with the demon on his hands, another problem was occurring in one of the rooms of the students.

*MARTHA'S ROOM POV*

Meanwhile, a couple of minutes back, as the room was completely ruined, Licia who just arrived at Martha's room was shocked to find the place in such a mess.

"What happened?" asked Licia.

"...Nothing, you don't have to worry about anything." said Liam.

"But Martha seems hurt." said Licia.

"She's fine." said Liam.

As he looked to his sister, he could feel that the book still had some sort of effect to her mentality.

"What are doing here Licia?"

"Arthur told me that I should go here…he said that he'll meet us soon."

"D-do you know what is going on in the school today?" asked Licia.

"No, but from how our enemies looked, it seems as though they were a part of the Demon cult." said Liam.

"So you were also attacked in your room?"

"Yeah…the same thing must have happened to Martha." said Liam.

As they talked, Martha was beginning to burn up…her body temperature was rising…and soon, flames were starting to burst out of her body uncontrollably. The sofa that she was placed on, burned without any effort and Liam and Licia were surprised by this.

"What's happening?" asked Licia.

"...Fuck, I don't know." said Liam.

Soon after, Martha stood from the sofa as if she was awake and then looked to the two who were surprised.

"...Martha?"

"..."

Liam had a bad feeling about this development…it seems as though that peron in front of them wasn't Martha at all.

He could see it in her eyes that a mark with flames were burning.

"...Oh God." Liam was familiar with that mark…

And knowing so, he decided to simply stood and watch as the event continued.

Licia on the other hand was rather shocked. She was ready for anything that might happen in the room…

She could tell that the Martha seemed strange…almost as if she was possessed by something.

".…" Martha stayed silent as she looked to the two, but soon began to walk away as she figured that Liam and Licia weren't her objectives.

"..." She then proceeded to turn to the book that was on the floor…and having to walk up to it, she reached down and grabbed the book.

".…" Liam was nervous as to what was going to happen to them…

When Martha returned to face Liam, she simply handed him the book…as if telling him to keep the book safe.

After that, she walked out of the door of her room at a moderate pace. Leaving Licia and Liam to their own.

Licia tried to go after her, but Liam grabs her arm and tells her to leave Martha be.

"...What are ou doing? She's walking out there!" said Licia.

"No…Don't get in it's way…if you do, trouble may find itself to you." said Liam.

".…Huh?"

"Let's just stay here and wait for Arthur." said Liam.

Meanwhile, after the battle has ended, Hamil was still on the floor, far away from the dorm. As he remained staring at the sky and moon, a whisper came to his ear….

'...The roof.'

"...Huh?"

'...look to the roof of the student dorm.'

To the instructions of the whisper, he followed and came to the view of the top of the student dorm's roof.

"...?"

To his shock, he came sensing a presence that was a bit…threatening to him.

"...Someone is there." he said to himself.

So without question, he began to stand up from his place…where despite the fact that he was a bit heavy because of the gravity magic that was placed on him by secretary sherry, he still was able to stand up.

He could see that secretary sherry was busy tending to the unconscious students, so that gave him the chance to make his escape.

Using Light's reflection, he disappeared.

And made his way to the roof of the student dorm.

When he finally arrived at the roof of the student dorm, a sudden intrusion came as he felt a gaze look onto him. A gaze that was just as demanding as that of the Rulers.

A Gaze of a God.

"...Wh-"

When he turned, he was meet with the look of a woman who he knew all to well..

"M-martha?"

"..."

The girl remained silent as she looks to him with a smile that made Hamil shiver in fear.

"We finally meet Ruler…Brother."

"What?"

Confused by her words and tone that was nowhere near similar to that of Martha's voice, Hamil could only ever assume that the person before him was not Martha Dottingham.

The voice he heard was that of a man…a man who sounded with echo for each and every word he spoke.

"You're not Martha." said Hamil as brought out Apolo in an attempt to fight the person.

Even though his mana was at its last ends, Hamil still stood firm with the determination to figure out what was happening to Martha.

But as he stood there, another person intrudes between the two.

A person who had wings as white as snow began to descend…

And what landed down just between the two was a bearded black man.

"...You're here." said the person who possessed Martha's body.

"I'm sorry my lord, I had to make sure that no one was in the area."

"...Very well, now that you are here, we can finally start this interaction. We don't have much time so I have to be direct with you, Brother." said Martha as she looked to Hamil

As the person spoke, Hamil was a bit taken aback. When he took a closer look at Martha, he noticed that in her eyes, flames were continuously burning and a mark of a certain god was placed in her pupils.

"!?...Agereos, The All Seeing Watchgod?"

"Correct…brother. I am Agereos, son of one of the Higher Gods…a God who sees all and burns all."

"...Why…why are you here?"

"I came to meet my Brother…you are my brother."

"What?"

