CHAPTER 3: DEAD

In the Star pavilion in the servant's room.

"Jane. Wake up!"

"It's me Catherine."

"Shh. The others would be woken up."

"Wait. I am coming out."

Catherine had dashed to the the servants quarters in the middle of the night trembling and sneaked inside.

She was trying her best to quieten down and tell her the piece of news but couldn't.

When Jane finally touched the dewy grass in the garden at the back of the room she burst out.

"Hng. Sis Mo….m....is…..de….ad. Waah!!"

The poor girl could not take it anymore and wailed out her lungs.

Jane turned stiff. Her hands radiated coldness. It was unknown whether it was from the biting coldness of the night or the coldness in her heart. Her bluish eyes slowly morphed into black. It was pitch black yet it seemed to outshine a diamond.

Her face was contorted in pain and anguish as drops glistened and fell on the grass below.

Yet she stubbornly refused to cry. Not a word was heard except for Catherine's muffled moans.

'It was over' she thought.

Jane still remembered that fateful night when the king had burst forth into the birthing chamber with an imposing aura. He stormed towards the bed where the woman was crying.

He gently stroked her head and coaxed her, "Dear is it painful?"

"Please bear with it. It will be over"

"Now push. Don't faint, dear push.

The woman who had almost fainted seemed to stir.