"...It seems as though you have no clue as to who you are…Kither, explain to him the history between the bonds between us Gods and the Rulers." as he said this, the bearded man steps up and looks to Hamil with a cold gaze.

"I am Kither El…An Angel…a companion of the Gods."

"An Angel?"

"..Right now, Lord Agereos is in control with the vessel of one of his people, Martha Dottingham. The reason for this is because he came to meet you…Hamil Crux, the New Ruler of a forgotten Kingdom."

"..."

"You wonder why he calls you brother, that is because you are all children of one of the Higher Gods…the Father."

"The Father harbors all of his children…and one of them is Lord Agereos, the second son. As for you and all the other past Rulers, they are Fostered and cherished by the Father as well…despite not being born with a God's blood, the Rulers have been loved by the Father just as much. And by his love, he gave you Powers…powers capable of being a God or killing Gods, yet still the Rulers remained mortals."

"..." Speechless by his words, Hamil remained silent as he listened to the information that Kither spoke of.

"The Father was a God of great power…capable of creating everything and anything all for the balance of everything in his grasp. But with him, there were other Higher Gods as well… lesser Gods who despised his creations and his existence."

"Even in the life of a God, there are always those who came with complications that leads to conflict." said Agereos.

"...the Gods who hated the Father rebelled against him."

"Thousands of Gods banded together to try to erase his existence…but even with their numbers, it was simply not possible that the Father would be killed by those Gods…so instead, the Gods who rebelled, choose to seal him from the universe."

"It took them thousands of years before finally the Father was sealed completely…and after that, the Rebellious God had the will to erase anything that was a part of the Father…from the Father's sons and Daughters most were abolished…and to those who feared for their deaths, they surrendered…one of them is the God Agereos."

"!?"

"After getting rid of most of the Gods, they heard news of the Rulers…mortals who were known to be a threat to the Gods…and were blessed by the Father."

"...it was simply a fact that those Gods would try to get rid of the Rulers, and so a thousand years ago, the Rulers were faced and eliminated by a Dozen Gods."

"In their retaliation, the Rulers were able to kill ten Gods…but after that, the Rebelling Gods sent more Gods…until it was hopeless for the Rulers to stand their Ground."

"...So that was why the Rulers were killed." said Hamil.

"Yes…"

"I only came here to warn you Brother, you must hide before they take notice of your return…and during your hiding, you must train to become stronger than you are now…"

"How did you know that I was a Ruler?"

"...Randull spoke of you."

"...Randull, so he told you about me."

Randull, the great Divine. Hamil had meet him when he was undergoing the Resolute Ruler's Trial…and with Randull's ability to look into someone's fate and connection as one of the manager of the trial, he spoke of Hamil's existence to Agereos.

"How long do you think would it take for them to find me?"

"...Judging by how one of the elemental kings have been in contact with Gordeseus in question of your existence, they must have caught scent of your divine skill…Genesis."

"Wait, what do you mean? Is Gord involved in this?"

"It is not only the Gods who are after the existence of any form of rebellion, they have ordered some of the Elemental Kings to search for you…To know more, you have to talk to this about Gordeseus yourself. I am running out of time, Martha is waking up sooner than expected. "

"...so Gord...fine, I'll talk to him about this."

"Listen brother, in time, we will have a chance to free our Father."

"Free the Father?"

"To succeed in this mission, we will have to go to war with the Gods…but for now, train and become strong."

"My Lord, you are Fading." said Kither.

"I know, Kither tell him what needs to be done. Guide him to the path of Godhood." said Agereos.

"...I will my Lord."

"...And brother, take care of yourself."

As he finished, the body he possessed suddenly falls to floor but before it could hit the roof, Kither caught Martha and carried her on his arms.

"..."

"So what now?" asked Hamil.

"...Do you believe what the Lord has said?…what I explained?"

"...I do."

"Why?"

"...I don't know, but I trust myself that you are telling the truth." said Hamil.

"Hmm, if the past Rulers would have stood here in front of us both now, they would probably scold you for saying that." said Kither.

"Is that so?"

"hmm, yes. But nonetheless, you yourself are a Ruler…I cannot doubt that you will be just like them. Strong and willful of their words and choices."

"I see…thank you."

"hmm, I have to go back and return Martha back to where she was. So please, try to stay safe my lord. Until the time comes, I will come back in a later date to see you again…but for now, we have to depart."

"Farewell, Kither El."

As Hamil said this, Kither grew wings made of snow and flew away at a fast speed incomprehensible to the naked eye.

As he stood there, he could feel a sense of responsibility being piled up against him.

"...The Gods are enemies…this is bullshit."

He said as he stared at the moon with a very tired expression.

Time since this whole event started…

From 10:45 PM to 11:30 PM

45 minutes has only passed since then…and it finally ended.

AN: hmm....the terrorist arc has finally ended. I wonder what comes next.
